M.I.A. & DJ Low B or just Low B?, choose your afterparty
M.I.A. @ McCarren Pool in 2006 (more by Bao)
Tonight (June 6) is not only the M.I.A. and Holy Fuck show in Brooklyn, it's also the first McCarren Pool show of the summer. It is not free though, and tickets are sold out.
What are you doing after the show? There are a few semi-official options...
- @ Europa: 'Post M.I.A MCCARREN POOL party featuring Million $ Mano / Kids with Snakes / DJ Sexxxual Chocolate / DJ Full Time Fun / !!SPECIAL GUESTS!'
And this was supposed to be the part where I tell you that M.I.A. is deejaying this party along with one of her DJs Low B, but now I don't know because I don't see that part anymore and they added a disclaimer that says "NO, this party is not affiliated with the concert!!! Just because you have a ticket to the show does not mean you can get into the afterparty! Please do not request media/comp admission from MIA's people. They will not know what you're talking about. So I suggest you buy your tickets in advance!" I have no idea.
- @ Studio B: This one is the reason the other party seems to be freaking out now. This is also the Field show...

Low B is Mike "Low Budget" from Hollertronix. He was her touring DJ during the fall tour, and an overall swell dude.

I caught the field last night in philly, and the new band setup is awesome. the sound is a lot more aggressive than his earlier lackluster sets. if you're a fan of album, i'd defintly check it out tonight, but set the is a little on the short side. it would of been the perfect opener to four tet.

This was not Europa's doing. An outside promoter is throwing the party tonight there tonight. She came to the club with the "official" afterparty with a line-up featuring Low-B . Two days ago she contacted the club with a different line-up not featuring low-b and asked that official be removed from the listings.
Europa has no intention of piggybacking on the event or M.I.A.'s fame. This party now is what it is. And we have made all efforts in promotion to make it clear that the party is not official in anyway.

i saw mia live on summerstage. it was okay. her sound seems like it be best in a a club at night with a good dance floor. not outdoors. i still liked just hearing the songs.

Most of you people are right to be negative about the Europa show. I went earlier tonight and it wasn't even worth the $5 for the few minutes we stayed. Just an empty dance floor and groups of Euro Trash types sipping their booze in dark corner booths.
