George Carlin, RIP

Comedian-actor George Carlin, known for his raunchy but insightful humor, died of heart failure Sunday in Los Angeles, his publicist said. He was 71.Jeff Abraham says Carlin went into St. John's Health Center on Sunday afternoon, complaining of chest pain. Carlin died at 5:55 p.m. PDT, The Associated Press reported.
Carlin, who had a history of heart trouble, performed as recently as last weekend at the Orleans Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas. [CNN]

I can't believe it. We just lost one hell of an icon. Someone who refused to believe American BS and not only did he pick it apart, but he made it hysterically funny.
I miss him already.

i saw him live back in like '89 or '90 and it was honestly one of the most memorable experiences. he was slagging off bs long before it was hip.

he might have wrote some ok stuff but couldn't stand his delivery. just wasn't funny.

the dude who said he wrote 'ok' stuff and couldn't stand carlin's delivery is probably 15. Carlin was in a class all to his own. He was a comedian amongst jokesters.

he was a little too grumpy at the end, yes. i'm sure we'll all be feeling that way.
but he was a counter-culture icon, for sure. as anther poster said, willing to point out the BS of aspects of american govt and life. really fucking funny. RIP
