Stop! you're driving down the value of my MoMa tickets! Sigur Ros won't play new york for 5 years after MoMa!

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:26 PM

hahaha...sucka. sigur ros is now coming back in two months after your moma show to give the rest of us something to get excited about and to give you less $ for your scalping ways.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:33 PM

the current Sigur Ros MoMadex:

$48 per ticket

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:39 PM

I'm assuming The Bowery Presents is doing this show.

Why do shows up there? Does it give you some sort of "cred" to use non-traditional venues? Do you think most people who enjoy Sigur Ros live up in Washington Heights or do you think its convenient for people who don't live in the city to get there (Penn Station and Grand Central are far away brosephs).

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:47 PM

Is there anything you douches won't complain about? Would you be happier if it was at Terminal 5? You would complain about that too...
SHUT UP ALREADY!

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:48 PM

WOOOOO!
Crying girl from MoMA thread here. I'm so happy :)
I love you all.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:49 PM

I think this venue is the best choice. Anyone who disagrees with me is just plain silly

Posted by Chris | June 11, 2008 5:50 PM

I agree with you. Look at it.
Perfectly suits Sigur Ros

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:58 PM

the only thing that sucks about united palace is the blatant inability to smoke a fat joint

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:59 PM

I cannot agree more with Anon 5:48PM. It's a great choice of a venue and I don't live anywhere close.

REMEMBER THE BEAUTY OF THE BAUD? REMEMBER THE MENTOR? REMEMBER THE HILARITY OF KNOWING, THE SMALL BOXES AND ROOMS AND NAMES AND PEAKS OF DARIEN? GOLDEN, LOST AND FROZEN. A ROOM OF BEATING HEARTS. TOGETHER. YOU'LL GO AROUND THIS TIME AROUND.
TRINITRONITY.
TRINITRONITY.
TRINITRONITY!

well that and $7 for a dixie cup of beer, seriously 3 $7 beers amounts to just over a pint. oh and it is Checkerd Cab beer only.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:04 PM

Copied from the Moma thread from earlier
"NEWSFLASH!!!!!!

Ok so before all you fools sell off your first born for tickets to the MOMA show, it was posted on their message board today by someone involved with the band that this show WILL NOT be a full set from the band. It will be a short 5 or 6 song performance during the evening. Much like the Cat Power show there and much like their Heima screening performances last year.

So relax and chill out. If you got tickets to the Grand Ballroom that is the show you want to be at. Unless of course you really are griping cause you are missing out on free wine and cheese. But if you are then you have bigger problems than just not getting a ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 12:46 PM"

Looks like the Grand Ballroom is the best show of the 4 in terms of intimacy and performance length. Although it wont have free wine and cheese. I think i can live without that.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:10 PM

all poprally moma sets are around 20-30 min
(remember cat power?)
paying more than $20 for it is a nice waste

Posted by danidin | June 11, 2008 6:35 PM

For the record, I actually would be happier if the show was at T5. Smaller venue and general admission.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:40 PM

duh of course the MOMA is a short set knew it when I got the ticket.
MOre looking forward to the grand ballroom which will be much better than united palace although I'll try for tickets cause up front there is nice and well I live in the bronx :)

Agree with the beer comment Checkerd Cab suxs.

Any chance of them playing ATP fest? They're in town in the exact weekend, and adding them to the saturday bill does make sense.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:42 PM

Any other dates outside of NYC?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:50 PM

i think they're playing some dude's loft in williamsburg if chips and salsa are provided. just sayin'.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 6:56 PM

Worst dates to pick Sigur Ros!!!!!

Sep 17th
1) Sigur Ros at United Palace
2) The Mars Volta at Hammerstein
3) The Swell Season at Central Park Summerstage
4) Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at MSG

Sep 18th
1) Sigur Ros at United Palace
2) The Mars Volta at Hammerstein
3) Mogwai at Terminal 5
4) Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band at MSG

Ahhhhhhhhhh!

P.S. What do you guys think of new Radiohead song "Super Collider".......

<3 Radiohead

Posted by Jonny Greenwood is the man | June 11, 2008 7:26 PM

Why can't they play MSG again? This time Billy Joel will not be playing upstairs. Even the Beacon would be better than United Palace.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 7:33 PM

Sigur Ros at ATP?!?!?!?!?

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 7:50 PM

what an awesome birthday week for ME!

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 7:57 PM

Sure, the Irving Plaza show wasn't the place to see Sigur Ros, but at least it ain't in a ghetto.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 8:02 PM

yeah, at least there's shit flowing from your mouth.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 8:15 PM

tough decision...
Already seeing Mars Volta on 17th, now either again on 18th, or Sigur Ros....advice anyone?

