T Bone Burnett w/ Robert & Alison, NYC - June 10, 2008 (more by Eric Townsend)
Alison Krauss, Robert Plant and T BOne Burnett

Buoyed by its success, the pair has launched a major tour that wafted through the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night.

Zeppelin fans may curse the day this tour was conceived, since it prevented - or at least delayed - a full-scale road show for Plant's storied band, something that has been rumored ever since that act floored the rock world with last year's one-off reunion gig in London.

A fully-Led'ed road show may yet happen. But in the meantime, no informed aficionado of Plant's talents - or Krauss' - would have felt betrayed by last night's tender display.
[Jim Farber - The Daily News]

I have a pair of tickets to give away for tonight's show (June 11, 2008). If you want them email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM (subject: Plant). Include your name and mention which song Led Zeppelin opened with in London. One winner will be picked and contacted before 5pm.

We're also still giving away tickets to the festival in Staten Island this weekend.

i am soooo happy plant is doing something like this and not that "full-scale road show" of zep. it's over. let the band live on with recording because as a beatles reunion would be a joke without john and george, zep would be a joke without jb. plant's got far too much to offer in other areas of music, like this, to be tied to the past like jpj and jp.

"...to be tied to the past like jpj and jp."

Sometime in the nineties, John Paul Jones recorded and toured with Diamanda Galas.

true. very true. i think he's dabbled in other things too. it just always seems like he and page have always been chomping at the bit though to do the zep thing. and undoubtedly it will pay kinda well, it's just unfortunate because it will never ever be anything like it was. and i was too young to experience that, and i'm ok with it. i can deal with video and audio recordings. just like i loooove v.u., but lou reed can suck my left nut these days.

Robert Plant is 60 years old and still a DOG! That girl is smokin', I'd sing with her anytime... and then I'd put together a Led Zeppelin re-union tour, please.

Wonderful show tonight. The highlight for me was In the Mood > Matty Groves > In the Mood. If only Alison finished Matty Groves (her voice was gorgeous on that one) or if they played that great breakdown. Battle of Evermore was great, too.
