Anyone have seating charts for this place???

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 9:57 AM

Can't make heads or tails from the chart on TMaster. Not worth spending over $200 on questionable seat locations.

Posted by drewo | June 2, 2008 10:07 AM

at 10:15, its still definitely not sold out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:07 AM

holy shite, $269 for four lawn seats?!?!?!? might have to catch this one outside the fence...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:21 AM

^^^

Well, it IS Bob Dylan we're talking about. Not Feist or Spoon or anything. I think $55 is pretty darn affordable considering who it is!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:22 AM

ahhh, the circus

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:32 AM

Disregard the seating chart that they have up--that is not even for the bandshell, that is for the Universoul circus which is under a circus tent, totally different. Meantime I have searched high and low and found no chart for the bandshell; although I've been in there many times, I never bothered to notice the seat system! I got Row C but i don't think that's third row, I think there are doubles before that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:36 AM

"$269 for four lawn seats"

"I think $55 is pretty darn affordable considering who it is!"

$269 / 4 = $67, not $55

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:37 AM

$55 - $100 seats is a lot of money for Prospect Park. this show belongs in Central Park or MSG. although, there are plenty of ibanker, trust-fund types in Park Slope who will shell out money for this and bring their dogs and other assorted adorable furry animals with them (babies includes).

Posted by TooMuchMoney | June 2, 2008 10:38 AM

The double letters might be after the single ones?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:40 AM

did anyone get a double lettered seat? maybe there are none. hoping.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:43 AM

I got a CC seat.

Posted by nyctaper | June 2, 2008 10:45 AM

yeah, i got a pair in row BB center section for the full $100 price (well, more like $116 after fees).

i didn't get them till many tries and throwing back earlier pairs not in center (Left center, right center).

those off-center seats were $85, and ones in row Q center were $85, but ones in row F were $100, so i'm hoping that we can deduce that double letter rows are before the single letter ones.

therefore, i hope i got 2nd row center, cos that would be SWEET!

Posted by Qbertplaya | June 2, 2008 10:48 AM

double letter seats were cheaper than the single letter seats i think, so i think it's single first, but who the fuck knows since there is no seating chart?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:49 AM

guys - i dont know what the huge surprise is...bob dylan tics are always outlandish...and to be honest...i think it's justified.

if you cant afford the tics, or you'd rather blow that $67 at motor city or something...then that's that...

but just because someone can afford the tics, is no reason to hate on them. perspective...who cares if people have cash in park slope...it's a fact - there is always going to be someone with more money than ALL of us.

dylan at prospect park will be great environment to see him (ethem - voice pending)...im glad it's not an msg show...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:50 AM

this will be a very tame concert full of 40-55 year old had-kids-late people thank godding each other that bush is leaving while they sip wine and encourage their children to set off and explore the area. actually im positive it will be a very well-adjusted and well-behaved crowd.

PASS

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:53 AM

Bob Dylan? Who cares? It's not like he's Dan Deacon.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:54 AM

it wouldn't be a bv comments page without a couple swipes at park slope. keep living the dream, haters.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:57 AM

^^

so true! Dan Deacon > Mozart + Dylan + Daft Punk

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:59 AM

Come on, C Row holders! You paid $85, you know you didn't get third row. Double letters come first, but not sure how many double letter seats there are. Could be 26, could be less, could be some triple letter seats.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 10:59 AM

So only bankers & trust fund-types living in Park Slope can afford the $67 tickets to see Bob Dylan?

I still think that's pretty darn cheap for Bob Dylan. And I'm no trust fund baby.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:02 AM

oh yes, lots of wine and cheese will be passed around in this concert crowd. meanwhile, you know what Bobby D. really thinks of these yuppie sellouts. he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Posted by CheeseCrowd | June 2, 2008 11:03 AM

Take a trip with me to Stapleton Town.
Where all the musicians are gathered around.
They're bothered & brooding with eyes all ablaze.
They rather play here than Brooklyn these days.

Hey, hey-now Bobby, I wrote you a song.
'Bout that funny old Island that's coming along.
It's sick and it's hungry, it's tired and torn.
The South fights the North & it's hardly been born.

