Jamie Lidell's new album is called Jim, which makes introductions more than somewhat confusing. "It's actually quite rare that people call me Jim," he says with a vigorous handshake. In his other hand is a pink cowboy hat. "Jimmy and Jimbo crop up. My sister calls me Jam and so does my mum. It pays to have a lot of names. I haven't changed my name completely like Dylan. But maybe I should for the next record." [The Independent]Jam played his first of two shows at Bowery Ballroom last night. The second one is tonight (June 9, 2008). If you miss them both, there's always Summerstage. More pictures and tour dates below....

Is Lidell still playing the Central Park show? I've noticed on the Summerstage website that he's no longer listed on the bill:

If not, do what you can to see him Monday... he was great last night!

He wasn't only great. Man, what a show. Best show of the year so far for me.

anyone got an extra for tonight?

if you can see him at bowery tonight, definitely try to do it. sure summerstage will also be great i'm sure, but the video setup he his is pretty crazy and he interacts with the crowd a lot, so i wonder if some of that will be lost in a bigger place with a barrier.

F*cking awesome! Too bad NYC doesn't seem to know how to dance.

Agreed...I was in the balcony and looking down below, everybody except the first two rows or so was standing entirely still -- I don't understand how anyone can NOT dance like crazy for Lidell...
