Kimya Dawson's mom and baby (via)

That Kimya post reminded me....
The Moldy Peaches are one of the unlikeliest success stories in indie rock: they went from being a minor novelty act to being essentially broken up to rocking Barbara Walters on The View with a song from the soundtrack to Juno. They've allowed that song, "Anyone Else But You," to be re-written for an ad for the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas. The new version features lyrics like "Let's go ride a couple of dolphins/Or maybe play tennis/Or do some golfing." It's a strange marriage, as the Peaches never seemed like the types to shill at this level, while Atlantis associates themselves with a band who once had a minor hit with a song called "Who's Got the Crack." [Rolling Stone]Watch the ad at Rolling Stone. Watch "Who's Got the Crack?" below....

I'm still wondering why the hell we didn't get a Moldy Peaches show! Maybe if it was for the Hollywood Foreign Press or some shit, they'd play. I'm just bitter and miss them, that's all.

they were annoying back when they were around and they're even more annoying now when they're selling out.

whatever, probably half (if not more) of the people that add their 2 cents on this site work in advertising, marketing, or p.r.

They were a novelty act at best, and Mr. Adam Green is a n uber-wealthy trust fund kid from Bedford, NY. Christ, up until a couple years ago Adam Green's PARENTS were paying his rent, and he even admitted it in an interview back then. How does one get a $3,000+ a month publicist like Big Hassle? (Parents), that apartment in hipster-burg? (Parents). It's good they supported him so long, he's finally starting to have some success. This is coming from a huge fan of Friends of Mine. I think Kimya's more genuine personally. The blogs have ignored her for years until Juno comes out, now all of a sudden they love her. Oh well. I'm happiest for her & her kid. She's worked hard. Any dipshit posting stuff here about selling out probably works at some dopey day-job for a company - which is um, not selling out?

The Moldy Peaches have broken up, and been so for a long time. Kimya went solo, and since she had so many other songs in Juno, got basically all the credit. Though being a musician is her job - the phrase "sellout" doesn't make much sense.
