I wonder if Beck is bringing MGMT along to help with ticket sales.

"I wonder if Beck is bringing MGMT along to help with ticket sales."

BV gave the wrong password, 12:10?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:17 PM
12:10, where is the love? Seek therapy.

"Oh God, another MGMT post!"
It's a Beck post.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:22 PM
Of course he's bringing along MGMT to boost ticket sales. Why else would he have these guys open - do you really think Beck is a huge MGMT fan? Unlikely.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:23 PM
no, he forgot the vowels in "The Management"
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:23 PM
you forgot to post you're supporting scientology by attending.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:25 PM
I'm letting all yalls know now, I'm cutting the line.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:25 PM
There's nothing wrong with what BV posted.
Presale is on August 1st (Friday) @ 10:30 a.m.
Pass = modern
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:27 PM
I am proud to say I hate Beck solely because of his religion!
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:30 PM
I'd like to see Beck here. I've seen Beck 2x, both in extreme situations (Bonnaroo and Angel Oransanz). A regular show would be nice.
You think he'll add some weekend shows?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:34 PM
"There's nothing wrong with what BV posted."
Yes of course exactly. It is perfectly correct. Now STFU and stop talking about it.

Is there an itunes presale for this show(with the codes we got) or no?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:41 PM
The password isn't ORPHANS?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:47 PM
....ugh MGMT, I saw them once and I thought it was 1986...
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:48 PM
Actually this is a good thing. The password might be modern or it might be orphans. Someone got it wrong although i do know which is the right one. So have fun trying both on Friday. I will have already gotten into the system and got my ticket upfront.

when i was younger i used to think beck was so super creative. now that i am older and more informed i realize he has essentially made a career of ripping off previously existing sounds and aesthetics.
case in point, these ridiculous 'jan-beck' esque promos. don't insult my intelligence thetan IV.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:55 PM
what are you talking about 12:55?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 12:59 PM
49? I can't. I hope he plays a secret show or anything like that for less.
Posted by Eduardo | July 29, 2008 1:01 PM
im talking about the fact that beck's "influences" are painfully evident on every album and throughout all of his reinventions, but never actually credited or even mentioned.
in academics, that is called plagiarism.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 1:06 PM
EDUARDO!!! GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!!! TOM CRUISE DEMANDS IT!!!
Posted by Xenu | July 29, 2008 1:10 PM
Scientology isn't even remotely good.
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 1:14 PM
I swear if BV posted that the weather was nice on a cloudless 75 degree day, there would be 65 f'in' posts debating it and/or trashing it
Posted by Long time reader, first time poster | July 29, 2008 1:15 PM
a musician that has influences is the worst
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 1:17 PM
how long before beck converts MGMT to scientology?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 1:38 PM
Cloudless days = skin cancer
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 1:53 PM
I wish it would rain
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 2:06 PM
I think someone should buy out Beck's next show...and give the tickets away in three shares to the following groups:
Lubavitcher Hasidic Jews
Hare Krishnas
Jews For Jesus...
that would make me smile for months
Posted by Thrush | July 29, 2008 2:36 PM
what time will MGMT come on for this show
i wanna make sure i don't miss them
is beck good should i stay for his show
i wanna make sure i get a ticket since i missed them this past sunday stuck on line
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 2:41 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 2:47 PM
what's up with all the hasidics at the MGMT show
seriously
i'm like crossing the street from mc carren and one stops me to know if this is where MGMT are playing!!!
no lie or fake joke
i'm serious
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 2:47 PM
How about you apply some common sense before asking these questions?
On TM.com, it says 7pm show. Assuming the standard concert policy applied by nearly every venue, 7pm doors, 8pm opening band.
Please don't buy tickets for MGMT only. You had so many chances to see them over the past year. They are not worth $50. Beck is great and last time I checked you don't have to agree with his religious views to enjoy his music. Go for Beck or both.
Posted by Asshole Answer Man | July 29, 2008 2:50 PM
who is beck?
can i expect a raging woodrow wilson??
does he/she have big thingys???
Posted by an inquiring mind | July 29, 2008 2:55 PM
i didn't know about them a year ago
magawd!
sorry i don't know standard concert time either
so kill me, but thank you for now informing me
and what do you mean don't come to see mgmt
this site is what came up when i google mgmt concerts
this isn't a mgmt fan site?
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 3:02 PM
Hey I said I was an asshole so I gotta live up to my reputation.
Get tickets but stay for Beck, you won't be disappointed. Especially seeing as you are willing to pay $50 for MGMT. From my understanding, the album doesn't translate that well live unless they have perfected their act by now. At least get your $50 worth!
Posted by Asshole Answer Man | July 29, 2008 3:08 PM
thank you will do!
Posted by Anonymous | July 29, 2008 3:12 PM
thank you WILL BERMAN

Uh, shakin' like getting they shirt
Who is that rockin' the spot? It's Willie Beamen.
Who is that keepin' it hot? I'm Willie Beamen.
Who is that bringing the pain? It's Willie Beamen.
Got the ladies screaming my name (the bitches screamin')

Thanks for the code Row CC orchestra!
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:22 AM
ah i only got row q
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:25 AM
Row FF for me. Also ohmyrockness is listing beck playing there on the 10/8 as well. My guess is that once this one sells out they will ad another night.
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:25 AM
I saw 10/8 listed on ticketmaster yesterday
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:27 AM
no doubt. get 10/8 back up, yo.
Posted by Tito | August 1, 2008 10:31 AM
no tix-- argh!
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:32 AM
Donkey Boner!
Posted by Row E | August 1, 2008 10:32 AM
MGMT > Beck
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:38 AM
finally after 10 mins i got in, and the only seats were balcony. lame.
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:40 AM
keep trying, they're releasing lots of different tickets - i gave up balcony seats, and got orchestra on the 2nd time around. its kinda random.
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:42 AM
Balcony row K - and that was at 10:30 on the dot!
Posted by Austin | August 1, 2008 10:46 AM
You are FUCKING retarded. Yeah MGMT > Beck, you clueless fuck. Beck has been pumping out great albums for 15+ years and MGMT has one album which they can barely play live.
I love the MGMT album but that is utter crap if you believe what you wrote.
Posted by @ 10:38 | August 1, 2008 10:50 AM
still are tix left, go 1 at a time
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:54 AM
when is the public sale for this show?! I got the e-mail from the newsletter, all presale is sold out, and neither the beck website, nor ticketmaster has any date info for the public sale date! they only have the info for montreal...what the hell? by the way scientologist freak or not, beck is an incredible musician and performer!
Posted by ebinard | August 1, 2008 11:41 AM
MGMT had a huge crowd at Lollapalooza - most of it left halfway through. They were TERRIBLE.
Posted by Anonymous | August 4, 2008 11:21 AM
MGMT > Beck
Posted by Anonymous | August 1, 2008 10:38 AM
Can you post your address so I can come over and bludgeon you to death for that blasphemous comment?
MGMT:
2008 - Oracular Spectacular
Beck (major releases only):
1994 - Mellow Gold
1996 - Odeley
1998 - Mutations
1999 - Midnight Vultures
2002 - Sea Change
2005 - Guero
2006 - The Information
2008 - Modern Guilt
Why don't you go see both live acts as well and see if you comment still holds up. Beck is a performance master while MGMT still doesn't know how to transfer their studio tracks to a live stage.
Posted by Anonymous | August 4, 2008 11:41 AM
I am a huge Beck fan, but I have to be honest and say that his post Modern Guilt shows have been terrible. He is lifeless on stage and the crowd has been getting bored. I like MGMT also, but I have not heard them live.
