Hey BV, you forgot to mention that people who pre-order Beck's new album through iTunes get first crack at presale tix for the tour...
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 4:37 PM
You had to pre-order the album before it came out (obviously). So you are too late if you wanted to get in on the deal.

whack = verb or noun
wack = adjective

Where will he play in NYC? Terminal 5? United Palace? Donkey boner?
Posted by Huge balls but small shaft | July 14, 2008 5:03 PM
Last time he played here, he was at the MSG theater back in the fall of 2006. So it could be that or a couple of nights at the united palace theater. Maybe even Radio City.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 5:08 PM
Please please please don't say Terminal 5. I want to hear the show and not ehcoes of the show. Play Brooklyn!
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 5:14 PM
Check this out, a review of Beck's new album on some kind of retirement home for aging British music journalists. Nothing weird about that...until you realize the site is also providing advertising for Scientology. Creepy!

"where in BK would Beck play (aside from the pool)?"
There really is no Brooklyn venue suitable for Beck (at least in October).
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 11:48 PM
Just to put it in perspective, Beck did not sell out MSG theater last time around (year or 2 ago). So, just saying.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 11:54 PM
A couple of nights at the big theater at BAM would work for Brooklyn.
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 12:08 AM
Any chance of him playing All Points West?
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 12:45 AM
agreed GAMMA RAY good
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 3:57 AM
Modern Guilt is a snoozer upon first few listens.. not fired up to see him on this tour (in any venue).
Posted by tb34 | July 15, 2008 7:50 AM
Modern Guilt is great. I got it after the thrid listen.

"Password: yeah right you fucking mooches"
You have to know that someone is gonna post it now just to spite you.
Posted by Gonna get my presale info | July 15, 2008 8:33 AM
why would someone post it? first of all, it is like 20 characters and I think it is unique per pre-order. its not some common beck word like "odelay", it is a string of letters and numbers.
You ain't getting anything.
But then again it doesn't matter unless he announces a NYC date in the next two days.

Beck, please retire already? Jesus that obnoxious douche has been clouding the airwaves for way too long.

Anybody attend his 2006 show? The energy he brought to the stage was . . . total shit. Without puppets, a Beck show is about as enjoyable as listening to the album at home; except that at home you can at least pretend that he's into the music his producers are creating.
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 2:43 PM
beck himself is a fraggle. so puppets would add to this show.
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 3:23 PM
been to every beck tour over the years since lollapalooza 95.. this will probably be the first nyc show of his that i skip (assuming he announces one). his stage presence has been waning ever since the midnite vultures tour and modern guilt is such a load of crap.
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 3:46 PM
I'm pissed that there is no NYC date and the presale code ends on Thursday. What the F Beck? You tricked me into buying your album you crafty fucker!
Posted by The Revenge of Donkey Boner | July 15, 2008 3:48 PM
No need to worry about the presale / no NYC, according to the presale email from Beck:
"Please hold on to this email for potential additional markets. There is no guarantee that additional markets will be added."
So hold on to your presale email and the code will hopefully be good again once NYC is announced.

I hate Beck. He's kind of a douche bag and his music isn't all THAT innovative.
Anyway, wasn't he born into a scientologist family and then quit? I don't think he's actually a scientologist anymore.
Posted by sixtypercentgrey | July 15, 2008 4:55 PM
JK- wiki proved me wrong.
In that case, he's all douche.
Posted by sixtypercentgrey | July 15, 2008 4:57 PM
"You missed a couple of dates; he's also playing in Vancouver and Victoria with Band of Horses in August."
Isn't Victoria just over a bridge from Vancouver? Why would any touring artist play Victoria in addition to Vancouver?
Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 6:56 PM

There are two separate passwords for Internet Presale (Mailing List) and iTunes Presale.
ORPHANS is the Mailing List Presale for at least this round of shows.

Isn't it strange that it says that the city/town is Washington Bridge, NY. Hope it is the same United Palace in Washington Heights! Could be quite a week of music w/ Nick Cave on Saturday and Beck on Thursday.
Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2008 3:25 PM
The show will be in Washington Heights. I think the main problem is getting tickets.
I can't wait for Nick Cave, MBV and Killing Joke!
Posted by Anonymous | July 28, 2008 3:50 PM
*I* think the main problem is, you like Beck.