Posted by Pedro | June 11, 2008 8:25 PM

tough one pedro, considering the mars volta can either rule really hard or suck really hard live, but i would have to say mars volta. im also going the 17th. for me, its just because A: its cheaper. and B: i just dont like seating venues unless there is a GA place E.I. MSG. but the only MSG concert i have been to was justice because i was extremely lucky and guessed the presale code.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 8:34 PM

Sigur Ros should play a huge venue if they're that big. They did pick the worst two dates to play. Thursday is a popular day for night class for college kids like myself, in addition to the other awesome shows going on. Tough.

Posted by Star Child | June 11, 2008 8:57 PM

wow people will complain about everything. who gives a rat's ass about night classes and mars volta. obviously not sigur ros so ha to you all.

it's not like you'll be able to get tickets this time anyway since it seems most of you morons who keep bitching don't know how to use the internet.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 10:33 PM

efrim from silver mt zion/godspeed ripping sigur ros:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=vJtDrTQKnro

really hilarious shit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 11:41 PM

wait, so you're mad at sigur ros for scheduling the shows on a day of the week??

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 11:48 PM

I once made the mistake of missing out on a (invite only) show in order to attend a night class. Do not make the same mistake. I am regretting it over ten years later.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 11:59 PM

irving may not have been the best place to see sigur ros, but they did bring out Steindór. and sell those irreplaceable steindór andersen ep's along with the winter hats. either way, i think the union palace shows will be way better sounding than all their previous beacon shows.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 1:42 AM

NYC gets four Sigur Ros shows this year, and LA gets one. And it's the same day as My Bloody Valentine. Bullshit.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 2:04 AM

I'm assuming The Bowery Presents is doing this show.

Why do shows up there? Does it give you some sort of "cred" to use non-traditional venues? Do you think most people who enjoy Sigur Ros live up in Washington Heights or do you think its convenient for people who don't live in the city to get there (Penn Station and Grand Central are far away brosephs).

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 5:47 PM

Fuck you, you whining sack of hipster, L Train riding, Bridge and Tunnel dwelling scum. Do you think Yankee Stadium is conveniently located for all?

You fucking idiot. Go back to Wisconsin, or wherever the fuck you're from.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 2:17 AM

attn Jonny Greenwood - those dates you posted for Springsteen at MSG in September are incorrect.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 2:23 AM

well, Id rather be at the Moma show because 20-30 minute shows are sometimes the best shows you will ever see. plus yeah not only wine and cheese but this looks like vodka drinks will be served. plus show should be more intimate (im assuming they will set up in the lobby and you can stand right next to them). Im so sad I didnt get tickets, if anyone has a spare let me know.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 9:03 AM

Yes, there are people in washington heights who like Sigur Ros, I'm one of them.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 10:38 AM

Shit, I now have to lower my asking price from $700 to $600 for the moma tix. No free wine and cheese at Union Palace!!!

Posted by Blah | June 12, 2008 11:02 AM

screw you pal, those of us that do live in Inwood and Washington Heights deserve good shows in our neighborhood.

as for the "ghetto" comment... im sure the people that live here are praying every night for gentrification and white hipsters to come and raise thier rents and force them out.

seriously, you don't like the venue? don't go.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 11:05 AM

UPT is 1 BLOCK(!)from the 175th street A train stop.

to quote a tough old lady:

"There are two kinds of people, the complainers and the noncomplainers."

who do you want to be?

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 11:09 AM

"Inwood and Washington Heights deserve good shows in our neighborhood."

ask anyone who went to the Arcade Fire show.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 11:16 AM

is there an opener for the grand ballroom show? anyone know when sigur ros might actually take the stage?

Posted by I-Train | June 12, 2008 12:15 PM

9:03 - have you even BEEN to a sigur ros show before? 20 minutes barely scratches the surface. i saw them twice this past fall (at very intimate performances) and it was nothing compared to a full set. so you shouldn't feel bad about not going to MOMA at all. i know i don't.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 12:16 PM

don't forget your pajamas and your pillow...you're going to want to fall right to sleep after about two minutes of the most boring music you have ever heard.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 1:00 PM

Sure, the Irving Plaza show wasn't the place to see Sigur Ros, but at least it ain't in a ghetto.

Posted by Anonymous | June 11, 2008 8:02 PM

Wash Heights isn't a ghetto.

But your Momma's mattress is.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 1:35 PM

they took the united palace shows off ticketmaster.. only grand palace is listed now.... maybe we werent' supposed to know.

Posted by Brian | June 12, 2008 2:05 PM

What is wrong with you people? The United Palace Theatre is a GORGEOUS venue with amazing acoustics. I saw Bjork there last year and she sounded beautiful.

Stop being so damn ignorant and maybe get out of midtown once in awhile.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 3:06 PM

better yet, stay home and leave the tickets for people who aren't lame.

