i want to like it, but i can't. if i listen watch the video and don't pay attention the song comes through every once and again. however i found it too easy to ignore. trite, derivative pap.

This song is great, and criticizing any music at this point for being "derivative" is ridiculous.

what if i just call it bad then?

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2008 6:11 PM

then you have every right to. I enjoyed it thoroughly its a great, simple tune. Nothing GROUNDBREAKING but I still think its great.

anyone else think conan's show went downhill when andy richter left?

what would happen if his hat went missing? could he still perform. i just imagine that underneath is a glass dome with an exposed brain.

i think light speed champion is pretty cool. simple pop songs, i don't know what some of you folks expect.

so good, the show at the bowery was incredible

Some people like some bands; other people like other bands. Groundbreaking.

That hat makes him look like an autistic child.

Oh shit, that's it. He's autistic, I get it!

I dig it. Wish I saw the Bowery show.

I didn't know the Dears changed their name.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2008 2:12 PM

why is this like The Dears? because the lead singer is black?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2008 2:33 PM

New poster here - the record sounds exactly like the Dears. Skin color is irrelevant.

i don't know, this is kinda good. simple, DIY, not too polished (read: perfectly "styled"). just fucked-up punk-folk.

i like how they all don't look like perfect hipster models. (even though i'm well aware that he's a hipster darling)

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2008 4:45 PM

it sounds a little too close to the Dears, and they could use a better violinist.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2008 7:56 PM

they do all look like hipsters- apart from the violin guy. who i dont think is in his full time band....

people went mad for him in the uk because he was in testicicles. now its hard to take him seriously. However he is a really amazingly nice guy and if you get the chance to talk to him about jeffrey brown or john porcellino comics then you'll have a great time.

as for the music...thats the best ive heard out of him...

that was really bad, just really bad, not much else to say.

Feh...kind of mediocre. But I'd hate to judge a band solely on one live song on a tv show. But nothing grabbing me here.

Posted by William | June 13, 2008 6:24 AM

That was probably the worst live show I've seen him perform. He's much better on (website) liveroom.tv ... so much better.

Galaxy of the Lost is a great track!

At first I hated the performance. On second listen, you know, it's not so bad. You kind of have to realize that this is not going to sound like an album. It's going to sound like a live performance. Again, second listen... not so bad.
