Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - 2008 Tour Dates
DOWNLOAD: Ariel Pink - L'estat (According To The Widows) (MP3)

Ariel Pink was already an accomplished illustrator when he first gained recognition for what had always been his true passion, music. He had been writing and recording songs since age ten and by seventeen had accumulated hundreds of his own cassette recordings. It was during this time, while working in virtual isolation, that Ariel Pink began to develop a cult following in his hometown of Los Angeles and around the world. In 2004, at the behest of New York's Animal Collective, Pink received his big break and was projected into a much broader arena.Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti is playing Knitting Factory in NYC on July 30th with Mixel Pixel and Chairlift. Tickets are on sale. All dates below...Since then, Pink has been working to assemble a band of musicians to do the near impossible: to recreate the rich sonic universe of his records in a live setting. Finally, he has succeeded in this task; Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti is comprised of accomplished music scene veterans including keyboardist Kenny Gilmore (Lilys), bassist Tim Koh (White Magic, Lavender Diamond, Miho Hatori/Cibo Matto, All Night Radio, My Barbarian), drummer Jimi Hey (Beachwood Sparks, All Night Radio, Devendra Banhart, Mark Olson/The Jayhawks, Chris Robinson, Indian Jewelry, The Rapture, Strictly Ballroom), and guitarist Cole M. Greif-Neill (Ethnik Klensr, Young & Natural, The Samps).

alright so his live stuff is self-admittedly weak when he plays solo.
BUT, I have high hopes for a full band setup - has anyone seen him with a full band?

I saw Ariel and his band open up for Cass McCombs a few months ago at Bowery Ballroom. They sounded great but they played a short set, and only one song that I recognized from House Arrest. My guess is the band only played what they were comfortable with a the time. With any luck they'll be tighter and play a better set of songs.

Full band Ariel can be really sick. I saw them play in LA w/ some dude in a zoot suit. Totally amazing. But solo it can be a bummer.

i've seen ariel in london, new york and melbourne and adelaide(oz) and he's rocked, solo, with his aussie band who were super-tight and with his new players, every time he is refreshing and presents a new side to himself - wish i was seeing him this time round...

Hey I saw him in Tallahassee, they played ONE SONG and claimed they were too tired. So fucked up!

it wasn't that they were just to tired, the amps were messed up so he couldn't hear himself and the sound was awful.
