furry fight

Neon Neon have backed up Kele from Bloc Party's statement on John Lydon's alleged racist attack, after witnessing the event.

Speaking exclusively to MTV News Gruff Rhys from the group said: "It was horrific. Kele is a very brave man and what he said is exactly what happened."

The band were backstage at the Summercase Festival in Barcelona with other British groups when the alleged assault took place and confirmed they saw everything.

Neon Neon and Super Furry Animals singer Gruff added: "The statements Kele has said are absolutely true. It did happen."

John Lydon denies it. John Lydon played in the fourth best punk band ever. John Lydon has sexy dance moves.

Neon Neon are up for this year's Mercury Prize, a prize that Gruff (Super Furry Animals 'Rings Around the World;') lost to PJ Harvey in 2001.

WHERE IS OBAMA AT? HURRY UP I WANNA CUT HIS NUTS OFF

The headline is wrong. Neon Neon did not back up Rotten's claim, but rather Kele's.

All is forgiven when sexy dance moves are introduced into the mix.

The man is in the fourth best punk band ever, how could he be wrong about anything? If he said the sky was red I would believe him. Kele, shut up, be a man a make a good record! That latest bloc party stuff sounds like poo.

It sucks that Lydon is a bigot, but it doesn't take away from the fact that Bloc Party has been blowing it lately. Seriously.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 8:50 PM

All brits are racists. This is no surprise .I liked PIL tough.

Posted by Arthur | July 23, 2008 10:12 PM

The problem is their British attitude.

Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:26 PM

they're gonna kill that poor woman

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:16 AM

Can we really blame British punk rockers for being racists? All those dudes are neo-nazi's anyway. I mean Mick Jones was in a neo-nazi punk band before The Clash, and he's half Jewish!

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:20 AM

Lydon invented punk, not 4th, not 3rd, not 2nd, not the ramones, not new york dolls, lydon invented punk. punk was invented on king's road,
chelsea, london. not in new york, not in CBGB.

if not for lydond y'all would still be listening
to bon jovi.

bloc party are bunch of thiefs from day one.
it's pathetic how this guy kills himself to sound
like robert smith. 2000s retro suck.

good for lydon, the young bloc party guy is a whimp. gezzers rock alright!!

Hey 2:20, what mick jones and the clash did for
equality and for british blacks is way more what
you'll ever do for your own rights,
you ignorant fool.

everyone has something to say,
what did you ever do for anyone?

Posted by danny boy | July 24, 2008 4:26 AM

All I said was that it's sort of hypocritical to rip on British punk rockers like The Sex Pistols for being racist (or Lydon being a prick, for that matter) while at the same time championing their SS-inspired style and paraphernalia (further augmented in new wave acts like Joy Division who, no matter how much they deny it, were really into Nazism).

(Interesting side note: did you know that John Lydon was the inspiration for The Joker in "The Dark Knight?" Nolan himself has gone on record as saying as much...)

And I said MICK JONES was in a neo-nazi punk band prior to The Clash, despite being half Jewish. This is separate from The Clash, and has nothing to do with them. I wasn't being critical of The Clash, you stupid twat, so stop employing your silly logical fallacies.

Also nowadays, Lydon is so NOT punk rock.

You didn't by chance manage to catch him on the reality show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here" did ya? Or his appearance on "Judge Judy," perhaps?

Or that half-baked "reunion" that The Sex Pistols had, including that truly awful performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live?

Punk is Dead.

corroboration from a super furry animal.

"Can we really blame British punk rockers for being racists?"

Indeed we could if it was true....

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 9:17 AM

If Gruff says the sky is red, I'd believe him. He's the man.

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 9:21 AM

hating on blacks is soooo punk rawk.

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 10:04 AM

the jonas brothers are the modern equivalent of the sex pistols

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 10:30 AM

Danny boy: you're just simply wrong.

You could POSSIBLY say british punk developed independently of US/NY punk, but there's no way you can say it came first. And, other than Tony Wilson, no one invloved in british punk in the 70's would try to claim it.

Mick Jones was not in a neo nazi band before the Clash. Co-opting nazi imagery for the pure sake of shock value at the time does not a neo-Nazi make. Most of the punk bands of that era played around with the nazi imagery as far as fashion and graphics went. But it mainly ended there. There was no real political aspect to it, or racism behind it other than fashion or graphic shock value. Learn your history you fool..

The Ramones played around with Nazi imagery and lyrics and two members were fully Jewish, their manager was Jewish etc..... The DIctators played around with it and they were all Jewish. Christ, just look at their name. Sid Vicious wore a swastika t- shirt, and yet was dating Nancy Spungeon who was Jewish. The Pistols manager Malcom McClarren was also Jewish.

There were a LOT of Jews in the first wave of punk, and a lot of Nazi imagery. Toying with imagery and graphics and fashions for the sake of art or shock or both within context of the genre or performance does not mean that these people were racist.

The Clash performed at anti-Nazi, Rock against Racism rallies. Gimme a break telling me he was a neo- Nazi.

If you go to a Hallowwen party dressed as Hitler that doesn't mean you are a Neo- Nazi.

Real Neo Nazi's are a serious thing onto themselves and have nothing to do with 1970's punk rock stars dressing up.

Look into it deeper before making stupid comments.

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 11:16 AM

That whole British Punk scene was integrated with the Ska scene, so there was not a lot of racism going on there back in the 70's.

"If you go to a Hallowwen party dressed as Hitler that doesn't mean you are a Neo- Nazi."

what you posted isn't wrong but i'd rethink this zinger.

plus, does anyone remember joy division/new order? ya gotta be pretty fucking stupid to accuse them of being nazi sympathizers. on the other hand, provoking a fight with a black dude and making derogatory and insensitive comments about his race is more mel gibson than mike jones.

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 11:34 AM

doesn't the article say that Lydon's crew made the racsist comments, not Lydon himself?

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 11:41 AM

Anon 11:16pm, you are wise and completely right on the money. You speak the truth and quite eloquently. I would have just called Anon 4:42 and Anon 5:10 stupid idiots of the highest order. But then again I am an asshole. So thanks for stating it the way you did.

Oh and once again, Lydon is not a racist or bigot.

Mick Jones was the founding member of punk band LONDON SS before he was a member of The Clash.

Why don't YOU do some fucking research jackass.

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:33 PM

"Toying with imagery and graphics and fashions for the sake of art or shock or both within context of the genre or performance does not mean that these people were racist."

Anon 11:16am is right

"Mick Jones was the founding member of punk band LONDON SS before he was a member of The Clash."

YES HE WAS, BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE HIM A FASCIST...

Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:39 PM

Anon 2:33 you must also be the earlier moron anon. You are such a stupid fuck it is incredible. London SS was not a neo nazi band in the slightest bit. Do some of you people have like zero clue about music or history? Do you even research a band's history, music and the landscape of the time? What the fuck is wrong with some of you?
