i hate to be harsh, but when i saw D&N open up for Boris, they were pretty bad. i enjoy their early stuff like the "more sad hits" album but whatever they were playing last fall was total NPR-core. maybe my expectations (which did not include wanting to see them play Galaxie 500 songs) were too high.
i am eagerly awaiting the time when "the money is right" and Galaxie 500 gets back together. maybe they could play the Dont Look Back thing.

^^
I saw that tour and thought it was pretty good. What on the surface seemed an odd billing proved to be a pretty balanced and gorgous show. Kurihara's guitar playing was gorgeous. Then Boris came on and killed it.
A Don't Look Back Galaxie 500 performance would be great but, judging from Wareham's recent memoir, the chances of that ever happening would be slim at best. But who knows? Money talks...

this was a good show last night, but shockingly under-attended! whether because of the early start time (whole thing was done by 9:40), the rain or just general disinterest, there were about 25 people at Southpaw last night. Hopefully more will attend tonight. I'm surprised that more people aren't excited to see Masaki Batoh, at least.
