oh shit. the o'jays. i'm kinda curious how many of the members that'll be performing now are original members. also, any guesses on the july 21st show?

i fucking love new york

Posted by david | June 23, 2008 9:07 AM

i heart nyc too. however, erykah can take her shitty attitude back from where it came from. make great music, but don't be such a bitch.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 9:19 AM

What makes her a bitch? I've seen her play live at least three times and she was the warmest, most giving performer I've probably ever seen!

She is a pretty radiant woman and is, in my opinion, a serious pioneer of black music today.

You shouldn't rattle off nasty comments like that arbitrarily.

I'm excited for the show since I missed the last Radio City show, and this one's free!

whatttt
she's an angel.

i remember when lauryn hill played, and i remember what a mess it was.

NOW THAT S A BITCH (HILL)

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 10:35 AM

you mean a "bytch."

"'mystery night' - 'a legend performs in Brooklyn'"

That one woman (I forgot what she calls herself) who posted comments (IN ALL-CAPS) on BV about how she's better than Sharon Jones

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 11:18 AM

Thanks for finding that, 11:26!

Posted by Anon. 11:18 | June 23, 2008 11:33 AM

that's funny that you searched that. My all caps comment came from the fact that I don't give a shit how I post. For the record, I am a white mid lifer from Canada. I love Eryka and I hate Lauryn. Two artists that have seen numerous times live.

Lat time I saw Hill, I had to listen to her bitch about how her life is miserable, that I could not understand. Here I was, listening to a freak, paying 150$ unplug concert (not included dinner and baby sitter for my 4 kids), bitching all night long. Couple of days later, I met up with a local festival director who declared to me how he had to suffer, clearing visas for 13 of her regular personnal entourage... What a freak !

Anon. 12:22, are you Anon. 10:35? My comment had nothing to do with yours.

Posted by Anon. 11:18 | June 23, 2008 12:27 PM

The legend is probably going to be Al Green or Aretha Franklin . And yes Lauryn Hill night last year was true craziness
Expect to have to line up for about 5 hours in advance for Legend Night, Erykah and Jill Scott to even have a chance in getting in Wingate.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 12:40 PM

You're kinda warm on the "mystery night legend," 12:40, but still off. In the same ballpark, though.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 2:00 PM

still no proof of erykah's "bad attitude."

Mystery night = PRINCE

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 3:53 PM

"Mystery night = PRINCE

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 3:53 PM"

Dude, you must work for the event people or inside the Brooklyn Borough President's office but for you to give out the info is such a dick move. They were trying to keep this a secret so real pandemonium does not break out. Thanks for making that difficult now asshole.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 4:15 PM

just saw erykah badu in seattle on this tour! she was better than ever! third time i've seen her. she was truly amazing. she engaged the audience, had a blast and sounded phenomenal! if only the roots wouldn't have phoned it in that night. GO SEE BADU PHUNK IT UP!

Posted by k | June 23, 2008 4:42 PM

OMG PRINCE!!!!!! Thanks for confirming it Anon. 4:15.

Posted by I'm gullible | June 23, 2008 4:53 PM

Well it is actually Prince who is playing

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 5:10 PM

Not Prince -- it's an Obama campaign rally

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 5:16 PM

They should move the Prince show to Keyspan Park.

Posted by drewo | June 23, 2008 5:24 PM

LOL. Trust me, it's not Prince.

He'd probably cost them $300k to perform.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 5:48 PM

It's Prince.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 5:57 PM

Also, I believe it's only a "mystery" until a week or so before the artist performs, so it's not like announcing a free Prince show a week before would cause any less pandemonium than announcing it a MONTH before.

Just a thought.

Posted by Jack | June 23, 2008 5:59 PM

Bonnie "Prince" Billy ?

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2008 12:42 AM

Vampire Weekend

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2008 6:04 PM

Man you posters prove people with computers in Brooklyn are STILL cretins!

Posted by Anonymous | July 2, 2008 8:22 PM

Anyone know who the mystery night was last year?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2008 2:51 AM

Same ballpark?

Stevie Wonder?

Posted by Anonymous | July 8, 2008 10:35 AM

the mystery guest is john legend

Posted by niba86 | July 15, 2008 4:34 PM

Duh of course its John Legend. Anyone who could not figure that out from "a legend performs in Brooklyn" is a fucking dope. Did any of you really think it was Prince or what lying anon 2pm tried to infer when they said it was close to Al Green or Aretha Franklin. Are people really that stupid?

Posted by A Manhattan Not Brooklyn Asshole | July 15, 2008 4:44 PM

here it is the info straight out of the camles mouth. i personallyknow a musician who is going to be playing for the so called mystery artist and he plays for john legend . so there it goes folks no prince no erica its john legend and estelle

Posted by Tilt | July 19, 2008 11:47 AM

Tilt,
When do they let you out of the insane asylum? Thanks for the news Captain Obvious. They announced who the mystery artist was a week ago on their web site not to mention at all the free shows they had in Brooklyn this week. Go look on the website genius. But thanks for that "inside" information. And when you say no erica, you probably mean no ERYKAH and yes she is not playing this week. She plays Aug 04 but i'm sure you had some inside information on that also.
