geez what a set list

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 11:39 AM

Posted by anon | June 21, 2008 11:49 AM

Which song were they playing when Jim had the towel on his head?

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 11:56 AM

....I am pretty sure they were playing Dondante when Jim had the towel on his head.....I think he did that because the person doing the lights thought he was the only person on stage.....but that show was fucking incredible though, everyone should have gone......

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 12:00 PM

Yesterday was one great big gigantic fuckin' holiday.

Posted by Tito | June 21, 2008 12:08 PM

What a show. Wow.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 12:12 PM

it was tits in your mouth --- suckin um

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 12:13 PM

it was god awful good, you know? that type of good.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 12:32 PM

so so so so so so so good. it takes a certain kind of band to make even a big venue like Radio City feel like a tiny rock club. i loved the energy of the crowd afterwards when everyone was in the lobby screaming and just going nuts from being so amped on seeing an awesome show.

Posted by jason | June 21, 2008 12:34 PM

Anyone have more pics?

Posted by Birdo | June 21, 2008 12:52 PM

lots of people shot the show last night. expect stuff to surface on monday.

Posted by jason | June 21, 2008 12:54 PM

Saw Kirsten Dunst and Drea De Matteo at the show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 1:00 PM

"Drea De Matteo"

Who?!?

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 1:44 PM

you posted my raconteurs terminal 5 comment for all to see. you should be respecting my opinion of the lights and the show in genral.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 1:53 PM

I have seen MMJ over 25 times and imo last night was not their best show. IMO it lacked the wow factor they are so capable of bringing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 1:55 PM

....after the show was nuts, I have never seen so many people so into it after the show was over...

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 2:17 PM

i wasnt able to get one of the show posters before they sold out. does anyone have an extra theyre willing to sell!?? ill pay top dollar! thanks

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 2:22 PM

"....after the show was nuts, I have never seen so many people so into it after the show was over..."

agreed. the fans' reaction last night was very reminiscent of a phish show

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 2:36 PM

The entire audience was on their feet the whole 3 hours. Great great show from one of the best live bands out there. The new material was really well received. How many shows have you been to where the audience was so into the brand new material...its only been out and hundreds were singing along already. More more more more more....

Posted by Juan | June 21, 2008 3:13 PM

I got my poster! Someone offered me $150 for it before the show even started... pretty crazy. But I ain't selling.

I thought it was a very good, though not legendary show as I had hoped. I had thought they'd play a couple of covers but alas, not tonight. It was also a total bummer that when playing "One Big Holiday" they whipped the crowd into a frenzy, and then ended the show. I know they couldn't do a marathon show like Bonnaroo but it was just a bummer it had to end just then!

Posted by DC | June 21, 2008 3:32 PM

astonishing show ... haven't seen a crowd that nuts in memory .. best show in rock, they'll be talking about this tour for a long time ..

Posted by eli | June 21, 2008 4:20 PM

The show was merely okay as the middle set seemed dragged on, lulling the crowd to sleep.

Posted by Ass Monkey | June 21, 2008 4:32 PM

it's impossible to keep up that sort of frenzied energy for 2 1/2 hours .. there are bound to be lulls, especially when they brought it down for slower-building songs .. it likely has more to do with the crowd needing a break. hard to ask for more in a rock show ..

tons of frat boys hugging each other, as i expected, but the energy in the air was generally pretty sweet and friendly, at least in the mezzanine.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 4:43 PM

My friends and I played find the black MMJ fan but nobody won.

Posted by Boner Jam 2008 | June 21, 2008 5:42 PM

my friends and I played find the joint... we all

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 5:49 PM

My friends and I played spike the most drinks, I won.

Posted by roofiemaster69 | June 21, 2008 6:05 PM

Great show. Great night.
One of the best live bands around.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 8:56 PM

what a great fucking show this was

epic win.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 11:59 PM

The show was ok, thats it. i agree, they had the crowd going, then would play a slow song. This is Radio City. When you have that crowd rocking, you cant follow with a slow tune. We know Jimmy James has a good voice, no need for ballads in the second set.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 12:02 AM

yeah, that Dondante. dumb ballad. they should never play it again.

you're an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 1:13 AM

i wish it hadn't sold out instantly.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 10:26 AM

I usually have turrible concert luck, but not only did I score tickets immediately, I was witness to probably the best show I've seen since Wilco/Flaming Lips at the Garden in 04. While on the train home I felt some serious guilt about briefly considering "Craig's Listing" my tickets after the 1st listen to "Evil Urges". These guys are so great live! I even enjoyed "Highly Suspicious"; a song that made me cringe on the album.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 12:37 PM

I need a poster as well if someone wants to sell.

Posted by Birdo | June 22, 2008 12:46 PM

One of the best shows I've seen...ever. These guys are fuckin' amazing in concert, one of the best bands around.

