Make Music New York is NYC's largest music event, with 850 free concerts on streets, sidewalks and parks, all on the first day of summer. go to governor's island if you want good music as part of this. they're turning it into "punk island" and will have over 70 bands playing without any noise level restrictions (because obviously nobody lives on governor's island so who cares how loud it gets). i doubt i'll be able to hit that up but it sounds fucking awesome to me.

that website is confusing as fuck. when you click on Bedford Street events it takes you to a listing of places on Bedford, wtf?

That Punk Island thing is a ploy to get the last hundred or so punks left in the New York City metro area into a isolated place where they will be "deloused" with Zyklon B. Giuliani did the EXACT same thing with the homeless in the mid 90's. You have been warned.
