"Sunday was the ideal day to visit the church of Spiritualized, who reminded everyone they've all but secured their status as Gen-X's Pink Floyd, with mastermind Jason Pierce pleasing his unwashed congregation by pulling out Spacemen 3 songs along with material from the recently released Songs in A&E." [Seattle Weekly]

Spiritualized @ Pitchfork Fest

Spiritualized are working their way around the United States since playing the Pitchfork Festival on Sunday. On Friday night they make a stop at the 9:30 Club in DC and NPR is making that show available to everyone with an internet connection. Then Saturday and Sunday it's Music Hall of Williamsburg and Terminal 5 in NYC respectively. A few more Pitchfork pics below...

Did anyone notice how much more animated and alive Pierce seems nowadays? Especially at the end of the set, he was hitting his guitar with his fist, then in a final act of defiance, lifted the guitar over his head and threw it at the drum kit. He threw his fuckin' guitar.

Rock 'n' Roll.

i heard the Atlanta show was a blast. Expect a smidge of Pure Phase and Laser Guided Melodies, too!

Anything from Ladies and Gentlemen in the set?

They played Lay Back In The Sun tonight at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. If I remember correctly, they haven't played that live since the Pure Phase era.

setlist for tonight?

I was a little disappointed in the set at MHOW. I thought the band would have a small string ensemble to bring some of the finer tunes from the latest record alive. That's what Jason did on his first tour when he played the Apollo. instead, sometimes it descended into noise.

"instead, sometimes it descended into noise." ?!?!??!??
WTF
This has got to be a poor attempt at sarcasm.
The "noise" is the bestest part!

they played walkin with jesus, take me to the other side, and lay back in the sun among other oldies at terminal 5.
