My Morning Jacket played Conan (videos), Radio City tonight
Jim James @ Beacon Theatre (more)

My Morning Jacket will play to a full house at Radio City Music Hall in NYC tonight (June 20, 2008). Be prepared for what could be a three hour set. MMJ's next NYC show after this one will be (where R.E.M. played last night) at MSG.
You've seen them on SNL where they just played music. Last night on Conan they were also worked into a bit....
Big fan from Conan audience meets My Morning Jacket
And in case you were wondering, that fan is Scott Register of Reg's Coffee House.

LOL!
Reg is a friend of mine. He already knows the band and was surpirsed that Conan took him back there. The band played it off pretty well.

Anyone know if there's an opening act at Radio City tonight?
Thanks

I think one of those background broads is St.Vincent!

I've seen MMJ 6 times, and tonight was the best Amazing. Nearly three hours without a break, a the top of their form the entire time, crowd was great (eveybody singing lyrics to the new songs and the album was just released a week ago). Jim James is God. So so so so so so good tonight -- hard to put into words

MMJ was sounded good. Jim James did climb the rafters of Radio City and rip with a V shaped guitar. The crowd was something out of a Dave Matthews or a Coldplay show, I imagine. The lights were bad, you couldn't see the band. You were staring at a dark stage cause the lights were focused on the crowd. But then again, I have experienced Coroda on lights at Radio City, so Im jaded.

^^^ agreed... really really great show. it'll be hard to top.

Another great MMJ show - a bit closer to 2 1/2 hours with a short break between sets - and no encore. Some of the new songs are clunkers, but others surprise in a live setting - like "Highly Suspicious", which had the white folks grooving to the funky beat. Great lights, great sound, enthusiastic crowd and that patented MMJ energy made for a memorable evening. I have no doubt they will tear the roof off of MSG on New Years Eve.

Ater last night, new years eve at the Garden...it's a no-brainer. Who's with me?

Disappointing with the Mezz 1 crowd. I felt like I was at a fucking Dave Matthews Band show on the lawn. People were more into the beer and high fiving each other than the show. I for one will not be at MSG although I'm sure they'll play some good older stuff and fun covers there I won't be there.

I kind of felt that starting with Bermuda Highway, that was their "encore." Similar to Pearl Jam's extended "sets" at the end of a show.