Posted by Tremagnum PI | June 22, 2008 1:56 PM

Have seen these guys quite a few times and felt like this was my least favorite performance. It sounds cliche to say, but with the exception of a couple songs, I do not like the new material. I also feel like the setlist did not work very well. I'm sure they will fix that, after all when you take new songs on the road you never know... it takes a little while to finesse a setlist into cohesion. The end of the concert really delivered the goods but the first half didn't have much going for it with the exception of a couple songs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 2:20 PM

where were you guys when they played northsix with swearing at motorists on the at dawn tour? or at mercury lounge?

fucking noobs.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 2:32 PM

I feel asleep during the middle of the show.

Posted by Donkey Boner | June 22, 2008 2:51 PM

Note to self: Stop reading comments on this site.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 4:36 PM

i hope all the douchebags that hated on this show and/or fell asleep don't even try to get tickets for the next one. let all the people that actually want to see them get a chance too.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 4:40 PM

If you want to go to the concert, just get better ticketmaster skills.

Posted by Son of Donkey Boner | June 22, 2008 5:07 PM

note to self: kill self

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 5:54 PM

anyone who can't get tickets to their MSG show is an idiot. i have doubts the show will even sell out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 9:07 PM

My Morning Jacket has NO CHANCE of selling out MSG.

That is all.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 9:23 PM

the msg show will easily sell out when they add pearl jam as the opener. or fleet foxes.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 9:31 PM

Remember - Muse sold out MSG

Posted by Eric | June 22, 2008 9:40 PM

Why would Pearl Jam open for MMJ when they already sold out MSG twice this week as a headliner?

Posted by Butt Pipe | June 22, 2008 9:49 PM

Muse did not sell out MSG. I was at that show.

And Muse is a much, much bigger band than MMJ internationally, which was why the garden was full of Europeans that night.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 9:51 PM

mmj is a much, much bigger band the muse celebratorially, which why the garden will be filled with a bunch of Partying people that night.

it will sell out.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 10:00 PM

and actually, muse did sell out the garden, it sold out in 20 minutes. i tried getting more tickets about 20 minutes after i got my first pair, and it said they were no longer available. and yes i just did best available for everything.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 10:02 PM

anybody who's ever bought tickets for MSG knows you can almost always score tickets the day of the show via Ticketmaster

they release more tickets day-of

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 10:36 PM

lol @ Muse selling the Garden out in 20 minutes. You apparently live in a much different planet than the rest of us because no, they did not sell out MSG.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 10:38 PM

i'm sure MMJ at MSG will be fun on new years, but i can't help but think that if they played a smaller place but just charged a lot of money and included an open bar that it would be way more awesome. like a 4 hour set at bowery ballroom for $150 and an open bar.

Posted by jason | June 22, 2008 10:51 PM

MMJ is new pearl jam. lulz.

Posted by Anonymous | June 22, 2008 11:32 PM

looked like there were an overwhelming majority of people who like to words like "bro" quite liberally in the house that evening

Posted by god below | June 23, 2008 4:53 AM

were you there?

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 8:05 AM

Guys Im reading these comments, can you please act like you've seen a concert before?

Ive seen MMJ 7 or 8 times before and this is no big deal, really.

And they will not sell out MSG, no worries/

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 8:51 AM

"Ive seen MMJ 7 or 8 times before and this is no big deal, really."

So this post is entirely about you, eh? What makes you think anyone cares about how many times you've seen mmj? Why is this relevant?

Posted by eli | June 23, 2008 9:32 AM

its relevant, because the more times youve seen them, the lesser they seem. Last time I saw them was at Lolla last year, and at that time I thought it was time to pack it in.

Jim James is wasting his talent with this band.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 9:45 AM

acoustics were great. overall not as exciting as being on the floor right in front of the stage at a smaller place.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 10:37 AM

"Jim James is wasting his talent with this band"

perhaps it's time for you to pack it in. not sure what planet you're currently living on, but if there's a rougher, tougher, more versatile rock n' roll band around, please let me know. there may be some as good (i.e. wilco), but i know of none better .. and none can raise a roof like this band. master blasters, on all fronts.

what specific problems do you have with this band? what is it they can improve upon?

Posted by eli | June 23, 2008 12:40 PM

I dont think Jim James is wasting his talent with the rest of the band. It's just the Jim is growing bigger than the band itself. Instead of "My Morning Jacket", it's become more like "Jim James and his My Morning Jacket"

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 12:47 PM

Found a face value ticket 5 min to 8. No show ever completely sells out...

Posted by UR Mom | June 23, 2008 2:27 PM

Jim James wasting his talent with this band? Are You kidding me? Bonnaroo 2008 for life.....

