more pics of hot ladies?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:02 AM

hmm, lots of cute feist-type girls attended, it seems.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:03 AM

so I guess it didn't rain?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:05 AM

the girl with the striped-top can so get it.

feist, cowboy-boots girl, etc....not so much.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:51 AM

this was a great concert. too bad too many people did not know the songs and played along (interactivity), but u get that at a lot of concerts. i wished she played "the park" (hello, its prospect park?), and "one evening." but oh well. it was great, and we got an encore too.

the only songs i know she sang in chronological order was:

1. when i was a young girl
2. mushaboom

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:05 AM

"fesit-type girls?"

you're a dweeb.

Posted by god below | July 10, 2008 2:14 AM

great show/bad crowd

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:23 AM

she sang "gatekeeper" twice, which was nice! and i loved "sea lion woman" excellent song live!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:24 AM

i wish "La même histoire" was more notable, she would of played that! i love that song (even though im not french or even know french for that matter.)

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:27 AM

there was pouring rain for a little bit, but it didn't last. it actually added to the show's feel, especially with feist doing several solo songs. juana molina ended up being a perfect opener, since feist messed around with vocal loops as well. cool show.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:53 AM

God I hope they make a few records together. Everything Feist seems to do turns to gold, and with Juana Molina, oh I can just imagine the brilliance now.

More pictures of indie sluts, less of the rest please.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 6:00 AM

^^ haha.

yeah, it sure does seem like loooooots of chicks''n'boots type.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 6:27 AM

you people are such tools, as is the person who took the pictures at the show. happy jerking off losers!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 7:18 AM

did you say something? i was too busy jerking off.

Posted by GOPster | July 10, 2008 7:34 AM

cool = commenting about normal women at shows as "indie sluts" or "feist-types" etc...

you people are so hip

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 7:41 AM

hilarious. by looking at those pictures, one would definitely think this was a women only show. sexist no?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 8:04 AM

I'm as horny as the next guy but these are just average decent looking women. And if you look at the people in the background of the "Feist type" photos, you'll see that the majority of the audience were quite...ahem...modest. Nothing to freak out over people.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 8:06 AM

I'd mushabang any one of those feist-type girls...

Posted by JWeir | July 10, 2008 8:47 AM

I'd budge it.
I'd shove it.
I'd hit it.
I'd love it (in the butt)

women read this site as well, you know, so show some respect and restraint commenters.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:05 AM

you can clearly tell that the photographer was male and was taking advantage of his camera lens to zoom in on chicks. which i find obnoxious considering the point of the post is to showcase the artists, not the hot chicks in the crowd.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:07 AM

9:05 -- it is precisely be*cause* women read this site that we delight in these disgusting, crass shows of male sexual privilege. I'm going to go back to jerking off now, slowly & with relish, if you'll excuse me.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:11 AM

Pic 2 (croc-mouthed lesbian overly excited about the lillith fair-esque vibe): Erection-Killer.

Pic 9 (leg show): Added this one to the wank rolodex!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:21 AM

wait, "cowboy boot girls" and "feist-type" is offensive now? for the record, if girls referred to me as "cowboy shirt guy" or "malkmus-type" guy, i would take no offense at all. objectify me, ladies!!!

Damn, her 15 minutes of fame are actually lasting a year!

you mean the spank bank?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:24 AM

who wrote this? > More pictures of indie sluts, less of the rest please.

seriously. i would love for you to show your face. what kind of person are you? the fact that there are women at shows, you feel the need to speak of them as "sluts"? really? is that how you go about trying to date women? unbelievable. truly. as much as i enjoy reading the music on this site, it's incredibly sad to see that type of mudslinging going on for absolutely no reason. have fun living with yourself.

hey, ass...before you start throwing snarky remarks about, do your fucking homework. her first record was out almost a year in europe before it ever got released in the states. then a few years later came the second record, which isn't exactly hot off the press. and besides that, she's been hanging with the bss scene for a while in case you've been in your closet jerking off to r. kelly. so really, wise up, do homework and get a clue. you may or may not like her. that's not the issue here. the fact is, she's actually been making music available to people for quite some time now.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:39 AM

everyone here deserves to have someone pee in their butts. SRSLY. TYPING HARD ON MACBOOK.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:43 AM

i thought the show was beyond boring. she doesn't engage the audience, barely playing loud enough or with any energy to call it a show. there are of course moments when this is not the case, but more than 50% of the time - boring...

would have been much better off inside. more intimate setting. she felt lost outside.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 9:55 AM

Personally, I thought the show was pretty awesome (save the pouring rain and what seemed like a lot of college couples swaying in one another's arms). I think the 'shadow artists' Clea Minaker and Diane Montgomery were especially fantastic and gave the show some atmosphere.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 10:46 AM

9:55 - that's why you should have been cool enough to see her a couple of years ago when she wasn't big time.

9:23 - you're an idiot.

6:00 - I bet these summer dress wearing girls are probably harder to sleep with than most. Go to union pool and find a bleach blonde in a black and white striped shirt and jeans sucking down rail whisky. Thas your indie slut for ya.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 10:49 AM

9:55 AM: I have to agree. She's a very talented performer with a unique voice. Her stage presence was non-existent and lacked any charisma. I saw dozens of people leave the venue a half hour into her set. And, what was with those projections? Seemed like a first-grade art project. Did not add a thing to my appreciation of the performance. Yes, a smaller venue suits her well.

Ms. Molina is obviously a great talent, but was lost as a warm-up act in the rain.

Posted by famdoc | July 10, 2008 10:58 AM

Harder to sleep with? Every desperate girl on nerve.com lists Feist as a favorite, along with Postal Service and other bands preferred by people who favor just-left-of-center lifestyle boringness.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 11:00 AM

anon 9:25 is ugly.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 11:24 AM

the park security was lame. umbrellas cwere onfiscated at the door for a show where everyone brought one since it was raining. Score for anyone looking for a free umbrella.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 11:26 AM

LOL! SPANK BANK!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 11:30 AM

11:26--the private security company contracted by BRIC to provide security for this event was more than lame. They were hostile, arrogant and clueless.
Advanced info on this concert stipulated that no coolers, glass or recording devices would be permitted onto the grounds. It did not stipulate that no umbrellas could be brought onto the grounds.
They were completely arbitrary about enforcing this ruling. As a result, many people were permitted in with umbrellas, while others were forced to surrender their umbrellas, with the warning that the security company would not be responsible for surrendered umbrellas. When I questioned the policy, a security supervisor (a hulking, big, dumbass rent-a-cop, who would never make it as a member of any police force, not even Reno 9-1-1) became physically menacing.
I will copy this to BRIC to discourage them from employing this service in the future.

Posted by anonymous | July 10, 2008 11:58 AM

why is slut a pejorative term? The world is a better place because of them.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 12:14 PM

thats pretty shitty way to treat a customer. What if you had an expensive umbrella?

also, do they really need NYPD inside the grounds as well? They really killed the mood at MMW concert last month.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 12:22 PM

Ms. Molina is obviously a great talent, but was lost as a warm-up act in the rain.

^^
I thought the rain actually complemented her performance. And to the prick that keeps talking about feist's 15 min, you obviously don't really know how long she has been around or how talented she really is. So go on pretending like your a up to date "scenester" and fuck off next time she comes to town.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 12:45 PM

to people who thought it wasn't a great show coz it wasn't that engaging... you should name shows that you like and what music you listen to so we know where you are coming from...you reggaeton-lover you.

Anyone got screwed over by security coz they brought a 'professional' lens or anything above a point and shoot?'

Wtf...what we gonna do? pirate the images? nowadays they shud just worry bout recording devices and not photographs.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 12:52 PM

I have to second that one. Feist is very notable, if not here in the States, she is in Europe and Canada....perhaps you should do a little research before you talk.

D O E S A N Y O N E H AV E T H E S E T L I S T ???

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 12:56 PM

Don't confuse fame with career. You can toil away in obscurity before and after 15 minutes of fame. I presume that's what that commenter means.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:03 PM

Too bad none of us could enjoy Feist's Prospect Park show. Surprised by not being allowed umbrellas into a public park, in the torrential rain, we were all forced to leave them in a heap of thousands outside the venue, and endure 4 hours of downpour, no cover provided and no money back. Who's going to pay the medical bill for the cold I caught? My attitude toward the Celebrate Brooklyn series has definitely taken a turn for the worse. At $35 a ticket, I don't appreciate arbitrary, and potentially health threatening rules (enforced by threats of violence!!) ruining my evening. Next time, Prospect Park, if you have to hire outside promoters, perhaps don't pick such a bunch of Neanderthals.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 1:20 PM

The Celebrate Brooklyn site did mention that the show was rain or shine, and that no umbrellas were allowed (presumably because they block views?). I'm pretty sure that the Ticketmaster site didn't mention this, so if you didn't go to the Celebrate Brooklyn site, you wouldn't know. That's something they should fix.

I agree that they door folks were lax about enforcing the no umbrella rule. My friend had hers tucked into the bottom of her bag and was able to get it in. When the rain did start, though, I must've seen 100 umbrellas being used inside the venue.

From reading a post on the other thread, I decided to buy a $3 poncho from an army navy store. That worked out pretty well, although it was a bit warm.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:45 PM

What time did she play "Sea Lion Woman"? I got a list bored and left around 10:15 PM. I really hate that I missed that one.

Haven't been able to find the set list.

Does anyone know the name of the last song Juana Molina played?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:46 PM

if people dont complain things dont change. What gives you the right to look inside my bag? fuck you! thats civil litigation right there. these concert security FUCKS think they can just walk all over our rights.

NOT TO MENTION, how are they getting away with violating my 1st amendent protected right to take pictures at a public event?

Please people dont take it lying down when you civil rights are violated. I suggest rev Billy should be contacted if he would please come to the next event there and raise a stink.