Posted by Anonymous | June 12, 2008 3:08 PM

What happened to the United Palace Tickets? Sold out already?

Posted by chris | June 13, 2008 12:10 PM

Just to add to the mayhem, my friend has been dealing with thie woman Eliza from Popmatters all week on their computer screwup. Incredibly she told him their computers didnt let anyone into the system before noon and that anyone who says they got in before is lying. Also she claimed that its no big deal and that no one is scalping tickets to the event because there are no hard tickets.

This chick is clueless but apparently the last thing said is they would try to maybe work something out for those that got the computer error screen.

Probably if enough people call and sound off about all this. Who knows. You can reach her at 212-333-6580

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2008 4:42 PM

Dude -- give it up. Seriously. This MoMA shit has been posted to death.

Posted by Anonymous | June 13, 2008 4:55 PM

The United Palace shows have been struck from Ticketmaster

Posted by Anonymous | June 15, 2008 9:30 PM

I wouldn't worry about Ticketmaster. I think the whole tour is getting announced this week (according to the Sigur Ros message boards it looks like tomorrow or Tuesday). United Palace shows are still on.

Posted by CN | June 15, 2008 9:49 PM

i'm trying to buy tickets on klink for sept RIGHT NOW. it's 9:17, and i don't see links activated to "Buy Tickets"... anyone having success???

Posted by AK | June 20, 2008 9:09 AM

woo hoo! got 2 tickets to both nights at united palace... by the way the grand ballroom show was the best performance of theirs i have ever seen

Posted by bobbby | June 20, 2008 9:33 AM

Does anyone want to sell me a Sigur Ros ticket for a reasonable price? I am from Virginia, and I am going to have to travel to NYC to see them. Please let me know if anyone has a spare to sell.

Thank you!

Marian

Have 4 tickets to Sigur on 9/17 at United Palace. I had to change the date to the following night and spent tons on the second tickets, unfortuntely. Sucks. Anyway, I have to get rid of these first tickets now. They are on ebay here, but I'll take any offers. email me at:

m_flaco [at] yahoo [dot] com

here's the ebay link:

Posted by mike | August 30, 2008 11:16 AM

aka i wanna make as much money as possible selling these, but so i don't seem like an asshole, i'm gonna lie about paying a lot for some other tickets to justify my asking price.

Posted by Anonymous | August 30, 2008 11:44 AM

i called the box office today and they said the show is going on at 8 and that there is no opening act. the website says an opening act. any suggestion on a smart time to get there? its a bit of a trek so i dont want to have a bad assumption turn into missing anything.

much thanks

Posted by thatguy | September 16, 2008 5:26 PM

get there by 730. parachutes go on at 8 sharp. features jonsi's boyfriend in the band and jonsi is doing some mixes on their new album.

Posted by Anonymous | September 16, 2008 5:32 PM

I hope you're not talking about me, anon, because I happened to in fact have paid $715 for my 4 new seats (on top of my original 6 tickets) and I can't make it tonight so I'm really just selling these to recoup.

Not everyone is a douche bag in this world.

Still selling 2 of them, dropped them to $80 a piece. Center Orch.

m_flaco [at] yahoo [dot] com

Posted by mike | September 17, 2008 11:12 AM

your story dont make sense, flaco. but whatever, next time dont be stupid paying 3 or 4 times face for a ticket.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 11:29 AM

who the fuck would pay over $700 for tickets to anything? dude, you are insane

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 11:31 AM

Thanks a lot for the sarcasm and judgement, everyone. Look, it's my spouse's favorite band...we couln't go on Wed anymore so I got 4 tix for the next night instead at an inflated rate. Then I had to sell the first batch. It's really not that complicated.

Besides, I paid $715 for 4. That's really not that bad. Still selling 2 more at $80 each (20 more than face).

Posted by mike | September 17, 2008 11:48 AM

if sigur ros was my favorite band id go see them both nights.

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 11:58 AM

We can't go tonight but again, thanks for the bullshit sarcasm.

Posted by mike | September 17, 2008 12:06 PM

$715 / 4 = $178.75

$178.75 / $62.00(face value of ticket + fees) = 188% mark-up = not that bad?

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 12:28 PM

What the hell do you care what I spent on my tickets? $178 a seat is not that bad to me, especially since it's my spouse's favorite band. They are good seats, a graet live band and they come around rarely. It's worth it to me.

You don't want to buy my other tickets, fine. But you must be awfully bored if you're wasting time behind a computer criticizing others for what they do with their own money.

Posted by mike | September 17, 2008 1:13 PM

the value of those tickets dropped faster than stock in AIG...

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 1:28 PM

additional tickets released, I just pulled down some lower loge

Posted by Anonymous | September 17, 2008 1:34 PM

OK, I have 1 extra ticket. Selling for Face Value ($60). Center Orchestra Section Row P.
