NIN The Slip

Last week Nine Inch Nails gave away a song. Today Nine Inch Nails are giving away a whole album called The Slip. Trent says....

as a thank you to our fans for your continued support, we are giving away the new nine inch nails album one hundred percent free, exclusively via nin.com.

the music is available in a variety of formats including high-quality MP3, FLAC or M4A lossless at CD quality and even higher-than-CD quality 24/96 WAVE. your link will include all options - all free. all downloads include a PDF with artwork and credits.

for those of you interested in physical products, fear not. we plan to make a version of this release available on CD and vinyl in july. details coming soon.

Unlike the last surprise album ("Ghosts I-IV"), you don't even have the option of paying for this one.

White Williams, Crystal Castles, Deerhunter, A Place to Bury Strangers and Does It Offend You, Yeah? are the bands that will be opening various upcoming NIN shows. NJ gets Does It Offend You, Yeah? which actually does kind of offend me given the choices. The NJ presale starts Wednesday. Regular sale begins Saturday. All dates with openers and presale info, below....

"for those of you interested in physical products, fear not."
whew, I got really scared for a minute.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:01 AM

man we really got the shittiest possible opener.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:15 AM

Nothing will ever beat Queens Of The Stone Age opening for NIN in '05.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:32 AM

Dresden Dolls was a good opener at that Hammerstein show.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:36 AM

My favorite opener WAS Nine Inch Nails. When they opened for Jesus & Mary Chain.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:37 AM

Best opener I saw for NIN: Pop Will Eat Itself

Best time NIN opened: David Bowie

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 10:46 AM

Best NIN opener: Prick

Worst NIN opener: QOTSA

"man we really got the shittiest possible opener."

personally, i'd much rather see APTBS open. but anything has got to be better than when marilyn manson opened for NIN on the downward spiral tour.

You know we really need to make registration on this site mandatory so everyone doesn't have to address posts by referring to the time the poster posted, but I digress....

10:36, the Hammerstein show was one of the best I've ever seen in my life. I'm only 24 so I didn't get to see them on the Downward Spiral tour but that more than made up for it. They just pummeled us that night. Better than any borefest The Arcade Fire, Wilco or LCD Soundsystem has EVER put on.

"Echoplex" rules!

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 12:06 PM

it's true, QOTSA sucked opening at MSG in '05. Post-Oliveri on the 'Lullabies to Paralyze' tour. It was just dull. They've gotten a bit better since 'Era Vulgaris' came out, but Josh Homme will never get back what he had during the 'Songs for the Deaf' era. He only has himself to blame.

Best NIN show: '05 at Hammerstein. Fucking awesome show!

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 6:18 PM

Thanks Trent for caring. Not a lot of artist (or record company) seems to please the fan as much as he do. Respect.

Posted by Anonymous | May 5, 2008 9:07 PM

...and the album itself is a winner -- kind of like a 'Broken' with a twist of the new Trent.

Posted by greg | May 6, 2008 1:18 PM

does it offend you, yeah is a huge drop off from Death from above and QOTSA, QOTSA is much better with the new line up they have now, the only time their live show was dull was during the LTP era with the members of eleven playing with them

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2008 8:48 PM

Maybe I need glasses for my old age but I do not see NYC in the tour dates.

Yeah DFA1979 was a good opener.I took a long pee break during QOTSA's set because I don't remember how much they sucked at opening.

Posted by Anonymous | May 6, 2008 9:06 PM

ummm... they were okay i guess opening for Jane's Addiction at lollapalooza. Not good enough to see them or buy their albums in the intervening 15 years, but pretty good, i guess.

That guys toxic wast oozing gaping butthole nipple ensemble is quite fetching.

Trent Reznor using the CrysCrap as an opening act is like Obama having Romney as running mate:
