Albert Hammond Jr shows today & tomorrow + album stream

Albert Hammond Jr

Albert Hammond Jr. is playing a free show at the Virgin Megastore in Union Square at 8pm today (July 8, 2008)

He's also playing a sort-of-private SPIN Magazine show in NYC tomorrow (July 9, 2008) at Hiro Ballroom . I have two pairs of tickets to giveaway to that one. To get them, email BVCONTESTS@HOTMAIL.COM (subject: hammond). Include your first and last name. Two people will be picked and contacted. For another chance of winning, you can try for one of the 200 TICKETS GBH is giving away.

Like the recent show at Mercury Lounge, all this Albert Hammond hoopla is timed to coincide with the release of his latest album "Como Te Llama" which you can currently stream in its entirety at AOL.

Albert is also playing McCarren Pool in August with Regina Spektor (not to be confused with Ronnie Spector who played McCarren Pool this past Sunday). All tour dates below....

I saw AHJ yesterday when I was walking down the street.

thanks for posting this info. i wish i could go, even though the acoustics in the virgin megastore performance pit are dung, but i'm at the shore. al is my fave. i even met his pops once down in the delta at a tiny folk/blues club in the late 80s. his sound is evolving into something sublime. if you had a contest where the prize was an all expense paid trip to see him backstage live at the summer sonic festival in tokyo i would pretty much do anything to win.

thanks, dude. we'll keep that in mind as we're in process of putting together a contest with that very same prize!

record is killer! just got back from the virgin in-store. acoustics were much better than i expected. can't wait to see albert open for regina -- but i won't be suffering through her set!

Curious, is there any sort of free alcohol at the Hiro show?

Posted by Anonymous | July 9, 2008 12:23 AM

My urine might have traces if you are interested.

i know what they say about judging a book by its cover, but i look at that picture and know i want nothing to do with this band. going from garage to ikea rock was never that big a step.

Anyone know what the deal is with the GBH RSVP? The ad says with guest but the writeup says no guests. Is with or without?

Posted by mp77 | July 9, 2008 3:42 PM

For anyone interested, while the flier said with guest I got an email from GBH saying no +1 for tonight.

Posted by mp77 | July 9, 2008 5:11 PM

show tonight was so boring. sounded like a bunch of strokes b sides & one dub song.