I was typing this so hard i almost broke the keyboard!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 2:57 PM

the show was crap. half the people talked through her set. she's a great singer but can't hold an audiences attention for shit. but i guess her audiences expectations are somewhat low sadly.

Posted by marcus | July 10, 2008 4:10 PM

why is there more complaints than praise on how the show was presented? Did you guys not appreciate the shadow show? They made it looks simple but that's a really tricky thing to pull off. They made it look fun and it's not too showy and 'over-produced'.

If someone will complain. Please mentioned that the said security is slow to respond to a woman who fainted/collapsed during the show. Once personnel got to the scene, they didn't look too knowledgeable on how to the emergency.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 4:31 PM

I think the photos of the girls from the crowd that are mixed in are quite lovely and sensitive. Not exactly girls gone wild type stuff.

Posted by Lori | July 10, 2008 4:33 PM

I loved it. The music from both Juana Molina and Feist was great - I thought the shadow art was really fun and the rain...well, I take a shower at least once a day so, you know, I am pretty good and navigating a little water...sounds like other people are less experienced in this department.

However..I do agree the the security were totally douche and we should have been able to hang onto our umbrella...ella...ella - eh?

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 4:51 PM

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 6:05 PM

lovely. a bunch of obnoxious indie-rock hipsters.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 6:27 PM

Does anyone know the name of the last song Juana Molina played?
^^
I think it was "salvese quien pueda"

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 7:26 PM

"Don't confuse fame with career. You can toil away in obscurity before and after 15 minutes of fame. I presume that's what that commenter means."

That is exactly what I meant.

I have been a fan of BSS since the buzz first started. I first saw them at their Other Music show. I have "You Forgot It in People" with the original Canadian cover, before the US reissue.

That said, Feist is riding a wave of popularity right now that will not hold. Her solo stuff is not that good.

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 7:52 PM

Yes "salvese quien pueda" was the song - thanks 7:26!

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 8:51 PM

I love it when people who get all bent out of shape from comments people leave, and I love it that they think they arent the losers

Posted by Anonymous | July 10, 2008 10:23 PM

What time did she play "Sea Lion Woman"?
^^
It was the first song of her encore. Second was Let it Die.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 7:46 AM

there may have been plenty of girls inside but me and my friend were by the picnic tables outside, heard it all for free brought some food, and there were plenty of guys on the outside.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 10:49 AM

I absolutely could not let this one slip through the cracks...

instead of complaining about the rain, or arguing about feist's merits as a songwriter, did anyone actually take the time to make a setlist? i am doing a review of the concert for a local radio station and it would be relaly useful. i thought the concert was awesome, but i was right in the front so i didn't hear people talking.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 3:20 PM

i want to be labeled as the malkmus-type guy lol he is the man.

Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 4:11 PM

First off I hate to spoil all your arguments about doing your Feist hw... but she has three albums. There was one before "Let It Die". Go look for it its out there (and titled "Monarch (Lay Down Your Jeweled Head)"). Only 5000 copies released or something like that. As far as I know she generally likes to push that one aside referring to it as that "awkward high school photo you don't want anyone to see." If you were there you might have heard me holler out a request from that very album. "It's Cool to Love Your Family." I got all kinds of weird looks so I figured people weren't aware of the song (and in turn the album.) That was when she said "Oh boy, we got a throwback." Either way, here is the set list from what I can recall (and maybe not in this order)...

Acapella Intro
When I Was A Young Girl
Mushaboom
My Moon My Man
Gatekeeper
Limit To Your Love
I Feel It All
Honey Honey
New Song (about the Sun and the Moon)
Old Song (but never plays it in shows. about colors)
Cover (can't remember title)
Inside and Out
1234
Sea Lion

Encore
Cover (can't remember title)
Let It Die

If you didn't go you missed out.

Posted by Everett Sullivan | July 11, 2008 6:54 PM

I might have missed a song or two because thats just from memory and is in a general, but no particular order.

And do note that Inside and Out is also a cover... some good old BG.

---IS THIS A JOKE? Ok so you lost your six dollar umbrella to see an amazing artist perform. And "FOUR HOURS OF DOWNPOUR"???? There is a simple explanation for all this, you were not at the same show as we were. I remember a few short bursted downpours and some drizzling but lay of complaints. I feel bad if you apply this outlook on most of the things you do. Good luck with finding some optimism... or for that note, reality.

@ Everett Sullivan

Thanks for taking a stab at remembering the setlist. Unfortunately the only songs I was trying to figure out the names too, you didn't know! Doh....

I'd live to find out the "colors" one... and then there was a cover later in the set (maybe a few songs before the show was over) that seemed like a song from the 80's... bout love or sumthin...

HELP!

Posted by JB | July 21, 2008 2:43 PM

annnnnnnnd by "too" I meant "to" and by "live" I meant "love." I suck.

Posted by JB | July 21, 2008 2:46 PM

@ 257

Now that it's been a while since the show and I have seen her a few times I may be intertwining memories... but I think she covered Lucinda William's "Over Time". And I hear is now referring to the song about the sun and the moon as "Sunset" on the set lists.
