I think all the guys in these bands are really nice and I appreciate everyone has a lot of fun but I wish people would get this excitable about more challenging music or these bands made more challenging music.

Put your right hand in the air! Glare at the person next to you and open your right hand. Turn it so that the back faces them and close all but your middle finger. Spit in their face and kick them in the nuts. F-yeah!

What are people's problems with Dan Deacon? I'm not sure where there is a universe where he is doing anything but good. He is an intelligent, academically trained multi-musician with post graduate work with acoustic studies who helped start Culture Shock at SUNY Purcahse, helped make the city of Baltimore a better place to live by working to make Wham City and Whartscape, and additionally does a live show that is a lot of fun and makes no other promises. His record is one of the most realized music pieces in the past ten years. There is not a boring song on it and the production style is not similar to anything thats ever came out before specifically.

Do some of the people on this board go to GWAR shows and hyper criticized what they use for fake blood? If you think Dan Deacon sucks, figure out why specifically, and then personally take it upon yourself to go and further your own life by what ever good you somehow discovered in grinding your teeth at a picture of a man really happy in a huge t-shirt.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 4:58 PM

Dan Deacon sucks because his music is unlistenable crap.

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 6:15 PM

"He is an intelligent, academically trained multi-musician with post graduate work with acoustic studies who helped start Culture Shock at SUNY Purcahse, helped make the city of Baltimore a better place to live by working to make Wham City and Whartscape"

You and he are bile. Who gives a shit about his training?

Where's the substance?!

In reality yourself and the Dan Deacon's of the universe contribute nothing to society and nothing to music.

Go back to your record collection, i.e., your identity, and rethink things.

BTW- Have you ever listened to Dan Deacon's Ska band from the 90's?

Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 8:04 PM

6:15 and 8:04.

you both pretty much say the same thing here, albeit one with a lot more superfluous words.

let me paraphrase you both:

"Dan Deacon is (insert derogatory adjective here)."

there's no substance to your posts. You're pretty much saying Dan Deacon sucks because he sucks.

Use your words, little one, form a sentence where you actually explain what you mean. Otherwise, stop posting! It wastes your time and everybody else's.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 4:58 AM

Dan Deacon sucks because his music is not good, and that's a fact. What else do you want?

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 6:12 AM

wow 6:12, did you fail freshman composition?

Dan Deacon;s music is about 10 degrees of complex above your average punk band, and he also beats them onstage energy wise by a mile.

Given that we're on a thread about simplistic (albeit classic), 3 chord bloated punk bands ala Circle Jerks, Dillinger 4, etc - it's pretty fucking plainly stupid that anyone wants to criticize Dan Deacon for musical ability (and anyway, he didn't even play this show, ya dimwits).

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:08 PM

wow 6:12, did you fail freshman composition?

"an Deacon;s music is about 10 degrees of complex above your average punk ban"

You are boring, average, dumb, uninteresting, and annoying. Much like Mr. Deacon.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:44 PM

let me translate 12:44 / 6:12 into the simple declarative statements that he so wants to be able to say:

I don't like you! I don't like Dan Deacon! Whaaa!

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:51 PM

12:44, I don't think you could have come up with a more embarrassingly childish response. You've done my work for me! anyone who read your string of insults and name calling will conclude that you're just a kid.

Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:57 PM

Dan Deacon is GOD! He speaks to the inner trust fund kid in all of us!

When I hang out in my local coffee shop, surfing my favorite Indie blogs (on my MacBook Pro of course), all I can think of is "how can I help spread the gospel of Dan Deacon!".

I then hit the streets and find a way to be ironic! It's my way of justifying the neo-yuppie lifestyle I choose to live. Well, at least for like the next two years or so. You know, until mom and dad stop sending me money.

Then, ten years from now, when I move to Connecticut, I'll forget all about him and the hollow ideals I hold today.

I'm sorry, I'm rambling. Dan is God. That's my message.

He is making such an impact on music. His shows and idea's are changing the landscape as we speak! Robert Johnson was a hack.....fuck, Bobby Dylan was a hack, too!

Viva Dan Deacon!!!!!!!

That guy was so negative. I've never heard Dan Deacon's ska band but I've heard Brian Chippendale's metal band. I've heard Todd P's folk band. I've heard a lot of TOTALLY lame bands by obscenely awesome people. It doesn't mean that they're infected with the AIDS virus and that AIDS actually means they've somehow been banished for life into a dark corridor of only being able to make bad music. It means that they sucked once and rose to the occasion. Oh shit, I forgot. You're on a messageboard and not playing to thousands of people! Oh shit dude! That DOES totally suck!

Dan Deacon makes honest music and if his subjective, accumulated opinion of honesty is Spiderman of the Rings, then what do you have? Oh shit! Thats funny Brooklyn Vegan! You're actually using your adspace money to RAISE MOZART FROM THE DEAD! You've literally RAISED MOZART FROM THE DEAD to talk about how his music is better than Dan Deacon's. Woa! Thats crazy dude!

Also, I assure you that I will win because I am fighting "With G-d on Our Side". How's that for an allusion?

Posted by Josh Brown | July 15, 2008 1:03 AM

Uhhh, like, you guys are smart or something. huhuh, a-huhuhuhuh.

Posted by Anonymous | July 15, 2008 8:25 AM

I am smart and proud of it and I'm not sure what your issue with that could possibly be. Are you stupid and self assured? Cause objectively thats what I think when people try to bring down my intelligence.

Oh I forgot! Most of BV's read base is actually me, talking in different personas now! So yeah, you all do have access to my subjectivity, so maybe you now all do know how smart I am!

Dan Deacon is a terrible musician. You can never really enjoy his show because he's unatrractive to look at. also, his music is unatrractive to listen to.
Dan Deacon is also a terrible person in the real life. He doesnt flush, he leaves his hair on your soap, he watches porn on your parents computer, peels his flaking skin on your carpet, brushes his teeth with your toothbrush and eats all of the food out of your kitchen.

god, i hate him.

Posted by Anonymous | June 8, 2009 1:32 PM

Dan Deacon has no sense of taste or restraint. At all. His music is incredibly maximal and busy, and it really does induce migraines. But maybe his balls to the wall maximalism is some people's thing. That's great. You guys keep listening to it and pretending it's wonderful music. It's really just a cluster of directionless, noisy garbage. Sorry. There's just no way around it. Dan Deacon sucks. Period.

Posted by Anonymous | September 6, 2009 10:41 PM

dan deacon sucks because he is a hipster, and hipsters suck. A = B = C, therefore A = C.
