Reed even plays old man guitars now. Sad.

J. D. Oxblood sez you guys might appreciate his posts on our blog. It's mostly about burlesque, music, naked women, and what it takes to get a lap dance in Williamsburg.http://culturalcapitol.com/2008/07/10/j-d-oxblood-on-why-burlesque-shows-are-better-than-strip-clubs-pt-i-or-julie-atlas-muz-gave-me-a-ride-on-her-bike/

lou reed has been playing old man guitars since before you were born.

$75, give me a fucking break. I would MAYBE pay that much if it was the Velvet Underground, but Lou solo nowadays is not worth that at all.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 9:38 PM
if zorn got naked city back together, that would be worth the $75. him alone with lou alone, eh, not so much. they just did the same gig, with lou's wife, at tonic not that long ago and tix weren't near that price.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 9:51 PM
It's not JUST going to be them two you dolts. It's a Lou Reed show. Steve Hunter and Rob Wasserman will be there for sure.
These tix are $25 cheaper than the $100 tix for Lou's Highline show.
Oh, and Lou still rocks it. He's holding up A LOT better than a certain "voice of a generation."

word. seen two of his shows in the last few years - one on the ecstasy tour which was fuckin amazing (even though i'm not crazy about that album...), another when he did berlin at st. anne's - again, great (except for julian schnabel's stupid visuals).

I was at the Highline show where Zorn guested on a couple songs. Amazing. An entire night of that is easily worth $75.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:11 PM
Jesus Christ Will Kenton, get to the fuckin point. I think you broke the internet!
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:17 PM
Posters on BV must be retarded. Lou Reed today is 50,000 times better than the junk that gets love on here - Dan Deacon, Crystal Castles, etc.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:12 AM
Lou's got guns.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 8:26 AM
anyone hating on Lou Reed can just go fuck off. without lou and iggy 95% of rock bands would not exist.
you guys need to get some fucking respect. because you're only making yourself sound like idiots to anyone who knows anything about rock and roll.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 9:16 AM
a lot of oldie olsons kinda mail it in these days but that is not the case with Lou he still throws down for you. Seeing Reed in a small room is amazing, unfortunately le poisson rouge is a boatload of suck. I highly doubt they can pull of a show like this without killing the experience as they cant even get it together for the wordless shows that are not even sold out.

nico better rise from the grave for $75.

Saw Reed - Zorn at The Stone back in January. Ruled. This should be great again.

>The Stone
is this shorthand for "I’m a hipster, but I don’t want to reveal the fact that I went to New Jersey for anything, so I’ll refer to the Stone Pony here in code so you won’t know?"

^shut up

Anon 10:59. I saw it at the Stone period. Not slamming Jersey or any venue in my post - that just happens to be where that show was. I thought the show was good, so in my opinion it's worth $75 to go to this show as well. Isn't that the point of these comments - to give somewhat informed opinion? Don't be such a tool.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 11:39 AM
hey, all of you people that think Lou Reed is to old to be a musician - how about if all of you are fired within the next few years because you are now considered "old"
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 11:42 AM
to all the kids, when you're old (IT WILL HAPPEN) you should be fortunate enough to be able to be playing music for a living. but sadly, most of you will be working some shit job, while the 20year olds of the future laugh at your fading tattoos and sagging skin and call you old. and you'll deserve every miserable second of it.
idiots.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 12:01 PM
hey the tattoos are already fading.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 12:05 PM
at anon 10:59, there is a venue in the east village run by John Zorn called The Stone. Lou Reed guested with him there in January. http://www.thestonenyc.com/ $75 is worth seeing Lou Reed at an intimate venue with the one and only John Zorn. If you notice the trend on these comments everyone who has seen him recently would gladly go. I saw him at both highline shows and each show was brilliant. He surrounds himself with the best musicians you can find and John Zorn is no exception.

are you for real? why don't you get yourself a computer. got it? ok, now, go visit this site: http://www.thestonenyc.com/
ok, there? good. you'll now see it's a venue in alphabet city which zorn runs and allows different musicians to put together shows for a month. ok asshole? the stone pony is a venue in a different state. get a fucking clue.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 12:58 PM
Who dares to sully the name of Lou Reed? People with absolutely no clue about music that's who. I laugh and spit on you. Like someone said above this show is not just Lou and Zorn. Lou's backing band will with him and this will not be the same type of thing that was done at The Stone. I will gladly pay 75 for this.

who the fuck's lou reed?
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:20 PM
Lou Reed is a sexy fucking bitch. Go fuck yourselves and you'll find out why.

This show was painful. Really, really awful.
Posted by Anonymous | September 3, 2008 8:01 AM
I disagree. The show was fantastic. The only downside was how loud it was and the fact that the sound was kind of muddy. Otherwise, it rocked. To the person who said that le poisson rouge sucked, are we talking about the same place? I thought it was a sweet space and the kind of shit theyre booking is really interesting, not the usual indie rock stuff you'd expect to find at a hip-looking club like that.

is everyone too hung up on hating/defending Lou to point out how MISERABLY FUCKING SHITTY john zorn is and ALWAYS was?