Posted by Steve | June 23, 2008 4:23 PM

I was unimpressed with this show. I used to love seeing them at clubs and this just felt too big for me. Plus the new stuff was pretty bad. The end was great but other than that, not worth it.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 5:12 PM

thank you all for agreeing this was such a fantastic show. this was incredible. the encore list alone IS INSANE!! they just kept slapping us in the face with awesome awesome shit. Any naysayers in this list need to shut it and appreciate awesome live music when you get lucky enough to be living with it. Great job screaming with me afterwards, everyone who was screaming in the lobby. I was freaking the fuck out.

Posted by not a bad seat in da house | June 23, 2008 5:31 PM

holy shit, it shouldn't be this hard. trust your ears... and listen:

Anon 7:07, I fuckin' love you! Hearing everyone sing along on One Big Holiday is amazing.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 7:39 PM

Ummm, don't you people know that admitting that you actually enjoyed something is totally uncool?
Okay, come on now. Seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 7:53 PM

Took my girlfriend, she is not much of a MMJ fan, but she was crying during some songs and dancing like a maniac during others. And later on she was super horny.
Thanks My Morning Jacket.

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 8:02 PM

Hehe Did you pass out on the bedroom floor after going at it full tilt??

My only (slight) complaint is about not getting "Easy Morning Rebel". I don't think I'll ever get to see them do that. Who knows, maybe they'll play it NYE. Other than that, it was a awesome show. MMJ owns!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 8:24 PM

wow, 7:07, thanks so much ... 'one big holiday' sends chills ... and i love that intro tune .. anyone know what song was playing just before they took the stage?

Posted by eli | June 23, 2008 9:12 PM

hey, twice in one day I get to make people happy with sharing music.

the intro music was: "Bird's Lament" by Moondog

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 9:54 PM

7:07, were you at the rcmh show?

Posted by eli | June 23, 2008 10:02 PM

yes!

Posted by Anonymous | June 23, 2008 10:07 PM

MMJ will sell out MSG on NYE, coldplay did it you fools.

Now for the rest of you on this site who thinks MMJ has sold out or the new musics is not good, you have some offs to fuck, so fuck off. Stupid people, go back to the valley.

Posted by Mike | June 24, 2008 10:21 AM

have fun at your three-quarter full, 400s empty, MMJ NYE show, Im gonna be rocking hopefully to a Dan Deacon / Crystal Castles show in Market Hotel (yes!).

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2008 10:26 AM

Anon 7:07 for life! Thanks for the hook up on that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2008 7:53 PM

"Now for the rest of you on this site who thinks MMJ has sold out or the new musics is not good, you have some offs to fuck, so fuck off. Stupid people, go back to the valley."

Wow, nice argument. You must have been a jem in the debate club. Take care then. Have fun in the valley. The show must have blown your mind because you are an idiot.

Posted by Anonymous | June 24, 2008 8:16 PM

I thought the show was great. I love good live music and that's what MMJ does; make great live music. I've seen them a few times, (Albany opening for PJ, a smaller venue in NYC, etc.) Show was great. I have trouble understanding why anyone would go see a show they weren't going to appreciate. (I can understand if the acoustics/vocals were bad, but song selection....come on.) I just wanted them to play more songs.
Just saw the 2 PJ shows at MSG..dominant as usual. MMJ is MMJ and PJ is PJ, they are distinctly different and both kick ass.

Posted by Anonymous | June 27, 2008 2:26 PM

i don't really see what was not totally sick about this show. My complaint is the fact that there were seats, so noone could really really get down without crashing into some shit. I also agree that its a little more fun to see them tear the roof off of a smaller venue, however, this is what bands that are ridiculously awesome do, they grow in fanbase, and if anyone deserves that, it is My Morning Jacket. I thought they played all their new material really well all night, and seeing them play it definitely made me like it all a lot more (touch me im going to scream part 2 may have been my favorite new song). The energy definitely peaked during One Big Holiay, but I feel as though if you see MMJ at a venue set up really well to dance, and for the crowd to lose it, then the show can be at that energy level the whole time. The crowd at this show seemed to enjoy the show but wasn't losing it like I have seen an MMJ crowd do before

Posted by Anonymous | June 29, 2008 2:09 PM

i was front row at Radio City. i was told to "settle down" and to put my shoes back on. MMJ make me self injurious they're *THAT* good.

Bonnaroo 2008 though...jeez.

Posted by grace6697 | July 1, 2008 1:22 PM

any pics of thje poster? i didnt even get to see it

Posted by Alex | July 8, 2008 10:18 PM

I only popped a rhino boner (2 1/2 feet) instead of a whale boner (8 feet) at the show if people want to measure the performance in those units.

Posted by How to rate a show people | July 8, 2008 10:38 PM

I'm in that picture about 5 people away from Jim. as usual, they were epic.

it was no 2008 bonnaroo "Thunderdome", but epic nonetheless.
