Apparently they're playing Mercury Lounge on the 17th as well. Just got two tickets and am so excited for this show

Sunset Rubdown? Is that a sex term?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 11:55 AM

Sunset Rubdown is not even remotely good.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 11:59 AM

No West Coast dates? WTF?!

sunset rubdown are racist fascist neo nazi punk legends.

the name refers to them stroking off johnny rotten.

obama rules, mccain is old, nas is black, i majored in political science.

"Sunset Rubdown is not even remotely good."

You are not even remotely in possession of a sense of what is musically good. I would add you are probably pretty dumb as well.

Mercury Lounge for this band is too good to pass up.

Spencer Krug is the modern day David Bowie.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:07 PM

I'd love to see them at Merc, but that is the same night as Sigur Ros...guess I'll be at the Music Hall.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:32 PM

same night as sigur ros. hmmm....

Posted by Capt Furburger | July 25, 2008 12:33 PM

How many songs have you written, anon 12:04?

"I'd love to see them at Merc, but that is the same night as Sigur Ros...guess I'll be at the Music Hall."

"same night as sigur ros. hmmm...."

Yeah that is not a problem for those that got to see either of the Sigur Ros shows recently at the much smaller and better venues.
United Palace will not be anything like that.

Ouch.

i can't miss sigur ros. so i'm just gonna hightail it to mercury lounge afterwards. how successful i will be is questionable. i just can't stand the idea of missing out the mercury lounge show for Music Hall.

12:07:

isn't david bowie the modern david bowie? did he die yet?

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:42 PM

mercury lounge show is going to be awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:43 PM

"How many songs have you written, anon 12:04?"

If you are also Anon 11:59 then, with this comment, you just went right ahead and proved that yes you are actually very dumb

I thought Damon Albarn was the modern day David Bowie? Oh wait, Albarn is just a tool bag.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:48 PM

Spencer Krug's songs are bloated and gaudy. Dan Boeckner writes the good WP songs.

Please elaborate, 12:43.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:49 PM

Hightailing it from Washington Heights to the LES? heh... good luck.

That will be an interesting "OMG I CANNOT BELIEVE I DIDN'T MAKE IT IN TIME" story.

Seeing both Sunset and Low within a week of eachother at such a small venue will be an experience. yay.

Actually, I was at the Grand Ballroom show! But, I know that Sigur Ros will always be a better choice than Sunset Rubdown, no matter the venue. Therefore, thanks to the MHOW show, I will be able see both Sigur Ros shows AND Sunset Rubdown.

Zing!

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:53 PM

the only tool bag i see is 12:39. it must be tough constantly trying to get into all the hot ticket shows for the sheer recognition that you got in and not for the band or music.

Posted by Anonymous | July 25, 2008 12:55 PM

Well Anon 12:49 if you mean that Dan writes the more stripped down songs with less ornamentation well that is somewhat true. But I would not call Spencer's songs bloated and gaudy. More like opulent and extravagant in a very beautiful way.

Mercury Lounge>MHOW

Grand Ballroom>United Palace

Sigur Ros are also playing at United Palace the night after Sunset Rubdown at Mercury. So you can actually see Sunset Rubdown at the better venue. True though that to anyone who did go to Sigur Ros at Grand Ballroom, the United Palace show can only be a letdown.

Sorry dude, your zing was more like a whiff.
