Rook is the best album of the year, by far. Can't wait for everyone to hear this album.

how was the monday night show? specifically michael gira's set? i wanted to make it but i had too much stuff to do and my girlfriend couldn't make it out in time to the show.

I missed all but Michael Gira's last song, which kinda sucked (not the song, but that I missed him). I thought he was going to encore with Shearwater at the end of the show, but no dice. Shearwater are such a great live band, especially in a concert hall. I found the video of Thor running around in an animal costume to be a little odd and distracting, but that's just cuz I ain't that cultured.

Gira was good, but very short (just under half an hour). setlist:
Promise of Water
Love Will Save You
Opium Song (new)
My Brother's Man
Destroyer

that was it. i'm a huge Gira fan, and enjoyed it a lot, but his show at the Highline back in September was certainly better (not just longer). Also, I found that there was a crazy amount of reverb on the vocals- not sure if that was a room effect or actually added to the voice, but it was a little much. anyway, overall it was really good.

I am pretty sure the vocal reverb was artificial. I was close up and it all sounded to be coming from the sound system at the front of the room.

Gira's set was so, so good. Made much more of an impression on me than Shearwater.
