I initially liked These New Puritans but I'm going off them quite quickly now, has anyone seen them live recently?

"dont think regular people are gonna be able to get into this to check out These New Puritans if that door slut thomas is workin' the door. lucky they're playing music hall of billyburg on sunday. plus opener School of Seven Bells rocks!!!"

Real classy there. Yes, Misshapes will probably have a questionable door policy - in part due to the lack of advanced tickets sales and the amount of people that will want to get in, but to try and scare people away from their party to get them to your own is pretty low.

the misshapes? ugh so that means they'll be there playing their top 40 shit....guhraaaate...

I’ve never understood the vitriol directed at Misshapes. Three talented, beautiful people throw a good party and naturally attract a huge following. Then they capitalize on their popularity by creating a successful brand—good for them! It’s not like they’re kicking puppies or investing in blood diamonds.

If celebrity-DJed hipster saturated parties aren’t your thing, there are hundreds of good underground parties in NY that will fit your style. Why hate on Misshapes?

"Talented"

"beautiful"

....

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2008 12:46 PM

why hate? Because it's possible anybody with black hair dye and a sneer could be a celebrity IPOD (!!) dj with the absolute absence of talent it requires.

But it's these fuckers, and they get to be friends with Jarvis. That's why the hate. Uggh.

misshapes! domino records! [electroclash! "jagged yelpy post-punk!"] how i do NOT miss 2001...

"But it's these fuckers, and they get to be friends with Jarvis."

At least you admit you are jealous.

Honestly, get a life, people. TNP, dark growling bass, estuary English vocals, mashed up, dubwise beats. What's not to love?

Posted by Anonymous | June 6, 2008 8:26 PM

YES THIS IS AWESOME. Anyone who says "BARF" about a party is a BARF themselves.

santos is god. santos is god. santos is god. let the haters keep on coming... the love will win out. santos is love. santos is love. santos is love.

"TNP, dark growling bass, estuary English vocals, mashed up, dubwise beats. What's not to love?"

all of the aforementioned.

I happened to be near McCarren tonight as legions of shitheads were filing into the M.I.A. show and all I saw were pieces of shit with keyboards commenting on BV posts. Weird. Have these tight-shorts-wearing, super-huge-sunglasses-wearing nimrods ever heard of a mirror? Or a sizing chart? And yet these are the same pieces of doodie wasting valuable internship hours shitting all over the BV comments areas.

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2008 2:45 AM

i can't believe that someone actually thinks the misshapes are "real" friends with Jarvis, it's called marketing. they may be good at that, but let's be real, madonna and jarvis could give a fuck about these twats if it weren't for the NYtimes randomly jizzing on them 2 years ago

Posted by Anonymous | June 7, 2008 3:04 AM

You're obviously jealous of the Misshapes for being successful at what they do. Otherwise, why would you take the time to come here and hate on them? Go do whatever it is you do and be successful and then you won't care when other people are successful too, you'll just be happy for them.

Can we get back to music peeps. How were These New Puritans Saturday night? Worth shelling out non-guestlisted cash to see them tonight at MHOW?

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2008 7:04 AM

TNP were good. Apache Beat fucking killed it. Santos is fucking great as a venue.

Door policy was lame, but it was super fun inside... sadly that is such a rarity in NYC these days. It was kinda like a time warp.
