Best Friends Forever @ a Todd P show in Austin - Mar 12, 2008 (piratehat)
Best Friends Forever

hi friends!

I've been looking forward to the 2 shows this week for a long time!

If you've come out to 1 of my shows in the last year you recognize this phenomenal song I play btwn the bands a lot, it goes... "Eisenhower is the father of the interstate highway system..." There's another 1 too, that goes "Put your hand in my backpocket, as if it were your own backpocket..."

BOTH those great tunes are by Minneapolis's BEST FRIENDS FOREVER, 2 ladies & their bud Joe on drums, playing some of the catchiest, most joyful, most quirky sexy pop songs being made in the US of A right now.

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER play -2- terrific all ages show lineups in NYC this week!

god no.

Posted by Anonymous | August 19, 2008 4:17 PM

Wait until Skoal Kodiak shows up to make a call about "best band out of Minneapolis". Best Friends Forever is one of the best bands in the country by a huge margin though.

Posted by Josh Brown | August 19, 2008 4:19 PM

This should be pretty fun. I'm excited to finally check out these bands.

as a Minnesota native, I can tell you that there's a 50/50 split with BFF. they have a rabid fan base, but if you hate them, you really really hate them. consider me in the latter camp.

Posted by max | August 20, 2008 12:58 AM

I can't understand why they have such a rabid fan base. BFF is garbage. They make my ears bleed.

Top 5 Minnesota Bands:

1. Skoal Kodiak -

1. Knife World - http://www.myspace.com/yourfavoritebandknifeworld
3. Sarah Johnson -

4. Michael Yonkers with the Blind Shake

5. Excessively large tie between Best Friends Forever, Thrust, Voyager, Paul Metzger, Milos Fine, Tender Meat, Velvet Davenport, Gay Beast, Slapping Purses, and a large handful of others.

Point is, I'd like to see Baltimore round robin that nonsense.

Notably, I will be not supporting Brooklyn Vegan any longer due to the fact that he is apparently screening my posts on his messageboard. Welcome to the world of internet trash talk.

Posted by Josh Brown | August 20, 2008 2:01 AM

Settle down, Josh Brown. I'm unable to post comments using IE 7 or Safari for Windows 3.1.2 (I get an error message saying javascript is required); are you having the same difficulty?

Also, it looks like it was a bit nippy in Austin on 3/12/08.

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2008 4:28 AM

Here comes my uninformed opinion because I haven't listened to their songs, but let me just point out that the following factors that have shaped my opinion have also discouraged me from taking the time to listen and instead take the time to make this comment:

I don't like this band because:
a)They're called "Best Friends Forever"
b)Their songs were described as "the catchiest, most joyful, most quirky sexy pop songs being made"

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2008 11:58 AM

Can we get an opinion from someone who saw them last night?

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2008 12:09 PM

I judge 11:58 entirely based on his need to waste his own energy posting negative things about subjects based on their names/titles, fluff said about them, and nothing else

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2008 12:15 PM

these ladies are awesome.

Posted by Anonymous | August 20, 2008 12:19 PM

"Notably, I will be not supporting Brooklyn Vegan any longer due to the fact that he is apparently screening my posts on his messageboard. "

Actually it's called a spam filter and it's been there since day one and it caught your "August 20, 2008 1:59 AM" comment due to an excessive amount of links which is just something the software does. Your original has since been unspammed.

As you should have figured out when you posted "test" (and the comment quoted above), comments generally go right through.

They were pretty excellent last night, and guess what, they know how to play their instruments quite well as a matter of fact.
There is a recording on the the show on the web already.
