what a queer

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 2:47 PM

"what a queer"

stop talking about your dad like that, especially right before Father's Day

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 2:54 PM

which queer?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:02 PM

that party does not look fun. what kind of music did James play?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:10 PM

I don't have enough money to go to "fancy" parties...

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:10 PM

James played some metalica, then a little third eye blind and topped it off with some lifehouse

Posted by broski | June 11, 2008 3:12 PM

i'm not one to normally think or say such things, but looking at these photos of james i-heart-my-ego, i don't think i've ever wanted to bitch slap someone so badly for looking so darn smug.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:16 PM

looks like thad and muffy and the other 20 socialites in attendance had a grand old time!

Posted by robert doosh | June 11, 2008 3:17 PM

self-conscious bourgeois bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:19 PM

chad: "who are these djs? disco is gay."

chandler: "i think they're from lsd soundtribe or something, bro. i think i got one of their songs on itunes."

patsy: "these pearls are too tight."

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:24 PM

why doesn't everyone relax? have any of you ever been to a charity benefit before?

the pictures look pretty standard to me, it wasn't a fucking concert.

"i'm not one to normally think or say such things, but looking at these photos of james i-heart-my-ego, i don't think i've ever wanted to bitch slap someone so badly for looking so darn smug."

someone's projecting...he doesnt look smug at all.

also this wasn't meant to be some throwdown. just because people behave themselves and drink champagne as opposed to cheap beer doesn't mean it's not a party. granted, it's a different type of party but could be fun.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:30 PM

james is actually a super nice dude...and probably one of the only musicians i truly deem 'talented' today in 2008.

its a money gig...let him enjoy it. i wish i went.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:31 PM

"self-conscious bourgeois bullshit."

I think you were going for "self-righteous," chief.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:31 PM

no i wasn't "boss."

i was going for "self-conscious." you know, the way people at those kind of things usually stand around looking around at everyone else all night, feeling really SELF-CONSCIOUS.

but, i'll grant you there were surely some "self righteous" bobos there, as well.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:42 PM

I don't get it. murphy's just dj-ing. and the performance was to help raise money for the museum's educational programs.

where's the smugness and bourgeois in raising money to promote culture in america?

>>james is actually a super nice dude...and probably one of the only musicians i truly deem 'talented' today in 2008.

for the love of all that is green and blue on this earth, you can NOT be fucking serious?! one of the only talented musicians in '08? um, you do realize that statement means all the musicians who live past your block in williamsburg, right? yeah, thought so brah.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:46 PM

maybe he's talented in running a label and maybe he's talented at spinning records, but seriously, as a musician, what the fuck are you talking about? you must live a ridiculously secluded life.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:48 PM

The chick in the white dress and heals is hawt. I wanna sip from her cup. ;-)

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:58 PM

i dunno...ive been into this music for 20 years now. i have over 5000 records and have seen all of the bands you idolize.

and in my opinion, dude is ultra talented. sound of silver is a synthesis of 25 years of punk and post punk and electronic music.

lcd is talking heads for 2008.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 3:59 PM

oh, and i live in the village.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:00 PM

3:58 wtf you're so dumb! It's "heels" not heals!!!!
Though that was an appealing comment.

-anon 3:58 himself

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:01 PM

guys watch what you say he might come on here and throw a shit-fit again.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:06 PM

Notice the obscured face, 3:58? That's a dude.

M.I.A. said it herself [at the pool show] "your either for people or for money" is still cant decide what these people are for

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:40 PM

yes, lets quote MIA's philosophical nuggets

idiotic.

nothing in life is that black and white.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:46 PM

mah, mah, mah - everything sucks

mah, mah - you all live in williamsburg so you all really suck

T5 sucks, daft punk sucks, LCD sucks, hipsters suck, fancy parties are not cool.

really?!

chill the fuck out and shut up.

the relentless "you suck", negative comments are getting very, very old.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 4:49 PM

"M.I.A. said it herself [at the pool show] "your either for people or for money" is still cant decide what these people are for"

haha I remember hearing that, but forgot....oh the irony. What does it say that RATM used to be the standard "radical" artist/performer, and now it's MIA? I mean, at RATM knew what the fuck they were talking about. MIA is, in the words of one high schooler, "a phony."

Posted by Holden | June 11, 2008 5:00 PM

and james murphy is a smug bastard.

You know what's even older than snarky comments? meta-comments on the snarky comments. When people suck, they should be called out on it.

Posted by Holden | June 11, 2008 5:01 PM

wait, please tell me, did mia really say this at her show? > "your either for people or for money"

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:07 PM

yes.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:09 PM

oh sweet jesus, where to even begin with mia and her, as one poster so perfectly commented upon, "philosophical nuggets".

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:11 PM

hahahahahahahahaha

LCD Soundsystem's Sound of Silver was rated the best cd of the year by the majority of magazines that compiled "top 10 of 2007" lists. saying they're bad really doesn't make sense.

you can say you don't "understand" them, but it's tough to talk shit about a band like that without sounding like an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:08 PM

there were poor people there too...i read it in the brochure.

Posted by class war | June 11, 2008 6:35 PM

I attended this soiree last night. Black tie affair, hot as shit, wool suits, poorly engineered tents that cascaded rain run-off the marble, free delicious drinks made with expensive alcohol and sweet desserts which i never would have enjoyed had a friend of mine not gotten me a ticket as an employee. The DJ set was lackadaisically executed but seemingly on point nonetheless. In the rush to cover and protect speakers I think some levels were messed with and the majority was indiscernible, but the low end sounded good. I'm sure the monitors sounded fine and the guys just seemed to be playing records they liked back and forth for one another with little regard for audience reaction, nice format I just wish I had been invited to that party, I couldn't hear shit. My friend asked me after MIA finished the set when LCD was coming on, if that's any indication of their impact. Speaking of miss mia she asked everyone in the crowd, from Chuck Close to claire danes, to "make art less elitist." But
I don't think she needed to pull up the people by their wingtips in the sculpture garden. Most danced, sweated and then i hit a home run. It was nice to hear those gunshot samples echo through midtown at 12 am.

Rock N' Roll! FUCK YEAH!!! PARTEEEEEE!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 10:22 PM

This looks like modern minstrelsy.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 12:07 AM

hey MIA, want to make art less elitist? start by not playing shows AT THE FUCKING MOMA with canapes and petifores and shit like that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 2:02 AM

Die yuppie scum.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 10:49 AM

money or people?

people doesnt pay the bills and they are quite lazy and inefficient without the prospect of monetary compensation so ahhh i choose money.
