Posted by Tito | May 21, 2008 11:59 AM

no way did that sell out that quickly. that is impossible.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:00 PM

A lot of women in their mid-30s bought tickets for this -- their first concert outing in 6 years. Now the babysitter has to be hired, and they can finally display that tattoo they've been hiding since 2003.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:00 PM

I'm in my mid-30s. So? Is there some age limit to liking the type of music covered on this blog?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:02 PM

No! Just make sure you take a nap on the afternoon of this show, its a lot harder to stay awake past midnight these days. And definitely proudly display the old tattoo!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:06 PM

That was not the fastest sell out ever Haha. Tell that to the Tom Waits fans that wanted to see him in Columbus you knuckleheads. Anyway, I am going to a real show that night(Pearl Jam) but i got 2 tickets to this show and i would like to be nice and sell them here before Craigslist. So anyone who needs 2 that will be 100.00 per ticket. Leave your email.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:07 PM

I'm a guy, I have no tattoos and I think I've been to about 40 shows thus far this year. I'll probably be ok. But thanks for your concern, punk.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:08 PM

Got 1 spare if anyone wants to trade me. Im looking for a Sigur Ros ticket...

Posted by pete | May 21, 2008 12:08 PM

anon 12:07 is the biggest fucking douche in the world.

Posted by rocked the shit | May 21, 2008 12:08 PM

hiro sometimes has seats on the main floor for their acoustic shows, which are first come, first serve. they get occupied pretty fast, and once taken, you have to stand all the way in the back.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:09 PM

Don't you worry they will be adding another show when the cd comes out...which will be better!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:10 PM

I'll take them for $100 each. you can e-mail me at brian.peppers@live.com. I'm serious about buying your tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:10 PM

oh - you must only be a male - and in your 20's to know about or like music??

you are ignorant and a jerk.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:11 PM

Who are you calling ignorant and a jerk?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:12 PM

That's the point - no one wants to see her perform her new stuff - just exile.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:13 PM

scratch that... anon 12:10 is an even bigger douche for buying those tickets.

I think I'll send his email address to a bunch of spammers

Posted by rocked the shit | May 21, 2008 12:14 PM

haha to whoever said peeal jam will be a real show...that was back in the early 90s sorry

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:14 PM

"I'm a guy, I have no tattoos and I think I've been to about 40 shows thus far this year. I'll probably be ok"

And you're going to see this Guyville show? It was a pandering gimmick 15 years ago, and now its just pathetic. On a positive note, you should be able to get lucky with some milf's if you're willing to put up with a little more bottom baggage.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:15 PM

His "e-mail address" is brian.peppers@live.com.

Do you think that's real?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:15 PM

"And you're going to see this Guyville show? It was a pandering gimmick 15 years ago, and now its just pathetic. On a positive note, you should be able to get lucky with some milf's if you're willing to put up with a little more bottom baggage."

You remember it being a gimmick when you were 7? Get over yourself. I'm sure there's a Dan Deacon show you can catch. There's a reason people a lot smarter than you think Exile in Guyville is a seminal record. It's good.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:17 PM

According to the timestamp on the posts above, this event sold out before it even went on sale. Ticketmaster is corrupt - but that's nothing new.

Posted by bmcquil | May 21, 2008 12:20 PM

What exactly about Exile in Guyville is a gimmick? Have you even listened to the album?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:20 PM

Seriously, it's a great record. But the douchebag who called it a gimmick probably loves Dan Deacon and thinks Crystal Castles are the end-all. In other words, he's an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:22 PM

I'm sorry, you're a fucking idiot. Guyville was junk in 1993 and its just fucking sad now.

Steve Albini hit it on the nose back then, and history has proven him correct.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:24 PM

"haha to whoever said peeal jam will be a real show...that was back in the early 90s sorry

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:14 PM"

You are an idiot, seriously. Pearl Jam still put on amazing shows you dummy. Thats why they all sell out huge arenas.

Plus has anyone took the time to notice this is an acoustic show? This will probably be just Liz alone on stage performing the album. Now dont get me wrong, I love this record but i got to say to the people who got tickets for this show.......SUCKERS

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:28 PM

2nd date added 6/26... go get 'em!

Posted by rocked the shit | May 21, 2008 12:32 PM

Woooh. Got tickets for second date.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:37 PM

I got shut out on the 1st show, but I just got 2 for the second show.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:40 PM

In keeping with the phenomenon of artists performing entire records in concert, and to assure that the concertgoer gets full value for their hard earned money, the complete setlists for all future concerts should be posted in advance of ticket sales. Just sayin'.

Out of curiousity, why don't you share with us what band you are currently listening to? We all need you to give us an edumacation on music.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:42 PM

Got 'em!

I'll be dragging my non-tattooed, 40+-year-old ass to Hiro on the 26th.

Fuck you ageist hipsters! Enjoy the Pearl Jam show asshole.

Posted by sea hag | May 21, 2008 12:55 PM

...by the way, I saw Pearl Jam in 91 at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit, when they were actually ABOUT something. Ha-ha.

Posted by sea hag | May 21, 2008 12:57 PM

"Anyway, I am going to a real show that night(Pearl Jam)"

I am having a bet with a co-worker.... He says that you are 14, I say 30. Who wins?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 1:10 PM

'acoustic' performance = strapped-for-cash grab.

Posted by greg | May 21, 2008 3:06 PM

What time does Daft Punk go on?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 3:44 PM

All I want to hear is "supernova."

Guess I'll have to wait for the Whip-Smart show.

Posted by tony | May 21, 2008 5:45 PM

Pear Jam smokes donkey dix...

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 7:43 PM

"Steve Albini hit it on the nose back then, and history has proven him correct."

Steve Albini said this in regards to Liz Phair:
"Artists who survive on hype are often critic's pets. They don't, however, make timeless, classic music that survives trends and inspires generations of fans and other artists."

That's funny, considering that 15 years later Exile in Guyville is considered by many to be timeless, classic music that has inspired generations of fans and other artists.
Steve Albini seems to make a hobby out of dissing other musicians and has also said that Surfer Rosa by the Pixies was "A patchwork pinch loaf from a band who at their top-dollar best are blandly entertaining college rock".

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 9:26 PM

Dude, when was the last time you actually listened to this crap before these shows were announced. Liz Phair has one hype-generated popular album. Her 2nd and 3rd albums were even worse, and she was pretty much finished in the business before the decade was over. Her albums are sadly quite dated.
Albini ripped Phair, Pumpkins and Urge Overkill. Of those three, only the Pumpkins can be argued to have lasted past their original hype, and even now Corgin has basically just become a parody of himself.
So basically Albini was actually right on the money about it all.
