What's going on Friday?

St. Vincent played a private party last night....

St Vincent

In front of a cocktail-laced crowd, crammed into an art space without air ventilation or working bathrooms, St. Vincent's music punched through the constant chatter with typical intensity. Watching this band play in such an intimate setting was something special, despite the uncomfortable atmosphere. Are there any other bands out there right now that play with more skill and grace? And facing a less than polite audience, who else but Ms. Clark would so sincerely thank the venue and encourage the purchase of the "rad" artwork on the wall? [enthuiastic words sent in by Jefferson]

it almost looks like she's playing a telecaster. that's what the very edge of that pickguard looks like. can't tell though. i'm surprised as i've never see her play anything but her red one and that red gibson sg. annnie fucking rocks.

her red guitar is a harmony bobcat. http://harmony.demont.net/name/bobkat I think she has an SG as well. definitely looks like a telecaster in that picture though.

yeah, i've never seen her play one before, but given the fact she can shread with the best of them, i don't see why it's not. can - not - wait till her next one.

I wish I could've caught Chuck Berry's performance but I had to stay late at work.

I was at Chuck Berry's previous show at B.B. King's last year. He really had it still. At age 81 he even did his hopping on one foot while playing the guitar! I went see Holy Fuck and M.I.A. last night (and I agree with Anon 12:43), but would like to check out Chuck Berry again next time. Hope you get a chance too.

Anyone hear MIA say last night was the last show in support of Kala and she had canceled all other shows and the European tour?

Posted by crook from the bronx | June 7, 2008 9:26 AM

Yes, it is in fact a Telecaster. Her red one that night was a Silvertone.

Posted by Soundmixerguy | June 7, 2008 3:29 PM

Its a mexican Tele with two single coil pickups.

st. vincent recorded the majority of her album in Birmingham, Alabama. Don't let her tell you any different.
