low is the only reason to go to the second stage. maybe brian jonestown massacre, but i'm not giving up real estate close to my bloody valentine.
this is going to be great. no reason to show up early, bardo pond excepted.
fantastic.

any idea when they're gonna release the details about the criterion film portion?

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:32 AM

"low is the only reason to go to the second stage. "

Low are playing in between OM and Thee Silver Mt Zion, two perfectly good reasons to also go to the second stage.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:33 AM

autolux and les savy fav are both greater than either om or silver mt zion. that is a no-brainer.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:36 AM

anybody got extra room in their rooms for one more person? i swear i don't smell...

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:40 AM

ATP has got way better taste than MBV...just sayin

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:47 AM

Sunday. Stage 1. Only reason to go.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:50 AM

wow those are some short sets

Posted by derspringer | August 28, 2008 11:50 AM

mann, this looks like so much fucking fun..... SO bummed i can't go.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:56 AM

i guess this means that one more possible act announcement is no longer quite as possible

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 11:56 AM

i just tied my penis in a bow

Posted by Randy "Macho Man" Savage | August 28, 2008 11:56 AM

can not wait! just around the corner!

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:01 PM

"wow those are some short sets"

actually, 45min is about perfect for a thing like this...60min for all the bands would drag...

Posted by anon | August 28, 2008 12:18 PM

plus, built to spill gets an hour and a half, which means they'll be playing more than just perfect from now on

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:26 PM

i am delighted that lightning bolt follows shellac and lsf. that is fantastic. sunday from 6:45 on is amazing also.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:31 PM

That's about enough time for 5 or 6 BTS live jams.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:33 PM

Saturday Stage 2 is a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:37 PM

i made a spreadsheet for checking out the stages against each other to make sure there are no real conflicts between bands i want to see. it's a lot easier to look at it this way and i figured i would post it in case it helps anyone else.

http://momar.net/ATP.xls

it looks pretty good, there are no bands that i want to see that i shouldn't be able to catch at least half their set, so long as the stages are close by. now i just have to pony up the cash for a ticket.

Posted by marc | August 28, 2008 12:42 PM

OM is amazing....

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:43 PM

nice spreadsheet, nerd. don't forget your pocket protector!

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:46 PM

haha i used to go to kutscher's with my family when i was a youngun.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 12:50 PM

Marc, that is quite great thank you!

Not too many tragic conflicts with the glaring exception of Les Savy Fav vs Mt. Zion. There is no contest, I will see Mt. Zion but I did want to catch Les Savy. Oh well. At least night 1 I can see all of Thurston, all of Patton Oswalt then all of Built to Spill.

Well organized ATP, well organized indeed.

Posted by noamjamski | August 28, 2008 1:03 PM

hey I used to go to kutscher's when I was a young gun II!

Posted by emilio | August 28, 2008 1:03 PM

so pumped for this

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 1:31 PM

seems like they did a pretty good job with minimizing conflicts. i'm sure everybody will have a couple, but i think they spaced things apart reasonably well.

so what happens between like 1 AM and 1 PM?

Posted by aviatrix | August 28, 2008 1:49 PM

that's when the fun starts, friend. i'm trying to figure out when/how i'm going to be sober enough to drive back to the cabin we rented. what is the police presence like on rte 17 in the middle of the night?

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 1:56 PM

fuck i didn't know EPMD are playing.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 3:01 PM

Anon 1:56

The cops will be all over this weekend as they have very little to do otherwise. Please exercise caution and good judgement when driving either the local roads or RT 17.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 3:17 PM

after 1pm? djs and dancing etc. tickets are still available!

Posted by Jamie | August 28, 2008 3:27 PM

so what happens between like 1 AM and 1 PM?

DJ's, parties, golf, sleep (perish the thought)--it's country club livin', m'man.

Posted by dbati | August 28, 2008 3:33 PM

marc - that excel sheet was great! thank you.

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 7:08 PM

marc, are you from florida?

Posted by Anonymous | August 28, 2008 7:17 PM

i have an extra ticket, will sell for a little less than face. but if you need a ride from nyc, i am driving as well. email me @ gsurov@gmail.com

Posted by Anonymous | September 8, 2008 12:18 PM

I went up and saw these guys up north a few months ago. Took the bus to NYC. Was a good show, I'd do it again.
