R.E.M., Modest Mouse & the National @ Sasquatch 2008 - pics
photos by Chris Graham

R.E.M., Modest Mouse & The National are now on tour together. They play MSG in NYC on June 19th. All three of them also played the first day of the annual Sasquatch Festival in Gorge, Washington this past weekend (Saturday, May, 24, 2008). It rained a whole bunch. More pictures and stuff from that below.....
The National...

8:15 It started to ran. While Mother Nature threatened rain throughout the day, the sprinkles were beginning to fall hard. It somewhat seemed to be an appropriate time to rain considering Isaaquah's Modest Mouse was about to take the main stage. Something about seeing a Seattle band outdoors in the rain just felt right.Modest Mouse...The group delivered lots of material from its most recent two records. We stuck around to hear "Dashboard" and "Fire It Up" performed in their dual-drumming glory (MM performs live with two drummers in case you didn't know). But Modest Mouse didn't neglect its older material. The romped through "Doin' The Cockroach," a song that had the masses in the moshpit bouncing away, as well as "Trucker's Atlas." I didn't stay too long because I wanted to catch the Breeders and because I had seen MM perform about a dozen times before. [Seattle PI]

R.E.M. (Rapid Eye Michaelstipe), pelted with rain, put on a great, lean, hard-driving show. I realized as I stood there with all these teenagers that I saw R.E.M. 22 years ago in 1985 where they played in a weird auditorium at MIT and blew people's minds. No one did rock & roll like they did back then. With such mystery and intensity and poetry. [Rainn Wilson for Rolling Stone]R.E.M.....
