Is it 21 plus?

Posted by Star Child | May 19, 2008 6:38 PM

This was supposed to be a "press show," but I guess there aren't enough members of the press who are interested?

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 8:05 PM

Probably just want some of their own fans there. It is difficult to play in front of just "press."

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 8:11 PM

Already going! New Album is awesomeness!

Posted by MOS Fan | May 19, 2008 8:32 PM

I called Mercury Lounge and they knew nothing about this show.

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 9:03 PM

It won't be at the Mercury Lounge, it'll be at the John Varvatos store.

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 9:10 PM

So, if you get the cd, you also get a pair of tickets. None of my friends want to go, so I might have an extra ticket if anyone wants my extra one let me know...

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 9:16 PM

I'd like the extra!

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 9:39 PM

Woops, forgot my handle. That was me that would like the extra. Thanks!

Posted by trailofteeths | May 19, 2008 9:40 PM

trailofteeths, damn you were just a but late. My friend just told me he wants to go after all, sorry! You can still get tickets tommo though...if you buy the cd.

Posted by Anonymous | May 19, 2008 9:47 PM

I'll be at work when the record stores open...that's the problem.

Posted by trailofteeths | May 19, 2008 11:21 PM

trailofteeths, preorder it online (then go to the store and pick it up). Call OtherMusic before you preorder to see if they still have any tickets.

why no real NYC date?

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 12:17 AM

Anon 12:17, what, a small show at the mercury lounge does't cut it for you? You'd rather see them at Terminal 5??

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 12:24 AM

^^^

Moron...I doubt that person meant it that way.

Most likely it is because they are playing the APW Festival and I'm sure there is something in their contract that the band can't play within a certain amount of time in the NY-Metro area of that show.

Whyyy does this need to be the same night as Indie Rock Trivia/Les Savy Fav

These indie rockers need to coordinate their scheds

Posted by Jesus H. Christ | May 20, 2008 12:48 AM

Jesus H. Christ, you can make both. The MOS show starts at 7pm sharp and ends at 8. Doors for the Rock trivia show is at 8. You can make it to highline in about 5-10 min depending on the subway...

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 1:12 AM

Yeah? Good looking out dude.

Posted by Jesus H. Christ | May 20, 2008 1:16 AM

If it's at the John Varvatos store, then why was it posted that it would be at Mercury Lounge?

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 10:03 AM

other music says sold out.

i think the varvatos store thing was a joke. but i assume every comment here is wise-ass.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 10:10 AM

They are SO GOOD live, I was a non-believer but seriously converted once I caught one of their sets.

Posted by Stanley | May 20, 2008 10:57 AM

if anyone has an extra ticket, please let me know! i was a little late reading this post :(

Posted by maureen Lloren | May 20, 2008 11:00 AM

sound fix still has at least 40 tickets.

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 1:12 PM

honest question -- how do they plan on doing this at the mercury lounge if they have another show scheduled that night with doors at 7:30?

the tickets to the mates of state show say that it starts at 7 and ends at 8. what are the chances of them doing like three songs and going home?

They'll more the doors to 8, the first band doesn't go on till 8:30. Problem solved, Anon 1:27

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 1:35 PM

but it isn't 21+ right?

Posted by Anonymous | May 20, 2008 6:03 PM

it's 21+ according to the mercury lounge box office. (i called yesterday).

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 1:47 AM

yeah the venue normally is
but not this event!

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 9:30 AM

How do you know that this event is not going to be 21+?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 10:15 AM

Oh shit! The Mercury Lounge neglected to renew the registration of the domain name of its Web site!
http://www.mercuryloungenyc.com/
(It may have been reactivated by the time you click on this link.)

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 10:25 AM

if it was then soundfix or other music totally would have asked if you were 21+ when asking for the tickets
or alert the kids i imagine!
cuz i'm pretty sure with mates of state atleast half the ppl buying are under 21
that would just be dumb
otherwise there are going to be a swarm of kids not admitted and probably returning their cds
i'm pretty sure the stores would think of that before hand, espsially since it was a "secret" venue and there would be no way of the kids knowing
just commen sense tells me i suppose

and i know that when mercury lounge was asked whether it was 21+ by the other person they were just talking about in general, since it's a secret show and they're suppose to act like they don't know whats going on then

plus the bouncers aren't even there at that time to check ids the doors are still open to all for the box office until 7 which is when it starts

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:47 PM

That makes complete sense. Thanks.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 12:56 PM

Why on the day of the show Mercury Lounge is not saying anything about this Mates of State show when I or others call them? Yesterday they said they don't know what I'm talking about and should be careful to read off blogs or online if it's not on the Mercury Lounge site or Ticketmaster. The girl said the show would not be free either. Why is this such a secret?

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 2:09 PM

A promoter from Bowery Presents just told me it's 21+. Hmmm.

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 2:46 PM

Bad news. I just confirmed that this show (and venue) is 21+ without exception. I was also told:

Wednesday May 21, 2008
Mercury Lounge
Show starts at 7pm sharp and ends at 8pm sharp
---

Posted by brooklynvegan | May 21, 2008 3:01 PM

call other music or soundfix instead
i think they'd know better
since it's not exactly a bowery presented show

Posted by Anonymous | May 21, 2008 4:51 PM

bowery OWNS Mercury Lounge
