its good but the ADD Night Ripper stuff is better its more impressive, original, and a more fun listen. one of the best mixes i thought was no diggity over kanye flashing lights and hearing Velvet underground is never a bad thing either

So far so good...love the no diggity/flashing lights section.

jay-z and radiohead. the band.. okay okay

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 12:02 PM

"Hands in the Air" is rad. Big Country + Tag Team ok, Hot Chip = Cardigans = Stardust ok, Velvets + Sly Stone + "Free Ride" = INSANE.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 1:58 PM

"i dont think you can be duped if you paid 0.00 for it." -- sure you can. if you think you're listening to something other than utter cowflop.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 2:17 PM

definitely not as good as night ripper

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 2:21 PM

if you don't enjoy this, you clearly hate life.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 2:23 PM

2:23 -- I look at things differently. If you don't enjoy this, you clearly love life enough not to pollute your ears with pablum.

the end of the album picks up... but it's still not as good as night ripper. i think it's better than his first album, though.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 2:39 PM

it sounds to me that you're hatin' on Girl Talk 'cause he stacks paper to the ceiling and rides on 24" chrome

Posted by Zatzbatz | June 19, 2008 2:45 PM

The last like ten minutes is crazy good.

Of course it's better than his first album (Secret Diary). His first album is SHIT! It's unlistenable! It just sounds like someone scrolling through radio stations on the FM dial.

Garbage.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 8:47 PM

He manages to make M.I.A. sound like something out of a Bollywood film

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 8:58 PM

Oh shit, I was about to download this but trusty critic Anonymous 8:47 has offered his always eloquent opinions. Whew, checking it out would've been a huge waste of time AND money - thanks, Anonymous 8:47!

ALBUM OF THE YEAR, I THOUGHT NOTHING WOULD TOP NIGHTRIPPER, THIS IS INSANE!!! BEGINNING TO END!

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 9:50 PM

seriously CRAZY! dude is in a league of his own!

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 9:52 PM

never confused desperation with a spiritual awakening.

Posted by Bryan David Vigorson | June 19, 2008 9:57 PM

this is SO refreshing. actual fun and challenging music! i'm so tired of all this bloghouse and justice bullshit! fuck all of that noise! best album

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 10:05 PM

Seriously, it's not that good.

Posted by Anonymous | June 19, 2008 10:18 PM

most innovative sample-based album ever. if you don't like this, you should seriously check your pulse. i thought it'd be impossible to top night ripper too, and greg took it to the next motherfuckin level!!!

Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2008 2:46 AM

"challenging music?"

Are you fucking nuts?

Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2008 2:53 AM

"challenging music?"

"Are you fucking nuts?"

even though the focus is recontextualizing extremely familiar pop elements, it is a linear album with a very nontraditional structure. so i think it's challenging in that regard.

it's also challenging because it plays with ideas of originality, indentity, and what an "album" is supposed to be. you can't really say that for many artists.

it's easy to evaluate this album and girl talk on a surface level, but there's definitely more going on here. it's fantastic how much dialog his releases always create