Call me a phony, call me what you will.
But I'm walkin' down roads you have gone down.
I'm seeing your world of people and things.
Your paupers, pirates, princes and kings.

Here's to Grinders,Tompkins, & Chester Place too.
And all the good people, and that includes you.
Here's to the blood and the mud of our land.
That smells like the swamp and broke up the band.

Hey, hey-now, Bobby, but I know that you know
All the things I'm a-sayin' an' many times more.
I’m looking for the man who points to what’s true
But Mr. Zimmerman called, he was looking for you.

I’m out here, just a few miles from my home.
Singing old songs, trying to make them my own.
But under a stone there’s a fountain of youth
Somewhere between 4th Street, Van Duzer, and Duluth.

Wine & cheese are delicious

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:07 AM

somehow I don't think Dylan is cashing in here. Prices are fairly reasonable for the chance to see a living legend play in the best outdoor venue in the NYC area.

Besides... the guy has been touring constantly for the past 20 years. I think it's what he enjoys and what he does best. He's got more money than he knows what to do with.

Someone like Sting, on the other hand... is a cash cow. If this were a Police show at Prospect Park the cheapest tickets would be $150.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:09 AM

i'm pretty sure i paid more to see him a year and a half ago when he played city center ($125?), and this show is to benefit celebrate brooklyn! -- those free shows at the bandshell -- so it seems like he's not cashing in, at least not as much as he has for shows in the past.

Posted by Anonymous Dylan Fan | June 2, 2008 11:20 AM

since when are wine, cheese, and bob dylan bad things? i paid, and it hurt, but its dylan in prospect park.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:24 AM

Im pretty sure you can jump the fenct in the bank if you really want to go and dont wanna pay. that fence is what 3 feet tall? aint gonna stop me.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:30 AM

I doubt this is at the bandshell - probably the lawn set up.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:30 AM

sorry the Dylan tickets "hurt". we feel your "pain"... what, with all the suffering going on in the world (China, Burma) and in the city these days... but some great brie cheese and wine with a blanket will make up for it all. and hopefully Scruffy, your pet maltese will be on good behaviour.

Posted by WhiteAsAKite | June 2, 2008 11:33 AM

I love Bob Dylan but he is not a good live show anymore. He rushes through the songs and sings off beat so teh audience can't sing along.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:33 AM

But Bob Dylan shows are pretty hard to listen to. Many people dig it, I happen to be one of the many that don't. I love Bob Dylan CDS and live boots from the 60s and 70s, but his voice now makes most of the songs unrecognizable. They band is pretty awesome and amazing, but Bob doesn't say a word at all other than to introduce his band.

I'll pass on this show and save 200 bucks. Good thing, cause I just spent 500 bucks on Pearl Jam tickets at Beacon!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:35 AM

you are aware that pain comes in many levels. the dylan price hurt like a minor tooth ache, not a burmese storm. ass.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:38 AM

oh, sorry to hear about that. for minor toothaches, I recommend a clove oil compress or an over the counter remedy like Orajel.

Posted by WhiteAsAKite | June 2, 2008 11:48 AM

thanks!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 11:56 AM

C'MON FOLKS, THIS IS THE EASIEST VENUE TO CRASH, IT'S A FREE CONCERT MAN, FREE!!!

Posted by Bubba | June 2, 2008 12:02 PM

@11:33am: "He rushes through the songs and sings off beat so teh audience can't sing along."

This is not a bad thing. I'm paying to hear the performer sing, thanks, not my fellow audience members.

Got Row H seats for this show after much back-and-forth with my wallet and TMaster's gear-grinding services. Dylan is one of the few artists still alive worth this kind of dosh (wait, I said the same thing about Steely Dan just last week!) and this should be a great summer evening setting.

Last saw Mr. Z. at MSG back in '78. Nice to know he's still rolling along 30 years later.

Posted by drewo | June 2, 2008 12:04 PM

free show.....just set up right next to venue...

$85 ...whateva...

Dylan is a legend, but no one who tours constantly is worth $85 ...

