Apples in Stereo played P4K (pics) & cancelled Brooklyn. Earlimart playing Union Hall (& Sound Fix tonight)
photos by Elizabeth Weinberg

Bad news. The Apples in Stereo have cancelled the show they were supposed to play Thursday July 31st at Brooklyn Masonic Temple (home of future TV on the Radio & Broken Social Scene shows).
Earlimart (who are playing an in-store at Sound Fix tonight) were supposed to open at Masonic Temple, but now they're going to play a late show that night at Union Hall instead (after the Spinto Band residency show). And as you can see....
The Apples In Stereo - 2008 Tour Dates

...The Apples ask that we go to the Jersey show at Blend on Friday. And then we can watch them on The Colbert Report too. A few more pics from last weeked's Pitchfork Festival (that they DID play) below...

well the lack of comments here seems like a hint why this one was cancelled

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 6:58 PM
"please come to the 8/1 show"
Are they really that clueless about the amount of time it takes to get from Brooklyn to Ridgewood, NJ?

They suck without Hilarie. Can you feel it??? not anymore...
Posted by Where's Hilarie?? | July 29, 2008 7:08 PM
They better play "Stephen Stephen" on the Colbert Report.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 7:16 PM
the show should've been all ages.

Hilarie is great!
But they are way tighter now than they ever have been. A powerhouse, power pop Apple bonanza!!

are the apples in stereo no longer popular?
they sold out the bowery when i saw them last year (a really great show, with cause co-motion and casper & the cookies opening), and then played summerstage and maxwell's within a few months.
surprises me they can't get 500 people for $10 at the masonic temple.

Have just the Apples in Stereo cancelled and the show is still going on? Or is the show completely cancelled? How annoying.
Posted by Anonymous | July 30, 2008 10:35 AM
Whole thing is cancelled. Earlimart bumped over to Union Hall at 11.
The Apples are totally still popular. Summer sucks. People choose free over pay shows all summer long....

The Temple's capacity seems well over 500. It's a lot larger than the Bowery Ballroom.
Most of the shows I've seen there have been fairly under sold. Even with low ticket prices, it seems hard to fill that place up.
It's a shame, because it is a really nice space.

i think it's a really great space too. lots of people seem to complain about the sound, but i had no problems with the i'm from barcelona show a few months ago. really liked the venue too and, as you indicated, the shows there seem to mostly be on the cheap end.

So sad. I finally got the 'this show is cancelled' email from TicketWeb & called for my refund (you have to mail back any paper tickets). But the message states that tickets for the 7/31 show will be honored at the 8/1 Ridgewood show.
I thought about heading to Jersey but the NJ transit roundtrip ticket was going to cost more than the concert ticket...
