Body Count

I have no idea why Ice-T still does Body Count, but by the pictures, it looks like last night's show was kind of crazy. Rebecca writes, "Yes that's Ice T and his wife Coco. Yes...Coco [gets] topless... His son came on stage for a song too - it was a real family affair. I watched the three of them drive off in their Jag right after the show. I'll never be able to watch Law and Order: SVU the same way again."

Tickets for tonight (Friday August 15th)'s show have been reduced in price (there's not a huge demand for Body Count). You'll see the tickets cost $25 at Ticketweb, but you get $10 off if you use the coupon code "ICET" and you get two tickets for $20 if you use the code "BODYCOUNT". More pics from last night below...

That guy is such a clown. Makes me sick.

was anyone there? were they any good? the first album was pretty awesome.....most of the original band is dead now right?

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 5:14 PM

That's basically a visual argument in favor of dating petite, brunette hipster chicks.

to quote marvin gaye, what's goin' on?

Was there last night and it was actually fun and packed. No Redeeming Social Value was awesome also.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 5:33 PM

Do you blow her up?

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 5:37 PM

I would totally hit it. yeah. i said it.

Posted by josh | August 15, 2008 5:38 PM

That's a real woman? I thought it was surely a blow-up doll...

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 5:44 PM

I was there too and it was a great show. I saw Body Count at the first Lolopalooza where they blew Janes off the stage and this was on par with their early performances--definitely worth seeing--the show was packed but not sold out possibly due to thunder, flood and tornado warnings that never panned out.

Posted by Ryan | August 15, 2008 5:50 PM

Is there any irony in this show?

oooo all you BV commenters are so much better than everybody else.

get over yourselves

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 6:43 PM

Ice T looks like Jeffrey Wright circa "Syriana"

the songs on their myspace are simply awful.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 6:53 PM

bigfoot!

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 7:16 PM

Why did they add another show if they are now discounting tix? Wouldn't it have made more sense just to have one sold out show?

My friend and I used to make so much fun of the song "Voodooo."

"She had an old doll,
she had a long shiny needle (Voodoo)
she held the doll in the air
it looked kinda like me
she took the needle,
stuck it in its eye!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
My eye, bitch!"

The song "Body Count" is good though.

No Redeeming Social Value is a good band. As is Sub Zero, who plays tonight.

Evil Dick is a great song. Damn, I haven't pulled out that album in decades. I probably don't even have in anymore.

Maybe some one should make a joke about 9/11 right now.

I don't care about Body Count but I LOVE his lp O.G. Original Gangster. What a classic!

Posted by EdBegly | August 15, 2008 11:22 PM

I was pretty disappointed that the "Coco" tag didn't hit any other entries.

Posted by Anonymous | August 15, 2008 11:50 PM

that just looks completely disgusting. they're both such a joke just the worst.

Hmmm. I vaguely remember another BV post about her.

funny thing is, Ice T's titties are not much smaller than Coco's these days:

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 7:35 AM

one more thing: any culture in which someone with Ice T's skin color is considered "black" is seriously fucked up.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 7:37 AM

^^^HUH?

Posted by blackhat | August 16, 2008 8:15 AM

tiny dancer

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 8:43 AM

"^^^HUH?"

What i meant is that the notion that someone like Ice T (who, based on appearances at least, seems to have more European than African ancestors) is 'black', rests on the ultra-racist (and hence fucked-up) idea that 'one drop of black blood is enough to make you black'.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 9:26 AM

Coco the monkey.

Posted by Factor | August 16, 2008 9:28 AM

@Anon9:26 - Thanks for clarifying. I will say two things though...(i) Ice T proudly self-identifies as black; and (ii) being "considered black" is certainly not a negative. I can tell you're not an asshole so I'm not trying to come down on ya...just sayin'.

Posted by blackhat | August 16, 2008 9:50 AM

lol. wtf?

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 10:11 AM

blackhat - no dispute between us... Being black (or being considered black, or whatever) is definitely not a negative thing. And I think it's perfectly fine for someone to choose to identify as a member of a certain ethnic/racial/religious/national/whatever community, even if some or most of the person's ancestors were not part of that community: It's perfectly fine for someone to identify as black even if your family background is mixed European/African; it's perfectly fine for you to identify as Jewish even if, say, only one of your grandparents is Jewish.

The only thing I was pointing out is that in America (and perhaps also in other parts of the world, I don't know), it's customary to automatically think of anyone who's, say, 50% black and 50% white as simply black. (So, for instance, Obama is "black", even though obviously his family background is as much European as it is African.) That way of thinking is not "natural" or "default": it has its historical origins in a pretty racist way of thinking. (Which doesn't mean that anyone who employs it today is necessarily racist.)

Anyway, I think we both agree on the basics...

While we're on the topic, Tiger Woods has more Asian lineage than African.

BARF

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 1:17 PM

How the hell do you know what Ice -T's ancestry? By his skin pigmentation? That's absurdly racist in and of itself and has nothing to do with how he identifies.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 5:40 PM

5:40 - pointing out that someone who has Ice T's looks is probably not 100% African is not racist. It's just a factual statement. And had you read my posts a bit more intelligently, you would've realized that my comment was the opposite of racist.

(btw, in interviews Ice-T has said that one of his parents - his father, i think - was 'creole', whatever that means, whereas the other was 'black'.

Posted by Anonymous | August 16, 2008 7:58 PM

If I was Quentin Tarantino, I would find a role for Ice-T. Someday...

I'm pretty pissed I couldn't be there. I love Body Count. Granted Ice and Ernie C are the only original members left, but being brough back to 1991 isn't such a bad thing. I was only 11 years old when I got the first BC record. My God did it blow me away, and it still does! It was a very important record for that time and it has aged very nicely. I'm sure it was fun singing along to those songs!

Way to post misogynistic photos, BV. What the fuck?

"btw, in interviews Ice-T has said that one of his parents - his father, i think - was 'creole', whatever that means, whereas the other was 'black'."

Black people come in all shades. Creoles are descendants of free people of color from Louisiana, historically mixed raced (Cajun white, Spanish, Native American, and Black) but self-identifying as black. And yes, considering slavery and being 400 years removed from Africa, most American born black people are less than 100% African. So what though? I'm pretty sure a cop pulling Ice-T over would identify him as black pretty quick.

Posted by Anonymous | August 17, 2008 2:43 PM

I have a feeling these photos make this show look like it was way more fun than it actually was. It looks like one big bummer.