Posted by ebc | June 2, 2008 12:08 PM

Daft Punk? What time?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 12:21 PM

Crash this concert? Listen from outside the barriers? Not a chance. For the past two years, Manu Chao has done benefit concerts at Prospect Park Bandshell and the police presence has essentially prevented anyone from watching or listening to the concert from outside the designated seating areas.
And, the scalpers/counterfeiters have been out in droves. As for lawn seating, splurge for a few extra bucks to have a seat. You'll be fighting for a view with zillions of other people on the lawn.

signed: Park Slope Yuppie between 40 and 55 years of age. No, I won't be bringing my kids in strollers: they're 18 and 20 years old.

Posted by famdoc | June 2, 2008 12:32 PM

its not a few extra bucks - its 30 - meaning 120 for my four tickets.

do you want to pay the difference?

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 12:36 PM

anonymous (12:36)...no, I don't want to pay the difference. But, if you can come up with it and anticipate enjoying this concert, it might be worth having fewer margaritas in the next several weeks and using the savings to pay for the advantage of having reserved seats.

As for ticketmaster, they are evil. Exactly who is "convenienced" by their outrageous convenience charge of $12.30 per ticket. Not to mention the "order processing fee." There ought to be an alternative.

Last Dylan concert I saw? The Rolling Thunder Revue in Boston, November, 1975. Jeez, I'm old.

Posted by famdoc | June 2, 2008 12:42 PM

more like inconvenience charge. take that fees!

Anyway, anyone who pays to see this show is dumb. It's grass people! Just tunnel under like the rest of us. Duh.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 12:46 PM

I can't believe how incredibly dumb I am for paying for this show, especially since I scored seats and won't have to sit on the lawn with the rest of the serfs. It was an error in judgement on my part considering how Dylan sucks so badly. I should have saved my money for two guys who pop out of a pyramid and press a bunch of buttons that create some form of dance music. That's sounds far more enjoyable than seeing Dylan.

Posted by TWB | June 2, 2008 1:03 PM

I find it sad that this guy is trying to capitalize on his son's fame.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 1:11 PM

I'm going back to McCarren Park Pool, I do believe I've had enough

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 1:23 PM

anon 1:11 wins the funny contest

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 1:47 PM

"I find it sad that this guy is trying to capitalize on his son's fame"

hahahahahahahahahaha that may have been the funniest thing i read all day

also, being within 200 yards of the most important musician of all time is worth $67, just sayin'.

you've been spoiled with free helio sponsered lameness at mccarren where 90% of the bands will be irrelevant in 5 years.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 1:51 PM

It'll be just like going to see M.I.A. or Dan Deacon 40 yrs from now when they're still kicking ass, wouldn't you pay for that? Oh, wait....

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:14 PM

^^^ is dylan 40 years ago a proper comparison to MIA or Dan Deacon now? hmmm.... seeing as MIA and Dan Deacon are one trick ponies and Dylan is arguably the greatest artist of our time, I don't think so.

Dylan has more talent in his 67 year old pinky than MIA or Dan Deacon will ever have. They really shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath. I'm guessing Dylan is going to "kill it" like always at this performance. Maybe it won't be as mind-blowing as seeing MGMT or Yeasayer or Fuck Buttons or Fleet Foxes or whatever the fuck band is getting buzz now and will be forgotten in a year's time, but he'll still "kill it".

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:32 PM

^^^ is dylan 40 years ago a proper comparison to MIA or Dan Deacon now? hmmm.... seeing as MIA and Dan Deacon are one trick ponies and Dylan is arguably the greatest artist of our time, I don't think so.

I understand where you are coming from as you are supportive of these artists but your remark is completely insane. Way too many people have commented that Dylan is the best songwriter of the last 50 years. Your comparison is not even in the same universe.

Stating that I am skipping the show as I have seen him way too many times and live he is going through the motions.

Posted by Adan | June 2, 2008 2:38 PM

You missed my point, dude. I'm on your side here. Dan Deacon and M.I.A. are flashes in the pan, nothing more. They'll be gone in 5 years, let alone 40...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:45 PM

@ 2:32 ---
no one asked you, old man.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:46 PM

...and incidentally, no other artist mentioned on this site is a proper comparison to Dylan (if there are any, for that matter!)

