20 minute sets?
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:02 PM
"20 minute sets? "
2 stages
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:03 PM
No, there are 2 stages meaning 30 minute sets.
Posted by anonymous2 | July 11, 2008 5:04 PM
this should really be an awesome day.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:11 PM
2 stages at a small venue means 20-30 minute sets yes.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:19 PM
so like would No Age play after Oneida? What is the curfew?
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:19 PM
is no age rumored? they have to be in washington for the subpop thing on sunday.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:22 PM
yeah - that's a stretch for those no age guys to close that bill - they'll be destroyed for their trek out west the next night.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:24 PM
sounds more like no age play early before their flights...
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:26 PM
Mid-July ain't mid-summer...to think otherwise is too depressing.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:28 PM
or not at all
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:28 PM
yeah - doesn't seem like they're playing
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 5:31 PM
no age doesn't fly because airplanes use beef tallow in the jet fuel.
Posted by Sherm | July 11, 2008 6:11 PM
I wouldn't say they're not playing...
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 6:25 PM
no age are overrated anyhow. and i am not one to complain. boring album. ok live.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 6:38 PM
this is just the phish reunion show most of us die hard fans have been waiting for.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 6:40 PM
is this byob?? i went last year and spent a ton on booze at the mini-bar. was going to go to a bodega to get some 22s but it appeared the security people were confiscating anything that wasn't purchased on site. what's the deal?
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 6:51 PM
i don't really understand the no age hype either.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 7:50 PM
shucks.
i'm going to see bon jovi for free with 50,000 people.
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 8:33 PM
bon jivo blows!!
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 8:54 PM
hope he plays that song from the New Jersey commercial
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 9:10 PM
"Mid-July ain't mid-summer...to think otherwise is too depressing."
Say the first day of what is popularly considered summer is the Friday before Memorial Day (May 23 this year) and the last day is Labor Day (Sept. 1). That means this year, summer has 102 days and the 51st day of summer is July 12 (tomorrow!).

No Age = Good
Titus Andronicus = Better
High Places = Best
Granted, I haven't seen any of them live yet, so I can only half-judge...
Posted by Anonymous | July 11, 2008 9:40 PM
^^
You know it's true!
Posted by Fab Morvan | July 11, 2008 10:12 PM
knyfe hyts!
Posted by the mall | July 11, 2008 11:47 PM
come on you know Vivian Girls are the best, did I even have to say it?
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 10:21 AM
Lets go swimming in the canal!
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 10:37 AM
can't wait to see ponytail! how many people can the yard hold? any chances of selling out?
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 10:53 AM
KNYFE HYTS, yo!
Posted by Damien | July 12, 2008 12:59 PM
i wish bear hands was on THIS bill so i didn't have to go all the way to market hotel tonite
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 2:18 PM
how was it? any pics?
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 9:32 PM
holy crap that was an amazing, amazing day. thanks to the bands, todd p, etc. soooo much fun. sucks about chairlift though. :(
can't wait to see the pictures from this!
Posted by Anonymous | July 12, 2008 10:23 PM
BEST SHOW OF THE SUMMER (so far). Todd P + Crashin' In + Impose, you guys are awesome. Great bands, great crowd, great venue.
Alas, Chairlift canceled - I've seen them twice and really like them. Ninja Sonik showed up late and played right before High Places. No Age was supposed to headline, but didn't make it. Ended a little after nine.
Blogging furiously about it...
Posted by Roland | July 12, 2008 11:58 PM
that was so much fun!
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 12:28 AM
was no age really supposed to be added to this? i know it got rumored, but then they ended up playing that midnight show instead (i would think instead of the show at the yard today).
the thing about chairlift is too bad. i saw them last week at mercury and really liked them -- and rushed over to be there around noon so not to miss them. i hope their van isn't screwed up too bad. at least the band wasn't injured.
i love how high places played from... a high place (only to have some douche go over and freestyle after oneida until someone literally threw a speaker at him to stop; people thought it was no age coming on, i think).
i can't get enough of this do-it-yourself stuff. todd p runs an amazing show and just lets the bands and the fans have an awesome time. and this venue is great -- right on the water with a pretty nice view from (and of) the bridge.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 12:32 AM
Plus the relaxed door people and security made it a total positive vibe. Zero attitude. Ins and outs no problem with no searches or stress...and I hope you people tried one of those kick ass tacos...that food line didn't stay long all day for nothing! Good music, good vibes, good times!
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 12:38 AM
Oneida are good at playing hypnotic psychedlic background jams for hours. Probably wouldn't have paid $10 for it, but the sound was good from the Carrol Street bridge. :-)
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 1:34 AM
^^^"Probably wouldn't have paid $10" for approx. 14 bands of various coolness who all need listeners to support the cause rather than mooching for free off the bridge huh?
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 8:37 AM
"Probably wouldn't have paid $10 for it, but the sound was good from the Carrol Street bridge. :-)"
You are probably the same type of person that only downloads music.

one of the best days of my life. better than woodstock.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 10:26 AM
Patrick from Titus Andronicus said that this "has been the best day of my life" like 4 times over the mike. By all appearances, sincerely.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 10:54 AM
Ponytail's moment, right there yesterday. From here, those dudes get HUGE
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 1:01 PM
yes! I agree with 1:01, I was so moved I literally felt tears in my eyes at the end of their set, but didnt want to look like a pussy so i held it back.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 1:08 PM
that new song Ponytail played last was transcendent, epic
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 1:18 PM
Ponytail stole the show last night. Could have done without the mosh pit though.
Posted by Anonymous | July 13, 2008 8:34 PM
Ponytail will be one of the bands that "raise above the arc." They are clearly special and talented. Plus they have that special "oddball quality" of appearing as if they live in their own quirky world oblivious to others. Great band!
Posted by blackhat | July 13, 2008 9:13 PM
yeah agreed. best show of the summer. the yard is an incredible space. props to meanred for making it happen

I have a few pics on the blog here, check 'em out. Did anyone spot John Norris during Ninjasonik? LOL
Posted by A | July 14, 2008 11:35 AM
that wasnt John Norris.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 11:44 AM
john norris was there.
and yeah ponytail pretty much owned the show - they were the only band that had people earnestly wanting an encore.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 11:48 AM
yeah, some dude approached him and asked him if he was john norris and he was like "who? no Im not john norris". so just saying.
unless John Norris and his look-alike were there, this did not happen.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 11:52 AM
John Norris comes out all the time. He's a pretty savvy fan and supporter of the scene.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:01 PM
it was john norris, i stood right next to him
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:16 PM
Yeah it was John Norris, not a big deal. This is New York, well known people are at the shows enjoying themselves all the time, don't freak out about it.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:28 PM
yeah no big deal at all. just thought it was funny seeing him laugh at their lyrics. Susan Sarandon at MIA...now that was cool.
Posted by A | July 14, 2008 12:35 PM
it's a big deal only the in the fact that it's rad that a famous dude who could see easily be totally out of touch and aloof is instead actually out there enjoying himself and seeing new things.
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 12:54 PM
you going to post some picture of this epic day?
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 1:49 PM
a vid? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rs_FrUiAk28
thats it? only one?
Posted by Anonymous | July 14, 2008 1:59 PM
no pictures yet?
Posted by davvid | July 14, 2008 11:26 PM
I think everyone's pretty wrecked from the big weekend. I'm sure pictures and videos will go up all over the internet soon
