TERMINAL FIVE WUZ ROBBED!!!
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:13 PM
Bowery DEFINITELY.
Webster ONLY TOLERABLE when compared to Terminal 5.
Where the hell is Mercury Lounge?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:17 PM
They put Webster in there but not Mercury Lounge?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:21 PM
music hall is superior to all bowery venues imo. sound/sightlines. don't get me wrong. bowery is a long time fav and will never disappoint, but they did some research building music hall.
joe;s pub is AMAZING. a. not a pub by any means b. david byrne live in that room was one of the most breath taking things ever
fuck webster.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:22 PM
only guidos voted. guidos love webster hall and their bad techno.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:22 PM
@3:22
you realize, of course, that music hall is actually a bowery venue, correct?
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:24 PM
I agree...Mercury lounge should be up there at three. Joe's pub is great if you are into the band that's playing. I personally love the living room because it is so small. I'd rank Webster about 13 or 14 on my list and lower if Brooklyn counts.

Yeah, Webster Hall does not belong there, but at least they did not pick T5. (Wouldn't that be funny?) At least Webster Hall is a mixed bag soundwise and it is smallish. I've seen some decent sounding shows there and some terrible ones. Bowery and Joe's Pub are right on the money.

what the devil?!
what the heck you mean they didn't put up the ultimate
market hotel!!!!!!!!! (half scincere half not)
but it does kind of seem like idiots posted and bowery and joes pub is the closes to non mainstream that the pollers would venture out to
joes pub is like a giant blue note or something anon 313

DEATH BY AUDIO'S MUTANT ROACHES WERE ROBBED!
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:28 PM
Mercury Lounge usually sounds great. There have been a few exceptions I witnessed, but I guess they were having some problems. However I hate seeing sold out shows there. Too packed and stage is too low. Definitely not one of my favorites.

I remember seeing Mogwai @ Webster Hall and the sound was excellent.
I also like Bowery Ballroom.
I also like Ice Cream. And America.

what about the hot topic presents the fillmore new york at irving plaza?????????
Posted by anonymous | July 30, 2008 3:56 PM
@Hamburger Eyes - I think the only bands that sound good at Webster Hall are ones whose sound benefits from that places boomy acoustics. Elbow and the Doves sounded good there too...imagine would be the same with Mogwai.

who the f voted for webster (employees/promoters>)? Worst sound and most disrespecting venue in New York.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 4:21 PM
i saw the breeders at webster recently and the sound sucked. saw polvo at bowery and the sound was better but not as good as i remembered it a few years ago. I've seen switches and annuals at irving plaza recently and the sound was the best by far... they just don't have as many shows worth seeing these days

the faint kicked the crap out of webster hall a couple years ago. then bright eyes went on and didn't sound good at all.

imo = in my opinion
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 6:11 PM
Bowery is great, Webster hall of course is a joke (even when The Faint played there).
Joe's pub - gimme a break. Nice small venue, but very poor situation if you are not eating dinner. If you are sitting at the bar you can't see shit cause of all the people crammed in standing right in front of you. At least at SOBs they know to put the dinner-eating losers at the back.
Mercury is the best.

imo = in mexico only

...and we give a shite what aol says because...?
in 100% all seriousness: was BV paid to do this post? level w/ us...
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 9:59 PM
dinner-eating losers? you sound like the loser, among the crowd at the bar. you don't have to eat. you can get a drink instead. great musicians playing in the nicest small venue in NYC for next to nothing and if you still complain about having to buy a drink, then stick to free shows. tons of them in the city at all times.

what about the Highline?
I think the sound there is very very good.
nice wine, too bad about the food though don't eat it!!!!
