buy Cloud Cult's Carson Daly painting on eBay

Speaking of needing ways to fund the ever-increasing cost of touring, Cloud Cult has an ingenious method (though not necessarily an original one) for making extra cash at shows. A painter (usually Craig's wife) paints a painting on stage while the band is playing. Then they silent-auction the painting off to the crowd. Not only does the winner get a unique piece of merch to remember the show by, Cloud Cult makes decent money - probably more than they make from ticket sales at some shows. Someone told me they've sold them for as high as $2000, and they always seem to sell for at least a few hundred dollars at the shows I'm at.
They painted the above one the other day on the Carson Daly show, and now everyone has the chance to buy it.
A picture of the one they painted at their last Brooklyn show at Union Hall is below...

This has been going on in the jamband circles for ages. I've seen J. Garcia (quite the original name there) paint with a number of different bands.

This reminds me of the video for The Outfield's "Your Love" which featured a woman painting while the band performed. IIRC, her painting turned out to be their album's cover.
At the end of the video, she leaves the soundstage and emerges onto the street — the east side of Crescent Street, looking south towards Broadway, in Astoria, which was weird because that building wasn't a studio (film or recording).

I've known Craig, Connie, and Scott since 1993.
The term "Jam Band" and Cloud Cult together makes me laugh.
In the pre-touring Minneapolis days, Cloud Cult donated the money from the paintings to environmental charities, and I wouldn't be surprised if they still did. In fact, I would be more surprised if they were pocketing the money.
There are two painters, both with BFAs, Connie Minowa and Scott West. West left a lucrative career as an artist (complete with dog and house in the suburbs) to join Cloud Cult. Both are considered band members, no different from Sarah Young the cellist.
I don't know what in the world "Anonymous" is talking about when he says "J. Garcia." Anonymous, what are you talking about when you say "J. Garcia"?