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:47 PM

You guys are all gay for Dan Deacon. Seriously, if you're so upset that people bring him up too much QUIT BRINGING HIM UP! Some people like him, some don't (including many of you, yes I understand). Just let it go!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 2:53 PM

sitting outside the venue and seeing the show for free ain't what it used to be.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 3:15 PM

ok ok. i paid $40 to see the raconteurs friday, that show was amazing - jack white is right on up there with dylan. seriously he is, they're both prolific artists and cross-over pioneers.

and i went straight from not buying dylan tickets cus they were too expensive to buying Black Keys tickets for $30. but pricey but their only show in NYC for a long time and new album is sick.

SOOOOO, do you see two bands in their prime, whose music will absolutely be around in 40 years (whatever the hell that means) or a living legend whose just a-crankin out the oldies babayyy!!

or you're rich and do it all...

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 3:21 PM

dylan doesn't just crank out the oldies. He just put out one of his best albums ("Modern Times") two years ago... and an even better one ("Love & Theft") a few years before that. And I doubt most of you would even recognize the "oldies" when he plays them.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 3:50 PM

"And I doubt most of you would even recognize the "oldies" when he plays them."

but I bet I could recognize you as an oldie if I saw ya!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 3:55 PM

ok ok. i paid $40 to see the raconteurs friday, that show was amazing - jack white is right on up there with dylan. seriously he is, they're both prolific artists and cross-over pioneers.

Love your passion but comparing White to Dylan-guy study up on your history. I respect White but lets face it, his career is too short to compare him to Dylan and artists like Iggy Pop have had more impact than White. Dylan is a one in a lifetime artist who has had a profound political and artistic influence that few has had. What kind of cross-over pioneer is White? Yes, he is a prolific artist but so are thousands of other artists.

Posted by Adam | June 2, 2008 3:57 PM

Well... you can see both The Raconteurs AND Bob Dylan (as well Black Keys, Gnarls Barkley, Spoon, The Roots) for the mere cost of $50/ticket at the New American Music Union Festival in Philly Aug. 8-9.

Posted by Jesus H. Christ | June 2, 2008 3:59 PM

I'd rather see radiohead than any of those guys you all name

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 4:21 PM

that festival is in pittsburgh not philly.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 4:30 PM

bah I bought 2 Dylan Tix and didn't realize I have Radiohead tix! I'll sell my center row N tix for face!

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 7:32 PM

"that fence is what 3 feet tall? "

The fence during paid conference is around 9-10 feet tall. You can't see into the space.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 8:00 PM

Wilco in Williamsburg is a day before on August 12. Maybe Dylan will make a guest appearance on vocals for a 35 minute version of Misunderstood. "I'd like to thank yoooooouuuuuuuu..............................for nothing.........................noooooothing atttttttt allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll" Ad infinitum. OK, I am burning in Bob Dylan hell.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 8:58 PM

same night as neil diamond! noooooooo!

thanks BV.

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 9:05 PM

thankfully, neil's playing two other nights. This is going to be an amazing week:

8/12 - Bob Dylan @ Prospect Park
8/13 - Wilco @ McCarren Pool
8/14 - Neil Diamond @ MSG

Posted by Anonymous | June 2, 2008 9:20 PM

Dylan or Diamond? Hummm, the debate is endless.

But while you're thinking it over why not think about checking out my new novel, BLOOD ON THE TRACKS, which I think you guys might enjoy.

It's a murder-mystery. But not just any rock superstar is knocking on heaven's door. The murdered rock legend is none other than Bob Dorian, an enigmatic, obtuse, inscrutable, well, you get the picture...

Suspects? Tons of them. The only problem is they're all characters in Bob's songs.

You can get a copy on Amazon.com or go "behind the tracks" at www.bloodonthetracksnovel.com to learn more about the book.

Posted by Anonymous | June 3, 2008 1:17 PM

Does anyone know if teh show is sold out? I just tried getting 2 or 3 tickets, using best available, any price (and numerous variations of this), using TILDEN, and it says nothing is available. Thanks!
