Ninjasonik @ Bodega 7/5/08 (thepiratehat)
Death Set @ Bodega

Hello everyone,

If you are receiving this email, it is because we have scheduled a show with you and/or your band at BODEGA in the coming weeks.

It is with great disappointment that we have to cancel all BODEGA shows in the coming weeks. As some of you may know, we had a problem with the bathroom last week that revealed serious structural damage to the space. At risk of injury and serious disaster, we have been forced to close down for the foreseeable future in order to repair damages and conduct major renovations.

I am very sorry, certainly we do not want to cancel shows and close our doors but the situation is dire and catastrophic. Even right now, there is a massive hole in the floor, no bathroom, and structural damage to the building.

We hope to reopen in October, if possible. Again, I am very sorry and hope to reschedule these shows when the repairs are completed.

All the best,
Andy

That didn't last very long. Andy is Andrew Smith the event coordinator at Bodega. Hidden Power and Frat Dad were scheduled to play there Friday night (and are looking for a new venue if you know anywhere).

Looks like that place would do better to reopen to Chelsea.

Looks like that place would do better to reopen in Chelsea or at 11:17's basement, apparently.

This is great news!

bring back Coney Island High, Wetlands, and keep the Knitting Factory in Manhattan... how come no one is fighting for that btw?

if all the good NYC venues didn't get forced out, people wouldn't have to breathe in asbestos and fall through floors to see bands play

dudes i'm hosting a show in the hole in the floor! the new space is called "hole in the floor"! sick!

places like this ARE the current manifestation of the good clubs of the past. no one with enough money will back a real club (that's not some bowery-sized monster), so it's left to kids with no money pooling their resources. i am not super optimistic about the building owner stepping up quickly to repair Bodega. can we have a "Bathroom Raising" benefit?

cuz asbestos gets you fuuuuuuuuuckin stoooooooned. get with it.

they can play in my living room. it's probably the size of bodega, or at least death by audio. it's in williamsburg and i don't think the people upstairs would care. we have a patio too.

interested?
