more artists added to All Points West festival

Jam

Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, Trey Anastasio and Classic TAB (featuring Russ Lawton, Tony Markellis and Ray Paczkowski), Robyn, Matt Costa, The Duke Spirit and Ben Jelen have just been added to the line-up for the first-ever ALL POINTS WEST MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL.
Too bad they didn't get classic TAD.

You can take a boat.

wow. they actually made it worse.

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 5:57 PM

weak.

Duke Spirit is decent, though.

Posted by butternuts | June 4, 2008 5:57 PM

Can we swap one of the Bonnaroo days for the 3rd day of APW? Preferably the one with Sigur Ros?

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 5:59 PM

More like All Points Jam Bands

Posted by Eric | June 4, 2008 6:09 PM

are they trying to make it less appealing? i don't get it.

Posted by jp | June 4, 2008 6:14 PM

Both were added on Sunday. That's a shame.

Posted by Friday and Saturday only | June 4, 2008 6:33 PM

I've never seen additions that would seriously want to make me go to a festival LESS, and yet APW pulls it off nicely.

Posted by zik | June 4, 2008 6:50 PM

oh WOW, that really made it more exciting.
great. just glad they didnt add it to saturday.

Posted by ashlee | June 4, 2008 6:59 PM

Where is Dave Matthews?
It has been that when the great one appears the doors to hell will finally open up beneath us. Or is it "Horde"?

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:10 PM

wow. they actually made it worse.
^^
adding ben harper is not making it worse you idiot. it's not amazing lineup get over it I did...

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:12 PM

Everyone is so uptight. This about being mellow, kicking back and playing hacky sack to the sweet sounds of noodling guitars.
You all need to smoke more weed!!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:17 PM

This festival has no identity. One and done for this one.

Posted by CN | June 4, 2008 7:19 PM

why add Robyn to the sunday weed party? baffling.

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:26 PM

...your still going

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:27 PM

The TAD reference is awesome. Anyone ever try to catch him stage diving? I was at a show with about 50 people and no one even tried to catch him and he dove anyways.. classic.

It is time for all music to come together. If you love music, you love everything. Reggaeton, Hippy Jam, Karaoke, Commercial Country, American Idol, Product Jingles, Cell Rings, landslides and jack hammers, Its all music. Open your hearts. No more labels and genres. APW has a dream that one day the hemp necklace wearing dread lock trust fund kid, cool hipster, cynical music snob and ipod shuffle cubicle day trippers will all come together and love each other as God intended. Really, what is the difference between Phish and No Age? Should Phish be chastised for playing a few Thousands more chords, notes and endless jams that go nowhere? They are the same inside and have a true love of great art. Ben Harper has been called the new Hendrix. Granted, only by the French and some guy in Antarctica.
Let us come together.

Its actually a smart move. BV commenters dont care (and I'm not saying they should), but Trey hasn't played a "New York" show in a while and hasn't played with that old trio period in close to a decade. This is actually a coup in a way.

He and Harper will bring in some jam fans into the two non-Radiohead days, which was a mixed bag of artists anyways.

Annon 719 is right about the identity crisis, but this will definitely sell them some more tickets. Whether they try it again next year will depend on if they pull this whole thing off.

I dunno. God bless em for trying. I'm more excited for Sunday now, braah.

Posted by A Roach | June 4, 2008 7:49 PM

Mister Roach is right.
It is pretty weird about Trey. I heard he was in Vermont making cheese somewhere and now this. It really is a coup! He should be called Che Anastsio.
I'm totally there, this should be historical!

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 7:59 PM

I like phish. I like cheese.
Me go.

Posted by Koko the gorilla | June 4, 2008 8:03 PM

Still only going Friday and Saturday.

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 8:32 PM

yeah its kind of surprising they relegated Trey to the second stage, possibly at the same time as ben harper. then again the way it's set up on the website, they've managed to create schedule conflicts which should be able to be avoided given the lack of depth of this lineup. hopefully this isn't an issue.

Definitely going to see my brah TRAY melt some faces hellz yeah brahzz!!!11!

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 8:43 PM

> let's burn one down together.

Burn down one stage? Ok. So many choices though...

Posted by oldpantsnewjersey | June 4, 2008 10:15 PM

it would be so awesome if they added The Disco Biscuits.

Posted by bisco shitcups | June 4, 2008 10:23 PM

And the Zen Tricksters.

I remain glad that i'm paying for those Terminal 5 shows now! [no sarcasm]

Posted by Anonymous | June 4, 2008 11:50 PM

this fest is terri bull!

Apw pwned!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 2:13 AM

i used to think you guys across the pond had better festivals....but i had forgotten that we dont have jam bands here in the Uk....

How a festival can have the new pornographers radiohead and andrew bird and still be woefully bad beggars belief....

You should get yourself over to the UK for End of the Road festival instead...

Conor Oberst, Bon Iver, Bowerbirds, Dirty Three, Calexico, The Acorn, Jeff lewis, Kimya Dawson, Mercury Rev,American music club, Richard Hawley, Noah and the Whale, SSLYBY....

thats how you do a festival all points west

Posted by ro Cemm-Evans | June 5, 2008 5:25 AM

I love it when you talk Trey to me, BV.

Posted by ryan freshbread | June 5, 2008 8:40 AM

Trey Anastasio should be worth at least 200 extra tickets sold.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 8:45 AM

ha this festival is officiallt=y - one and done.

what a joke

No identity, just grab whoever can sell you some tickets - pathetic.

I'm going to Lolla, where my days are segmented by music styles.

oh and... APW PWNED!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:10 AM

i think you meant ARE NOT segmented.

yeah APW is pretty bad now, and it wasn't great before.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:12 AM

I'm now only going Saturday - I was hoping Sunday's adds would've been decent, not a complete disaster!

The funny thing about APW is that you will have a completely new audience from Sat to Sun. i thought festivals weren't like that, we were wrong.

APW, weird... and sad, mostly sad.

Posted by Brokenlyn | June 5, 2008 11:14 AM

Trey is the best guitarist playing that event. 3-day pass'd....

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:22 AM

he sucks

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:40 AM

phew! Thank you, holy spirit of Joey Ramone, I didn't buy tickets to Sunday's Hippie Drum Circle Jerk!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:44 AM

FUCKING TAD!

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 11:59 AM

humiliation APW. for real.

Posted by grace6697 | June 5, 2008 12:36 PM

"Trey is the best guitarist playing that event."

And the worst songwriter.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 2:58 PM

Trey Anastasio can't touch Greenwood.

Posted by Anonymous | June 5, 2008 3:06 PM

Rusted Root were just added!

haha. just kidding. But some band Lowry have been added to Friday and Juana Molina have vanished.

Posted by Anonymous | July 7, 2008 5:12 PM

"Trey Anastasio can't touch Greenwood"
