Waterfalls

You probably heard that starting today NYC will have four waterfalls to look at
(through October 13th).

The waterfalls were designed by Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. I probably read that the first time I heard about the waterfalls, but it wasn't until re-reading that fact today that I recognized his name as the guy who currently has 'thirty-eight works installed at both MoMA and P.S.1' ("Take Your Time") and whose exhibition party Sigur Ros recently played.

BONUS: you can see all four waterfalls while seeing a concert on any of this summer's Rocks Off Cruises (that start/run before 10pm which is when the waterfalls turn off) .

Don't go chasing waterfalls... please stick to the rivers and the lakes that you're used to.

^Wait, so I shouldn't try to seek these out?

I'm getting mixed messages.

The Waterfalls are gonna play 30... no 60... no 100 minutes. I've got extras. $300 a piece. Folks who logged in exactly at noon, you may commence whining.

These waterfalls SUCK. I don't care that they're free.

The official waterfalls site states that the waterfalls stop operating at 10pm. Considering the boat party that you mentioned begins at midnight, people attending it thinking theyre going to get a nighttime view of the falls are going be sorely disappointed.

On the same note, the Rocksoff site (http://rocksoff.com/nycwaterfalls.html) really hypes up how you can see the falls from their cruises, without mentioning which of them you can actually see them on. Additionally, trying to use their "low-fi" site puts you in a maddening loop directing you to keep choosing bandwidth types.

If their cruises are managed as well as their website is, I'm definitely not going anywhere near them.

Incompetence sucks.

rocksoff cruise, if its anything like it was last year, you will be able to see the falls, if you have a good pair of binoculars or x ray vision or something...

Thanks for the NYT post. I love the audio clip...

I think the quote "The show was such a smash that fans immediately began speculating that the museum show would be a letdown. (Musically speaking at least, they were right; the comparison was made easy by a nearly identical set list.)" has to do with BV.
