Well this is off to a good, Brooklyn Vegan-esque start. Let the discourse flow!
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:01 AM
who is racist?
Posted by butternuts | July 23, 2008 11:02 AM
king khan...fucking racist.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:03 AM
^ what the fluck? may we ask why you're saying that?
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:05 AM
this is going to be hilarious!
continue, please. no really....
Posted by Tito | July 23, 2008 11:12 AM
That's a lot of King Khan in one weekend.
Posted by anonymous2 | July 23, 2008 11:15 AM
does king khan's helmet make him racist?
please explain...
Posted by butternuts | July 23, 2008 11:20 AM
hello? where's senior dickface who was calling him racist with no explanation? mmhhmmm, thought so.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 11:40 AM
what's the difference between the bbq and the shrines? he was the talk of the pitchfork festival last weekend, I think playing with the shrines.
Posted by miguel | July 23, 2008 11:47 AM
the shrines are like a big soul/garage revue. horn section, keys, percussion. the king khan and bbq show is more stripped down. guitars and a very basic drumset.

black people cannot be racist

garbage band playing at a garbage show space. perfect fit!

khan once beat up some black babies who looked at him funny at kfc.

After KK & BBq got kicked off a tour for refusing to play shows in Florida they agreed to play, a very public show of bitterness followed on the Goner message board. King Khan openly made anti-semitic insults and threats towards the Jewish booking agents of that tour. Now, because the Black Lips are represented by the same Jewish booking agents- the Black Lips are not allowed to take KK & BBq on the road with them.
King Khan also thinks drawing swastikas on stuff is funny and punk, just ask him.
I'm not Jewish and I like the their music, but racism is fucking ugly and petty.

Santo's Party House sucks yeah but how can you say anything against either of these bands. The ones who do have not seen them play or really listened to them. That is a fact. Calling Khan a racist is retarded. KK and BBQ are the shit. Too bad this is the same night as Erykah Badu at Wingate Park. Hopefully there will be a late night set at Don Pedro's. Anyone with info on that?
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 1:49 PM
does antisemitism really fall under the umbrella of "racism?"
isn't it more of a theological stance?
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 2:23 PM
Dumb...
Erykah Badu?
Saying Khan is racist is stupid, but Khan himself made the mistake of writing racist rants on the Goner messageboard.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 2:24 PM
Hoo Hoo, I wonder who that was posting from The Agency Group. Could it have been fat ass Dave Kaplan or the idiot Tim Borror. Before you go accusing, I am not Khan but i do work in the business so I know all about what happened. You piece of shit to spew that kind of bullshit lie. That incident was a fucked up situation that had guilty parties on both sides. How about we start telling people some of the shit that you 2 jerkoffs have said both in public and private and even about some of your artists. The Agency Group is a fucking joke. And by the way Kapgun, you really must like King Khan and support racism because you were front and center in the VIP area when they recently played the Seaport.
Posted by Anonymous | July 23, 2008 2:28 PM
The above post sounds like a bitter musician whose band got refused by the Agency. You really don't know shit about "that incident" if you think Tim Borror(?) had anything to do with it.

"does antisemitism really fall under the umbrella of "racism?"

jews define a jew as someone whose mother is jewish. so its not really just a theological stance.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 5:34 AM
but what if the target or their mother or their mother's mother was a convert to judaism? how can that still be racism?
eh? eh? eh?
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 10:00 AM
.....is totally written by tim borror
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:27 PM
2:23 is an idiot.

if king khan is racist than elvis costello is james earl ray.
Posted by Anonymous | July 24, 2008 2:37 PM
King Khan is a good musician, and an excellent performer. I don't think I've seen many live shows as good as his. But he's a moron who utters the most idiotic shit from time to time. That's okay - we don't pay him to say smart things. On with the show

This is the real king khan and i wanna let everyone know that i am not a racist... i have two half german children and have been happily married for 8 years... i do get crazy and get very angry when i am ripped off... what happened between dave kaplan and I is water under the bridge... yes angry words were exchanged and some of the stuff i said was pretty "racial"... but to clear up the problem.... i firmly believe in the lenny bruce and richard pryor way of approaching the WAR ON RACISM.... I love everybody, jews, midgets, junkies even mormons... soul music has no boundary or color or religion... just because i have a muslim name doesnt mean i hate jews... I think i just might have to move to this country and put on my super king khan duds and pump some love back into all you haters... WE ARE A LIFE CULT... spreading a message that chaos can be fun and empowering... so please read a book, or take a walk in the park, you are so lucky not to be living in the gaza strip, or in uganda right now so enjoy your freedom and turn off you computer and buy my records...hahahaha i will be laughing my way to the bank...bitches (with $55 bucks of acid in my pocket)
xoxoxoxox
much love

I've known Dave Kaplan for many years , whoever is posting on here digging on him is a jerk ! Dave busts his ass for his bands .
I love clowns who go on message boards and throw sh*t on here because they're " little men ".

Khan, I knew you weren't racist/anti-semitic because you wanted my Leonard Cohen shirt in Boston, and I got it in exchange for a ton of cool swag and when I made a joke to Mark Sultan about how funny it was I was letting Lenny's identity get usurped at a Khan show he knew it wasn't in jest and laughed. So cheers

HA! Dave Kaplan is a bullying lying pig. Whoever defended him on here has mental problems. He is a sociopath, plain and simple.
