The new Secret Machines make me sad.

School of Seven Bells? Cmon...

What kind of guitar is that?

bring back the other brother.

saw them last in may 2007 and it was just not the same.

9:06...Right? It seemed like Reprise was dumping so much money into supporting these guys, and (for once) in a long term nurturing way too. I can't tell if I was mistaken, since the guitarist bailed.
I was really curious where these guys were going to be in 5-10 years.

10:31 Finish your Algebra and GO TO BED!

11:08/12:46...I agree. School of Seven Bells was abysmal when I saw them. It's hard to judge when there is family involved, but, from afar, it seems like everyone is losing here.

12:40 Ibanez(?)

yes, the secret machines are sadly horrid now with the new line-up. They 'were' one of my fave bands. Rest in peace...

I saw these guys back at Bowery in like, 03' or 04' before they were on any label, and I thought they were incredible. Saddens me to see they've splintered or whatever.

I dig SVIIB, but I dug Secret Machines with Ben a lot more.

I thought so.

I have seen Secret Machines play in 05, 06, 07 and just saw them play at Rothbury last weekend. They were one of my favorite live bands and I loved the 3 albums they released. Their Bonnaroo 05 late night set was the best show of my life, ever. I even drove to other states to see them.

I was SOOOOO disappointed with the new guitarist. He plays the original songs and tries to make them his own, it just doesn't work, I'm sorry, it just sounds bad. He isn't a bad player, it is just a new sound to the songs. The new songs they played were OK but I don't think I will go see them live anymore, it's just not the same band at all, the signature guitar lines that made the songs are gone and you got some new guy (who looks like the scientist from Lost) trying to do it and failing.

Major labels are like cops--to paraphrase Edward Abbey, there is no situation they can't make worse.

There are other long-term-ish fans who are not happy with the new sound.

My feeling is that TSM will lose most of the old and pick up some new ones.

Did anyone catch their set at APW?
