Spiritualized - 2008 Tour Dates & new video
Spiritualized @ Coachella 2008 (kccr)

Following the beautiful "Acoustic Mainlines" performances in November and April, including a mind-altering performance deep in the desert at this year's Coachella (was it really?), Spiritualized announce plans to return to the US with a full electric band.Bad news for NYC. Tour dates and that video below.....The band will be performing songs from their catalogue, including tracks from their soon-to-be released sixth studio album, Songs in A&E, (May 27, 2008 on Fontana International/Spaceman Records). First single "Soul On Fire" comes replete with a stunning music video, inspired by Jason Spaceman's hospitalization from double pneumonia shortly after recording the album. It was directed by Jim Canty and filmed in London and on a glacier in Iceland.

The only thing mind-altering about the Coachella performance was the murderous anger that the crowd felt for the sound engineer who could not prevent constant feedback or hold levels for an acoustic show...

I saw Spiritualized at the 9:30 Club back in April of '02 & it remains one of my least favorite shows. Jason Pierce stood sideways the whole time & sung to the side of the stage. He not once turned around & faced forward. I heard that's his "thing" & that it wasn't so unusual, but I say fuck that. Turn around & acknowledge your audience! Must you brood that much?!

I stopped by the tent at Coachella. You could not hear anything because of the dance music coming from other tents. Having an acoustic show later in the day at Coachella was a mistake. I was not that upset because I've seen the beautiful Apollo show and there were more than enough other things to see at Coachella.

Hey Jason, whatever you do, don't let your agent talk you into booking Terminal 5. Shoot for the Bowery Ballroom, or even the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Terminal 5 will swallow you whole, then spit you out, leaving you and all your fans very disappointed. Or, try for Irving Plaza. Someplace sorta medium-sized but intimate at the same time.

I think they're too big for the Bowery Ballroom. If they're going the Bowery Presents route, Webster Hall of Terminal 5 is probably where it would happen.
Totally wish they would play Bowery though..that would rule.

Town Hall would be a decent venue for them.

They did the Bowery on a short "pre-album" East coast tour in June '03.
Later that fall on the tour-proper, they came back and did two shows at Irving and one truly amazing night at Northsix, with openers Secret Machines who, at the time, were road testing what was to end up on "Now Here Is Nowhere".
That one remains one of the best shows I've ever seen, period.

That 2002 9:30 Club show was absolutely scorching. If you're bent out of shape because of how he stands on stage, might I suggest Britney Spears or Hannah Montana? What a nauseating position to take on such a potent artist.

I saw them at Glastonbury in 2007 when they played an acoustic show, but I really want to see a proper Spiritualized show. I missed them in Atlanta and Nashville. Well, I think I'll kill myself now. Goodbye world.
