Sloan played Bowery Ballroom. They'll do it again.
Sloan @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC - June 19, 2008 (SoundBites)

"[Sloan] know all the Rock Moves by heart and know how to use them without being self-consciously showy, although bassist and defacto leader Chris Murphy is a real ham who isn't afraid to do something retarded (like lick the mic stand) in the name of a laugh or good crowd reaction." [Bill, before the show]
Sloan play Bowery Ballroom again tonight (June 20, 2008). More tour dates HERE.

time to hang it up, sloan. ugh. Years ago, two summertime nights at the Bowery for Sloan were the most fun nights around... having gone last night, it's clear those days are over.

was it that bad?
Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 12:38 PM
it wasn't THAT bad - they played well and a lot of the crowd was into it, but from my subjective experience, it just wasn't the same as shows from the past (i've seen Sloan most times they've come to the Bowery). Sloan needs a packed, energetic crowd to have a great show; last night's show was not packed, and the energy level was not high.
Or maybe i'm just personally over them.

I was at the Friday night show and I thought it rocked! I wasn't that into it when the played in Brooklyn last time around, though... I guess it all depends on if you like the new CD or not, since they played a lot of it.
Chris stood around in the audience after the show and talked to the fans. I thought that was pretty sweet.
