6th Annual Musical Saw Festival in Queens Saturday

Saw Festival

25 saw players. Saturday. Queens, NYC....

See the saw players and hear the singing sounds of the saw: the 6th annual NYC Musical Saw Festival, Saturday July 5th, 2008 , at Trinity Church, 31-18 37th Street, Astoria , Queens.

The cutting edge music starts at 2:00 PM , with a concert featuring about 25 musical saw players from Mexico , Germany , Canada and all over the USA . There is also an art exhibition featuring the musical saw in paintings and a video installation.

The world's greatest saw players come out of the woodwork to join other acoustic musicians in a variety of musical performances. Youʼll hear classical, contemporary, folk, gospel, pop, and show tunes throughout the concert. The end of the concert features the 'Chorus of the Saws' - all the saw players playing together.

* Natalia "Saw Lady" Paruz, founder and organizer of the annual NYC Musical Saw Festival, will present the musical saw as an ensemble instrument with participation of a handbell choir, 2 singers, a pianist and an organist.
* Nicholas Bardach of Germany will give a presentation spoofing classical music with the saw
* Rafael Cornejo of Mexico will demonstrate non-traditional saw playing
* World premier of a new piece composed by Scott R. Munson for the saw.
* Solo performances by many musical saw players
* The Chorus of the Saws - all participating saw players will play together

Want to learn to play the musical saw? This is the place to find out all about it. Many of the best saw players from around the world come to the Saw Festival (we had sawists from India , China , Canada and Japan , as well as from around the USA ) and many are returning to the Saw Festival this year.

Hello, Musicians. I want to play a game.

So far, what you call this, your life, you've been living watching other. The society calls you an informer, a rat, a musician. I call you unworthy
of the body you posses, of the life that have been given.

Now, we will see if you are willing the
to look in world better than that, to give up
the one thing you rely on in order to go on living: unemployment.

The device arround your neck is a death mask. The mask is on a spring timer. If you do not locate the song in time, the mask will close. Think
at this like a carnivorous plant.

What are you looking right now is your own body no more than two hours ago.

Don't worry. You were put to sleep and can't feel a thing.

Taking to account that you are at a great disadvantage here, I am going to give a hint from where I've hidden the key. So listen carefully.

The hint is this: it's right behind your eye!

How much blood you would share to stay
alive, Michael. Live or die.

Yes - I went last year. There were 19 saw players, and it was amazing. When they all played together, that was an unbelievable sound - defies discription.
