The Cure @ Sasquatch 2008 (more by Chris Graham)
The Cure

It's all about MSG lately. Love them or hate them, there is/was....Iron Maiden, Tom Petty, R.E.M. (last night), The Cure (TONIGHT), Coldplay (Monday), and Pearl Jam (Tuesday and Wednesday) - all right after one another. And all that coincided with the announcement that My Morning Jacket are playing that venue too which coincided with My Morning Jacket's Radio City show tonight. Radio City is also where where the Cure are playing tomorrow (note: Radio City & MSG are owned by the same company).

The big difference between Coldplay and all those other shows is that Coldplay tickets were free...to those who were able to "win" them. If you weren't able to win them, I've got one more chance for you. One person who emails BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM (subject: Coldplay) will be selected and awarded a pair of free tickets to the free show.

In other Coldplay news, Brooklyn's Creaky Boards are now really famous, and Santogold will soon be more famous, you can stream Coldplay's new album, and tickets for their NJ show go on sale Saturday.

ALSO, The Police are playing MSG.

ALSO, Coldplay rescheduled a bunch of dates, so their latest ones are below...

FUSE is going to air the CURE show at MSG tonight at 11pm if you can't make it to the show tonight.

I saw the Cure earlier in this tour (where Robert was sick and couldn't sing), and if you're a big fan of their older, darker stuff, then prepare to be disappointed. Their set will be heavy on the new and radio friendly songs (pics of you, just like heaven, boys don't cry, friday, etc.) and there really seems to be something missing w/o keyboards (especially in the post-kiss me material). The highlights of the show I saw were The Kiss & One Hundred Years. Hopefully, you'll get a 30 minute version of a Forest, which would be worth the price of admission imo.

I don't know about MSG still being hot after the the Cure concert.Coldplay-bleh.Pearl Jam-meh.

MSG is so hot that NIN,Radiohead and the Pumpkins are not playing there for their latest tour.Instead we get the 'uplifting' soft rock version of Radiohead.

Do they never play "Six Different Ways" anymore?

Posted by Anonymous | June 20, 2008 6:18 PM

no but they played an awesome "PUSH" off the same record.

Big Plus, The asian chick in Section 1 with the killer bod. Thank god it was cold in there...

I think the comment about missing keyboards is right on. It really bothered me tonight. There's definitely a harder edged sound with 3 guitars, and even some of the great old classics in my opinion , just did not sound so good. Enjoyed the news songs. and Robert singing was great tonight.

Absolutely right. Although it was interesting to hear what Just Like Heaven would sound like with just guitars, they deff needed keyboard accompainment for show. I thought the whole point of rescheduling the concert was so that they "can work on new album AND add keyboards for live show."

chris rock is fan of going to MSG for free. he's always there for random stuff.

Posted by Anonymous | June 21, 2008 1:16 PM

he was into it.

drewo,I heard the commercial for the 4th show on the radio today.

4 hot summer nights at MSG is a lot for a dude pushing 70.Though I think NYC is the only place he is playing that many.
