Since I will be out of town Aug 1 through Aug 10, I can virtually guarantee that the show will take place sometime during that span.

Every NYC show is scheduled for that week. Ugh.

Great news. So glad it isn't free as well, can't stand the crowds.

anon 12:39 most overrated comment ever

you could put all but 5% of bands in that equation.

yeasayer is indie rock for hippies

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 12:55 PM

^^^
Are you sure you don't mean "Hippie rock for indies?"

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 12:57 PM

Undie Rock for Hindies?

Posted by drewo | May 15, 2008 12:59 PM

God, please, when will Yeasayer disappear?

The fretless bass gives it all away. Their shit is prog, but only after prog turned bad. Calling them a "brooklyn band" is like calling IKEA "cool, European interior design."

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 1:29 PM

they sure do have nice turtlenecks though

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 1:33 PM

1:29 - your analogy is absurd and completely irrelevant.

Calling Yeasayer a "brooklyn band" refers to the geographical fact that they live in Brooklyn.

Even though it is often used this way, the term "brooklyn" does not constitute an actual musical style.

Likewise, calling Ikea "european interior design" is correct because the design originates in Europe. calling it "cool" is a judgement call.

However, "european interior design" is not an actual style. cheap department stores love to make you think "european" is a style, but it's not. It's a continent.

They sound like Yes, fronted by a suburban kid who has just discovered emo.

And yes, they probably shop at IKEA.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 2:00 PM

Thank god. Now I don't have to pay $80 to see them.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 2:37 PM

what's wrong with ikea?

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 2:46 PM

Ikea's great

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 2:53 PM

Yeasayer rules. All you guys can do is post comments on blogs

Posted by me | May 15, 2008 2:54 PM

I'm not paying 30 bucks to listen to boring shite musac and watch some dude throw his hand back then follow that up with falling backwards on the floor behind him and squiggle like a turtle on his shellback. How ehh, pre meditated. I don't get the hype.. Ahh, maybe I'm not meant to but DAMN I just DON'T.

Posted by Anonymous | May 15, 2008 3:47 PM

it's all about their song '2080.' the rest of the album is ok.

A little help please. From DC, but willing to travel to catch the summerstage National show since they'd played in the remote sticks of DCurbia - is it (the venue) worth it? Thnx!!!!
