It's Hearts of Darknesses (plural), for any of the nit-pickers out there.

Baltimore and Portland are both places to go to wade in a shallow, incestuous pool of people and talent.
Wonderful places to smoke a lot of weed and accomplish very little, whilst constantly convincing yourself that the people in more interesting places really give a shit what's happening in Portland or Baltimore.
The imagined interest of the outside world is pretty much the 24/7 topic of party conversation in those towns.

Anon 1:07, why don't you just go back to your Williamsburg loft and write the next song that us in Baltimore and Portland can use as inspiration to escape our destitute lives?
Wait a minute, doesn't shallow and incestuous basically describe Williamsburg?
Posted by Anonymous | July 19, 2008 1:13 PM
not really, Williamsburg has hundreds of thousands of talented interesting people on its own, plus it's just one fraction of the whole of the city - millions of creative, intelligent, attractive people.
quite the opposite of "incestuous," plus the depth of the talent pool exceeds even the hype. New York is an amazing place.

I heart NYC!
Baltimore is cute, but boring! It's a bit of a turnoff how much it's white boy "artist" denizens fetishize the terrible street crime problem too.
